David Gregory, acrimoniously ousted as host of NBC’s Meet the Press in August, is working on a book. But not about his bitter end at NBC. Mike Allen in Politico Playbook reports that Gregory’s book, due out sometime in 2015, is about his Jewish faith. Jonathan Karp, president and publisher of Simon & Schuster Publishing Group emails Playbook: “David and I began discussing a potential book about his personal faith and the spiritual journey people take in their lives,” Simon & Schuster publisher Jonathan Karp told Playbook. “We came to terms on the contract in 2011 and have been working

As attorneys Daryl Parks and Benjamin Crump continue to represent the family of Michael Brown, the similarities in their approach toward both the Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown shooting continue to mount. And that’s a problem, as you’ll see at the end: (Snip)• In Both cases the media use the catch phrase “unarmed teenager”. You’ll not find much, if any, reporting without the use of this catch phrase. • The media called both “a child”, and a “minor child”. • Both Brown and Martin families refused to help local police officers in the initial investigation and demanded federal intervention via Eric Holder

Deputy State Department spokesperson Marie Harf on Wednesday condemned the beheading of American journalist James Foley by Islamic terrorists, but she also stated that the ISIS threat “is not about the United States and what we do.” Harf spoke after President Obama told the nation that “governments and peoples across the Middle East” should come together in a “common effort to extract this cancer, so that it does not spread.” He then went golfing. "I think ISIL wants to make this about the United States and our actions. And I think what the President was trying to say was that

Much of black America and the liberal media are making a huge issue of the Ferguson shooting of an unarmed black man by a white police officer. We are being treated to endless live reports of rioting and looting, some of them detailing inflows of black and leftist agitators from around the country to keep the Ferguson opportunity hot and in full media focus. All of this comes out of a neighborhood shooting where, if the parties involved had their races reversed, the incident would have been merely local. But what amazes me is the justification for all this upheaval:

Hell freezes over - Senator Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) is running in one of the tightest reelection races in the country, facing freshman Rep. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), a U.S. Army veteran. So it may come as some surprise that in Pryor’s new ad released Wednesday, he chose to hone in on his support of President Barack Obama’s unpopular healthcare law. In the personal new ad, Pryor’s father, David, a former senator himself, talks about his son’s battle with sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, in 1996. “When Mark was diagnosed with cancer, we might lose him,” David Pryor says in a voiceover. “But you know what? Mark’s insurance company didn’t

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is seeking to ban all tobacco use at every work place in the country, including businesses that operate primarily outdoors. The agency published a Current Intelligence Bulletin (CIB) on Friday that would advise the few workplaces that still allow smoking to end the practice, specifically targeting blue-collar workers in the construction and mining industries. The document, which will be open to public comment for 30 days, provided multiple recommendations from the CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Among them: ban smoking in outdoor work areas and have bosses ask

Obamacare challengers to D.C. Circuit:
Let Supreme Court decide where
subsidies should flow
Washington Times, by Tom Howell Jr.    Original Article

Obamacare challengers have asked a federal appeals court to stand down and let the Supreme Court decide whether the government may give subsidies to people who used the federal health exchange, a standoff that threatens to upend the health overhaul. The Court of Appeals for the Circuit of the District of Columbia previously ruled against President Obama in a 2-1 decision that said subsidies may only flow to health exchanges set up by states, based on a phrase in the Affordable Care Act that suggests that is what Congress intended. The ruling invalidated an IRS rule that extended subsidies to exchanges in every state.

Atheist author Richard Dawkins provoked a firestorm Wednesday on Twitter by claiming an unborn baby with Down’s syndrome should be aborted and that it would be “immoral to bring it into the world.” The debate with some of his one million followers began when Dawkins, 73, linked to an article at the liberal New Republic titled, “The Catholic Church prefers medieval barbarism to modern abortion,” by Jerry A. Coyne, according to The Daily Mail. “Ireland is a civilised country except in this one area,” Dawkins said. “You’d think the Roman Church would have lost all influence.” Irish Catholic Aidan McCourt tweeted in return

Sunday night was the most intense evening of the protests that have gone on for more than a week in Ferguson, Missouri. I sat at home and actually considered crashing some big convention in Tampa this week with the chant, “Hands up! Don’t shoot!” I felt driven to do something more than sit home and be a spectator to the most important event since the drama of the Civil Rights Movement. But at some point it occurred to me that making a spectacle at a majority white convention would do very little to help people understand my anger, or the

Ryan, who had reportedly been working behind the scenes with Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) to get House Republicans to support a broader immigration bill, said that he was "having problems" convincing conservatives to support immigration reform, which he said was "very important." In a Wednesday interview with Bloomberg News, Ryan said he supported a "path to legalization" for all of the country´s illegal immigrants. Kristol said, "Its really pathetic, I feel sick really as an American, to have an American get killed, brutal murdered" and have the president just go out and "look angry" "I saw that line he said so childishly, really, ´ISIL has no ideology that´s worthwhile.´ People like this ultimately fail. We must put a price on carbon — now,” DiCaprio said in a statement. The eight-minute long

The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isil) reportedly called for the release of a female Pakistani scientist with ties to al-Qaeda in exchange for James Foley. According to the New York Times, Isil sent through a "laundry list" of demands to the United States which included the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, an MIT-trained neuroscientist currently incarcerated in a prison in Texas. In the United States Dr Siddiqui is considered an al-Qaida courier and fundraiser involved in bomb making, but in Pakistan and Afghanistan, she is seen as an Islamic ‘damsel in distress’ who has been persecuted for her faith.

Attorney General Eric Holder said Thursday that his Justice Department is opening a criminal investigation into the brutal execution by Islamic State militants of American journalist James Foley, in the latest move by the administration to use the criminal justice system to pursue terrorists. The announcement comes as the administration steps up its airstrike campaign against the same militant organization -- and mulls additional American boots on the ground in Iraq. Holder, during remarks in Washington, confirmed the "open criminal investigation" into Foley´s beheading, which was recorded and posted online this week. "Those who would perpetrate such acts need to understand something --

In the wake of controversy over Wikipedia’s free and worldwide distribution of a monkey ‘selfie’ against the wishes of the man who claims to own copyright, the US has issued new guidance that says monkeys, ghosts and gods are all banned from possessing image rights. The US Copyright Office has published a draft update to its rules regarding ownership of creative works like photographs, text and art – the first changes in more than two decades – which explicitly state that it will only recognise pieces produced by a human. Among the 1,222 pages of updated rules and regulations are explicit bans on works produced by “nature,

A teenager is fatally shot by a police officer; the police are accused of being bloodthirsty, trigger-happy murderers; riots erupt. This, we are led to believe, is the way of things in America. It is also a terrible calumny; cops are not murderers. No officer goes out in the field wishing to shoot anyone, armed or unarmed. And although they’re unlikely to defend it quite as loudly during a time of national angst like this one, people who work in law enforcement know they are legally vested with the authority to detain suspects — an authority that must sometimes be

Shots were heard after the militants arrived in three armoured vehicles and on dozens of motorcycles, he said. A police spokesman confirmed the attack while a senior security source said it had not been possible to communicate with the academy since Wednesday. Thousands have been killed across north-eastern Nigeria since Boko Haram launched its violent campaign for an Islamic state in 2009.
