Reporters are on the scene in St. Louis, Missouri, just miles from Ferguson, where police officers reportedly shot and killed a 23-year-old African-American man wielding a knife. Initial reports indicate that the man entered a store with a knife and refused to leave after police were called. He was shot and killed after he allegedly lunged at police with the knife. In a press conference, police claimed the man was yelling, “Shoot me now, kill me now” before he was shot. The Department of Justice has 40 FBI agents canvassing Ferguson, Missouri to learn whether a white police officer should be charged with a ´civil rights´ crime for shooting an unarmed black teen, the agency confirmed on Tuesday. [Snip] The DOJ is conducting interviews with an eye toward determining if a federal case will be made of the shooting, regardless of whether the state of Missouri charges Wilson with murder or manslaughter. It´s conceivable that he might not be charged for killing the teen, but still face a trial in federal court for violating his civil rights.

CNN Anchor: ‘Why Not Use Water

CNN International anchor Rosemary Church wondered why the Ferguson police department aren’t using water cannons instead of indiscriminate tear gas on protesters and rioters — prompting an incredulous look from her co-anchor, who was clearly more aware of America’s history of race relations. Church made the comments in the early hours of Tuesday morning, as police battled armed rioters with clouds of tear gas and volleys of rubber bullets and stun grenades. “Why are they using this strategy?” she asked. “Why the use of tear gas, stun grenades? Why not perhaps use water cannon? At least it’s not going to

Iraqi Christian and Yazidi representatives will gather in Geneva on Tuesday to urge the U.N.’s top human rights body to hold an urgent meeting to discuss the plight of their imperiled communities. The Human Rights Council has largely ignored the issue up until now. The rally comes 10 days after a coalition of human rights advocacy groups and lawmakers from several countries urged U.N. high commissioner for human rights Navi Pillay to call for an emergency HRC session on the deadly jihadist campaign against Iraq’s religious minorities. As of early Tuesday the coalition had received no reply, confirmed U.N. Watch

As the media-sanctioned rioting, bloodshed and looting continue in Ferguson, Missouri, evidence is emerging that police shooting victim Michael Brown wasn’t the upstanding citizen that many on the Left have claimed him to be. All of this is happening as mobs have been attacking cops with Molotov cocktails and destroying community infrastructure. Some blacks in the region are reportedly randomly assaulting non-blacks as collective payback for what happened to Brown. Looting and property destruction are rampant. Scores of people have been arrested. Aircraft were ordered to fly at least 3,000 feet over Ferguson airspace after police said their helicopters were

Jerry Seinfeld exchanged words with another motorist in the Hamptons on Monday after she nearly backed into his prized wheels. The funnyman was sitting on a bench in East Hampton, across the street from his rare 1973 Porsche 911 RSR, when he spotted another car backing up to park in front his vehicle. But as that car got a little too close for Seinfeld’s comfort, he ran across the street and yelled at the 60-year-old female motorist to stop. The woman appeared to be frightened as she hit the brakes, and stepped out of her vehicle momentarily to hear Seinfeld’s angry words.

FOR MORE THAN A CENTURY THE 520,000-acre Waggoner Ranch has been an inseparable part of the culture and fabric of the Red River country west of Wichita Falls—and of Texas itself. It is the nation’s biggest ranch within the confines of a single fence, a spread so vast that it extends across six counties and covers more than eight hundred square miles. On the map of Texas it appears as a great emptiness south of Vernon, occupied only by the thin strip of U.S. 183/283. From the highway, its pastures seem timeless and impregnable. A government watchdog group has sued 12 federal agencies for allegedly withholding emails and other documents, in the latest episode in which the Obama administration is being challenged over its transparency. The conservative-leaning Cause of Action wants the documents in order to see whether agencies are being forced to channel basic public-information requests through the White House, so that politically sensitive material can be screened. The group filed the suit Monday in a District of Columbia federal court. The lawsuit says the agencies "stonewalled" the organization -- and claims the White House is "influencing" their response to record requests. “Accountable

In the summons, the IRS demanded a large quantity of records related to Park Southern Apartments, a sprawling set of towers along the District’s southern border. The complex became the subject of scrutiny after a Washington Post report detailing its dilapidated conditions and its owner’s default on a $3 million city-backed loan.

Everyone lobbies for special favors in Washington — it’s the town’s main industry.
