SketchFactor app racistly helps users

A new app from smiling young white people in suits has come under fire for crowdsourcing tips on "sketchy" neighbourhoods in order to help pedestrians avoid trouble. Creators Daniel Herrington and Allison McGuire, who previously provoked anger over their GhettoTracker website, insist on their website they are not "racists, bigots, sexists" but are simply trying to help people "take the guesswork out of city nagivation". A press release for SketchFactor is very careful not to link "sketchy" areas with race or poverty, joking that unwanted encounters might include a man wearing no pants or an R Kelly cover artist

Obama´s narrow, specific,
extremely limited action in Iraq

The Drudge headline says, "Obama Bombs Iraq." The Washington Examiner headline says, "U.S. military aircraft conducts first airstrike in Iraq." The Washington Post headline says, "U.S. launches airstrikes against Islamic State in Iraq." All are entirely accurate, but what is perhaps most notable about President Obama´s rationale for action, laid out in a brief address to the nation Thursday night, is how precisely limited the president´s directive is. Some Republicans are calling for Obama to take broad and decisive action in Iraq. This is most definitely not it. In the president´s first sentence Wednesday night, he stressed that he was authorizing

An elementary school in the outer suburbs of Atlanta has outlawed birthday cupcakes, cookies and, in fact, all food from birthday parties over fears that some kids with food allergies could feel sad and left out. Officials at Brooks Elementary School in Newnan, Ga. announced the draconian new policy for the upcoming school year via a letter to parents, reports The Newnan Times-Herald. “When parents have brought in goodies for birthdays, oftentimes these children are not included in the snack because of dietary restrictions and have felt left out,” Julie Raschen, principal of Brooks Elementary, said, according to the Times-Herald.

Boehner Decries Obama’s ‘Absence

Speaker of the House John Boehner on Friday said he approves of President Obama’s airstrikes in Iraq, but denounced the administration for an apparent lack of a strategy to deal with the Islamic militants terrorizing the country and religious minorities. “The president’s authorization of airstrikes is appropriate, but like many Americans, I am dismayed by the ongoing absence of a strategy for countering the grave threat ISIS poses to the region,” Boehner said in a statement. “Vital national interests are at stake, yet the White House has remained disengaged despite warnings from Iraqi leaders, Congress, and even members of its

The Texas principal who was placed on administrative leave and then fired for telling Hispanic students at her middle school that they should speak English in the classroom can now speak freely — the gag order has expired — and says that her request only mirrored what’s written in state law. Amy Lacey was placed on administrative leave in 2013 after she asked via an intercom announcement that Hempstead Middle School students should speak English in the classroom. She shortly after learned that the school board declined to renew her contract and would be firing her. Meanwhile, reports swirled that Ms. Lacey

With midterm elections around the corner, and the 2016 presidential campaign season starting to kick into gear, Republican politicians are once again looking for a way to woo Latino voters to the ballot box in their favor. And one way they hope to draw in their votes is by looking south. Some GOP leaders in Washington have hindered the party´s relationship with the Hispanic bloc by comparing the current situation with the influx of Central American migrants as an “invasion” and passing legislation to accelerate the deportation of the unaccompanied children. Others, however, realizing the Latino vote cost them the White

The violent advances of Islamic militants in Iraq is not an isolated problem but rather a “growing global challenge” that needs to be dealt with, the top American general in Iraq told Army Times. “We must neutralize this enemy,” said Army Lt. Gen. Mick Bednarek, chief of the Office of Security Cooperation-Iraq in a Wednesday phone interview. “This is not just an Iraqi issue. This is not just a regional issue. This is a common enemy issue that we’ve got to address.” Islamic State fighters have advanced across the northern and western parts of Iraq, seizing control of cities such as Mosul

It´s back-to-school season across the country. But in an increasing number of districts, "back to school" doesn´t mean back to learning. Under the reign of social justice indoctrinators, academics are secondary to political agitation. Activism trumps achievement. In Massachusetts, the John J. Duggan Middle School will open on August 25 with a new name and mission. It is now a "social justice magnet school." As a hiring advertisement for teachers explained earlier this year, the emphasis will be on "helping students develop the necessary skills to analyze and synthesize information and to generate empathy by looking at multiple sides of

In an interview with the New Yorker’s David Remnick in January, President Obama dismissed ISIS as the “jayvee”: "The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant." Yesterday, with much of Iraq now in the jayvee’s hands, Obama finally recognized it as enough of a threat to warrant the authorization of U.S. military action. Sort of: "To stop the advance on Irbil, I directed our military to take targeted strikes against ISIL terrorist convoys should they move towards the city." What is

