In a few minutes, President Obama will address the nation about the beheading of an America by the terrorist group ISIS. But before facing the cameras, Obama sent out a fundraising appeal. "Nothing has ever been more important than fighting for folks like you. You are my priority," writes Obama. "And right now, a focus of that fight has to be getting people who really care about making things better for you elected. The upcoming elections could determine whether or not we have a Congress who will work with me to help you. "That´s why it´s so important I spend

FERGUSON, Missouri—It´s not easy running a business with riots going on. In the ten days since Michael Brown was shot in Ferguson, Missouri, the small businesses that line the streets have suffered a major financial blow from the constant rioting, vandalism, and looting, owners said. Looters and vandals have smashed windows of store fronts, spray painted graffiti, stolen property, and burned down businesses. Some stores re-opened with plywood plugging up their smashed windows. The words “open for business” are often spray painted on the plywood, but many customers are too afraid to even come. One such sign for “Yolo! Botique”

Sergeant Kevin Ahlbrand, president of the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police, says the police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown has been vilified in the press and by politicians before the facts are known. "Justice needs to go both ways," Ahlbrand told Fox News´s Megyn Kelly Tuesday night. "We routinely don´t comment on these cases until the facts are in. But we thought it was very necessary that we say, hey, we´re open for a very thorough investigation, but we´re very concerned about the due process rights of Darren." On Wednesday, a grand jury is expected to begin hearing

"This week, 26 Iraqi high school students and their mentors are in Washington, D.C., to conclude a four-week exchange program in the United States on civic education, leadership development, respect for diversity and community engagement," deputy State Department spokesman Marie Harf told reporters on Tuesday. "No stops in Missouri?" a reporter asked Harf. "I told you they´re in Washington now," she responded.

Media on Wednesday afternoon appeared to spread conflicting reports over the fate of Muhammad Deif, the head of Hamas´s armed wing, who was possibly killed in an IDF airstrike on Tuesday night. Fox News quoted Israeli officials as saying that Deif was believed to have been killed in the airstrike. Previously, Israel had admitted to striking his home in an attempt to assassinate him but did not comment on whether he had been killed or not. Hamas, however, denied that Deif was killed. In a televised address on Wednesday evening a spokesperson said that Israel had ´failed´ to kill Muhammad

Radical Islamist Terrorism emboldened

The “British accent” of the Islamic State beast who brutally beheaded American photojournalist James Wright Foley serves as the defining moment in the scourge of radical Islamic terrorism. That defining moment underlines in blood how Western leaders who allow the flow of terrorists across their borders have relinquished the safety of their own citizens for convenience, cowardice and political expediency. Western leaders like President Barack Hussein Obama and Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron do not do the jobs they were sworn in to do in protecting their citizens. They only make speeches and go on vacations. The mainstream media doesn’t question negligent Western

With Barack Obama´s approval ratings lately barely cracking 40 percent, plenty of Democrats will keep their distance from the president heading into the midterms, just as Alex Sink did she when ran for governor in 2010. Not Charlie Crist, who said today he hopes to be campaigning side by side with the president. "I hope so," he said when asked about campaigning with Obama. "I hope everybody does." His comments came as he, Carole Crist, and St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman left the Supervisor of Elections office in downtown St. Petersburg, after casting their ballots early. "It´s so convenient, it´s nice and

Yesterday, a video depicting the beheading of American journalist James Wright Foley was posted on YouTube. The jihadist in the video spoke with a London accent, prompting questions about whether the man was in fact a British national. In response to these questions, British Prime Minister David Cameron suspended his vacation and vowed to get to the bottom of the situation. Obama, on the other hand, returned to Martha´s Vineyard late Tuesday evening to rejoin his family on vacation. A statement was released through a spokesman late last night that said Obama was "appalled" by the gruesome beheading. Compare: The Prime Minist

The U.S. intelligence community has confirmed the authenticity of a video showing Islamic State extremists beheading American journalist James Foley, as military analysts and U.S. lawmakers say the execution should be a wake-up call to the need to dismantle the militant organization. President Obama, currently in Martha´s Vineyard, plans to make a statement at 12:45 p.m. ET. The remarks come after the White House National Security Council released a brief statement saying the intelligence community reviewed the video and has "reached the judgment that this video is authentic." The beheading marks the first time the Islamic State -- also known as ISIS, or

