Michael Brown´s family has condemned the criminality that followed his shooting by a police officer, but some activists view the looting near St. Louis as a "wake-up call." "And we in some way have to thank them for giving us a wake-up call," community activist James Clark told MSNBC´s Lawrence O´Donnell Monday night. "And now that we have the wake-up call, we must mobilize and go into our neighborhoods and offer them a sense of hope and a sense of purpose." Two nights of looting, arson, vandalism and other criminal behavior followed Brown´s shooting on Saturday afternoon. Witnesses say Brown was unarmed when a white police officer shot him multiple times, killing

And Secretary of State John Kerry said he’ll "always be grateful" for Williams´ "personal friendship and his support for the causes that we both cared about deeply." Their statements on the death-by-suicide of the 63-year-old Williams -- a contributor to liberal Democratic candidates and causes -- are posted below. ISIS militants fighting in Iraq and Syria have reportedly issued Islamic State passports as part of their ongoing campaign of ´psychological warfare´. Following their attempt to form a caliphate in the vast area of the Middle East under their control, ISIS leaders are said to be introducing passports to give the unrecognised state an air of legitimacy. However experts believe the sinister black and white colouring of the document, which is based on the black jihadist flag flown by ISIS terrorists and warns of a ´deployment of armies´ if the holder comes to harm while travelling abroad, proved the passports are

Agents of the Islamic State are using “teaching vans” to recruit children to their cause and instruct them in the ways of violent jihad. A new documentary released from Vice News features video footage of a teaching van traveling to the Euphrates river in Syria. “God willing, this generation will fight infidels and apostates, the Americans and their allies, God willing,” one member of IS explains. “The right doctrine has been implanted into these children.” The film crew interviews small children who pledge their allegiance to the caliphate and vow to fight Americans. “I’d like to join the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria

Who wrote that no man is an island? English poet John Donne was wrong some 400 years ago. The president is seeking refuge and peace on Martha’s Vineyard off Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Long ago, the English sea captain who discovered and charted the graceful curving island named it for his daughter Martha. Ever since, its blue sky and water aura is calming and clear, kind to men with daughters. Barack Obama needs to heal from the cuts of Washington warfare. Actually, Obama is an island within an island now. He likes his own company. And he’s got briefing papers

President Barack Obama claimed Monday night during a Democratic Party fundraising dinner that the United States is ´stronger´ than it was when he assumed office in January 2009. His statement, though, appears to be at odds with key economic indicators, America´s sliding reputation abroad and the American public´s estimation of the direction the country has taken under the Obama administration. ´In all sorts of ways,´ Obama told Democratic partisans who paid between $15,000 to $32,400 to hear him speak, ´we are not just stronger than when we – where we were when I first came into office.´ ´It’s fair to

HOUSTON, Texas -- This school year, Texas taxpayers will likely be on the hook for approximately $45 million to educate the wave of Central American children who entered the U.S. illegally during recent months. Consequently, thousands of unaccompanied minors are expected to attend Texas public schools this year. Despite this, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is unable to put plans in place for accommodating the minors--the federal government has not revealed the number of foreign students to expect in each school district. A TEA spokeswoman told Breitbart Texas, "We just don´t know at this point whether to expect the children

Back when Al Gore was running for president in 2000 he had a line about “fighting for the people against the powerful.” It´s the standard line of the activist. No doubt it´s what the marginalized and dependent classes are looking for in a president. But if you are a responsible individual like me you find that sort of thing insulting. People of the Responsible Self don´t want some community organizer drilling them in a street protest; we just want a government that defends us from enemies foreign and domestic. Defending against enemies foreign and domestic is what governments are actually

Josh Earnest is either the most gullible individual ever to serve as White House press secretary or the least concerned with telling the American people the truth. In a letter Monday to a coalition of 42 journalism groups and media organizations, Earnest said this: "The president´s commitment to transparency and the crucial role of the independent press is unwavering. The president has set an historically high standard of transparency that is part of the legacy to which future presidents will aspire ..." President Obama and conservative rival Sen. Without that control, he added, the GOP will thwart his choices to the Supreme Court. “We’re going to have Supreme Court appointments, and there are going to be a whole host of issues that many people here care about that are going to be

Many were upset with how news outlets portrayed Brown, who was unarmed, after a cop shot and kill him Saturday in Ferguson. Young African-Americans started posting two pictures of themselves to Twitter — one more wholesome than the other— with a simple question: "If they gunned me down, which picture would they use?" FERGUSON, Mo.- The Rev. Al Sharpton says the shooting death of an unarmed 18-year-old black man by a St. Louis-area police officer is “very disturbing,” and the civil-rights leader is planning a visit to that suburb to make that known. Sharpton says he’s spoken with a grandfather of Michael Brown and plans to meet with the family in person Monday night or Tuesday in Ferguson. That’s where St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar says the shooting happened Saturday afternoon after an officer scuffled with one of two men. Brown was shot multiple times and died, though the investigation continues.