A Nevada family reportedly is grappling with more than $1 million in medical bills, after the insurance they bought on the ObamaCare exchange refused to pay claims over a typo and other issues. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Kynell and Amber Smith are dealing with a six-month nightmare. It all started when Amber Smith in February delivered her daughter five weeks early. Her 40-day hospital stay reportedly included two surgeries. But the Review-Journal reports that the Anthem Blue Cross insurance they got through the Nevada Health Link -- an ObamaCare exchange -- is not paying claims. The payments are being denied, reportedly

They were the ultimate symbol of the lawlessness and blight of the 1980s and early 1990s — and now they’re making a comeback. Squeegee men are menacing motorists across New York City, including spots near the Holland, Lincoln and Queens-Midtown tunnels, as well as the Queensboro Bridge, The Post has learned. Residents and drivers who pass through the areas said the panhandlers are spraying and wiping windshields without permission to shake down drivers for cash. Their sudden return is an ominous sign according to the proven “broken windows” theory that has kept the city safe by having cops crack down

Cory Booker may be the most puzzling man in the Senate. We don’t know where he lives. We don’t know whom, if anyone, he lives with. And he’s been caught in lie after lie about his heroics. Yet, this enigma of a man has emerged as the king of odd-couple bromance, using selfies and Instagram posts to burnish his stardom even as he appears surprisingly vulnerable in his upcoming bid for reelection. Take, as an instance of his mysteriousness, his reported affinity for “mani-pedis.” While mayor of Newark, Booker told Du Jour magazine that he “found this 24-hour mani-pedi place” where

It may well be that ISIS is one of at least two too-clever-by-half operations masterminded by our enemies. At the beginning, ISIS spun off from Al Qaeda because, we were told, Zawahari was too moderate for them. AQ didn’t slaughter enough, didn’t crucify enough, wasn’t psychotic enough for their taste. It seems that Iran gave ISIS support, in keeping with its well-documented practice of supporting all sides in other countries’ internal conflicts, the better to a) figure out what’s going on, b) penetrate organizations that might win, and seem actually or potentially dangerous to Tehran, and c) spread riot and ruin,

After its last meeting at the end of July, the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) announced that it has “directed staff to undertake a more focused analysis of industry-wide products and activities” in the asset management industry. This has been interpreted as a step back from the FSOC´s earlier position that the financial distress of large asset managers — or at least the funds they manage — could have systemic effects on the U.S. financial system and thus warrant designation as systemically important financial institutions, or SIFIs. The Wall Street Journal reported that the FSOC had “agreed to revamp their

HOUSTON, Texas -- As Central American illegal immigrants continue to pour across the U.S.-Mexico border, federal agents are releasing tens of thousands of them onto U.S. soil. Consequently, public schools around the nation must gear up to accommodate undocumented children. In Texas alone, around 4,800 foreign minors have been set free--assuming these minors are not immediately deported, they will be expected to enter the public school system come fall. Many Texans have expressed concern over the cost these minors will force onto taxpayers. Due to language barriers, it will likely be more expensive to educate the immigrant children than it is

The month of July saw a decrease in the number of apprehensions of unaccompanied minors and family units illegally crossing the southern border into the United States, according to new data released by the Department of Homeland Security. In July, 5,508 unaccompanied minors and 7,410 adults with children were apprehended in what DHS is describing as a “significant decrease.” By comparison, in June the government apprehended 10,628 unaccompanied minors and 16,330 adults with children illegally entering the U.S. through the southwest border. “While the decrease in apprehensions in July is good news and reflects a positive trend that we hope continues, the current

This horrific crime happened not too far from the same border that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) sedately insisted was “secure.”

But you cannot say that the man is popular. Lord knows he´s not popular. Look, it’s no secret that Bush left the White House in 2009 a deeply disliked person, his approval rating sinking to an all-time low of just 25 percent, according

WASHINGTON— After years of resisting the pull of more Mideast conflicts, President Barack Obama has sent the military back into action in Iraq, where he once accused his predecessor of waging a "dumb war." U.S. planes on Friday bombed Islamic militants who were towing artillery outside Irbil near U.S. personnel, the Pentagon said. The aggressive insurgency threatens to undermine Obama´s legacy as the commander in chief who ended a long and unpopular war in which nearly 4,500 American troops died. It also raises fresh questions about whether Obama´s desire to end the war clouded his assessment of the risks of

If that seems like an extreme question, consider the steadily accumulating evidence about the Obama administration´s modus operandi with potentially incriminating documents subpoenaed by Congress: A scandal erupts. Congressional hearings are held. Documents are requested and withheld. Subpoenas are issued. Contempt charges threatened. A few documents dribble out. Then come the admissions that, oh by the way, emails required by multiple federal laws to be preserved have either