HENDERSON, Ky. — Mitch McConnell has a game plan to confront President Barack Obama with a stark choice next year: Accept bills reining in the administration’s policies or veto them and risk a government shutdown. In an extensive interview here, the typically reserved McConnell laid out his clearest thinking yet of how he would lead the Senate if Republicans gain control of the chamber. The emerging strategy: Attach riders to spending bills that would limit Obama policies on everything from the environment to health care, consider using an arcane budget tactic to circumvent Democratic filibusters and force the president to “move

You have a nasty thug boosting Swisher Sweets from the corner store and roughing up the merchant. Then, like flies to a barnyard, you have swarms of race pimps breathlessly buzzing to the scene to further fuel the rage and delegitimize the very banner behind which they march. Then come the “po-po,” dressed in military gear and riding in tanks of war — all of it the final designs of a big government welfare state that came to power promising to solve all your problems. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. left Washington early Wednesday for a day of meetings in Ferguson, Mo., as the highest-ranking Obama administration official to visit the tension-filled community where nightly protests have led to dozens of arrests. Holder was scheduled to meet with law enforcement officials, elected leaders and community groups during his time in the St. Louis suburb. With President Obama in Martha’s Vineyard for another week of vacation, Holder has become the point man for the administration’s efforts to help restore calm on the streets in Ferguson and conduct an independent civil rights investigation into the police shooting

In a speech last month to students at the Eagle Forum Collegians Leadership Summit, GotNews founder and political activist Charles C. The Iraqi government says it is troubled by reports that Islamic State militants are selling oil from wells they have captured in northern Iraq. Baghdad has warned buying such supplies could help the group fund its operations, as the US carried out another airstrike as part of efforts to push the militants back. Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari has urged the world to back Iraq against IS, which was previously known as ISIS.

When I bodysurfed with my three brothers as a kid, I didn’t hate wiping out as much as I hated my brothers’ laughing at me when I emerged from the wash of a big wave spluttering and gasping for air, swimsuit askew. I had a choice, I could either stop bodysurfing (and thus get left behind) or get used to getting dumped. Eventually I figured out a solution: wipe yourself out so you get used to it and don’t dread it as much. What I discovered after a few self-imposed poundings was that if you can find the sand, you can find the air; it’s in the exact opposite direction. And the wave is always happy to introduce you to the sand.

The left advances their meme irrespective of whether it is rooted in truth, or not. There are powerful forces at work in the process, from the Obama administration to the media and so on down the line. We are seeing this play out in Ferguson as the left is stoking the fire of a race war based on nothing more than their intention to do so. And they’re ratcheting up the rhetoric in anticipation of the grand jury meeting that is scheduled for today. That justice will be served in this case seems more and more unlikely as the left has redefined

Marquette University has always been a friend to me. The kind who challenges you to do more and be better and ultimately shapes who you become. With Marquette, I went on some volunteer trips to South Dakota and Mississippi and learned I was a sheltered kid and the world had real problems. I came to know young people who wanted to give their hearts for others. Later I volunteered in a Milwaukee junior high school up the street from the university and was inspired to become an inner-city teacher. But Marquette was perhaps never a bigger friend to me than when

During a speech in August of 2006, the Associated Press reports that then-President George W. Bush warned of what now sounds like a premonition of what would happen in Iraq should the U.S. prematurely withdraw our troops, "If we leave Iraq before the job is done, it will create a terrorist state in the heart of the Middle East, a terrorist state much more dangerous than Afghanistan was before we removed the Taliban, a terrorist state with the capacity to fund its activities because of the oil reserves of Iraq." What Bush warned of 8 years ago is exactly what

It turns out that there are some good reasons why the former Governor and GOP Presidential nominee is allowing his name to be circulated as a potential candidate in 2016. Some of those good reasons can be found in a new poll by Zogby Analytics showing him outpolling his nearest rivals for the nomination by about two to one. The poll of 315 likely Republican primary voters was conducted online on August 13-15 and has a margin of sampling error of +/-5.6 percentage points. Romney places first in the 2016 race for the nomination with 20%, followed by New jersey Governor

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and other top Democrats are increasingly frustrated with how disengaged President Obama is, according an article in the New York Times. The story, by reporters Carl Hulse, Jeremy Peters, and Michael Shear, is the second highly critical Obama story this week from the Times, which earlier noted that Obama was crafting his use of executive power “almost entirely behind closed doors” with “lobbyists and interest groups.” The article reveals that Obama coolly dismissed Reid during a meeting with Sen. Mitch McConnell and two other members of Congress in a meeting in June. “You and Mitch work it out,”
