‘Extraordinarily Irresponsible’ —
Obama Gives Pointless, Yet Damaging,
Press Conference
PJ Media, by Bryan Preston    Original Article

President Obama gave a press conference this evening. He started a little over an hour late without explanation. Reporters stuck to asking questions that they evidently knew Obama would be comfortable answering. None of them asked him about any of his administration scandals. ABC’s Jon Karl, usually a tough questioner of Obama and his spokesmen, asked a rambling question that played right into the Democrats’ “economic patriotism” canard. Despite the fact that the president showed a passionless, bloodless, disinterested face to the world, he still managed to do some damage. Chris Jansing of CNN asked Obama if the sanctions against Russia are working.

Obama Defends Use Of Executive

President Barack Obama defended his use of executive power as a means to bypass gridlock in Congress during a press conference at the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit on Wednesday. "The American people don´t want me just standing around twiddling my thumbs and waiting for Congress to get something done," Obama said. The president repeatedly indicated he would prefer to work with Congress to find legislative solutions on a slew of issues including funding for federal infrastructure projects and the border crisis. However, in the face of what he described as "dysfunction" in Congress, Obama said he would "scour our authority to try to

President Obama on Wednesday dismissed charges that he broke the law by going around Congress on issues ranging from health care to immigration. “I never have a green light. I’m bound by the Constitution. I’m bound by separation of powers,” Obama said at a press conference, concluding a Washington summit on Africa. “What I can do is scour our authorities to try to make progress,” Obama added of his approach in the face of congressional gridlock. House Republicans brought a lawsuit against Obama for delaying the employer mandate in his signature health law. And Obama is weighing whether to expand the deferral of

Foundation Beyond Belief, the nation’s largest humanist charity organization, launched a campaign last month to raise money for the legal representation of “child refugees who have fled poverty and violence to reach the Southern border of the United States in recent months.” Two beneficiaries have been chosen to receive these funds – Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) and The Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project, which focus on providing lawyers for unaccompanied illegal minors in immigration hearings. Both groups have offices in Texas, Arizona and California and already offer legal assistance. However, they need resources to handle the uptick in unaccompanied

The University of Mississippi will require university officials to use discretion when identifying the school as “Ole Miss” because it could be understood as a racist nickname. “UM’s longstanding nickname is beloved by the vast majority of its students and alumni,” says a statement from Ole Miss. “But a few, especially some university faculty, are uncomfortable with it. Some don’t want it used at all and some simply don’t want it used within the academic context.” The university says it conducted a national study during the last year and found that the “vast majority of respondents don’t attach any meaning

IRS Abolishes Mandatory Expiration Dates

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) quietly changed regulations to allow more undocumented immigrants to keep their taxpayer status through a program that is rife with fraud and abuse, and to delay deactivation of immigrant taxpayer status until 2016. The IRS now prevents peoples’ Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) from automatically expiring after five years as previously mandated. Now immigrants can keep their ITIN so long as they pay taxes at least once in a five-year period. The ITIN program is primarily used by undocumented workers to follow the law and file income taxes in the United States. Reports came out during

National Journal reporter Ron Fournier warned that President Obama’s threatened executive action granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants would be “a nuclear bomb that would blow open and make this country even more divided.” Fournier spoke Wednesday on a Fox News panel with host Bret Baier, The Hill’s A.B. Stoddard, conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer and National Review’s Jonah Goldberg, with the group discussing the issues surrounding the November midterm elections and the prospects for the two parties. But Stoddard brought up the subject of impeachment, warning that it may factor heavily in the electoral strategies of both Republicans and

Concerned about Ebola? You’re

A deadly disease is set to hit the shores of the US, UK and much of the rest of the northern hemisphere in the coming months. It will swamp our hospitals, lay millions low and by this time next year between 250,000 and 500,000 worldwide will be dead, thousands of them in the US and Britain. Despite the best efforts of the medical profession, there’s no reliable cure, and no available vaccine offers effective protection for longer than a few months at a time. If you’ve been paying attention to recent, terrifying headlines, you may assume the illness is the

Barack Obama´s Ivy-League educated half-brother is publishing his autobiography next month, painting a dramatically different picture of their few meetings from the one the president related in his best-selling ´Dreams from My Father´ memoir. I wonder how the Ebola doctor feels now that his humanitarian trip has cost a Christian charity much more than any services he rendered. What was the point? Whatever good Dr. Kent Brantly did in Liberia has now been overwhelmed by the more than $2 million already paid by the Christian charities Samaritan´s Purse and SIM USA just to fly him and his nurse home in separate Gulfstream jets, specially equipped with medical tents, and to care for them at one of America´s premier hospitals. Former Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton warned of the perilous new age our world has sunken into under President Obama’s leadership. Bolton appeared on Fox Business Wednesday and hammered the president for his failure to effectively lead. “The world is descended into chaos,” Bolton said. He referenced a new WSJ/NBC poll that found Americans are panicking over the uncertain, dismal state of our country. The poll found that only 36 percent of Americans surveyed approve of President Obama’s foreign policy. The former Ambassador warned that if America cowers from a position of power, “you are going to have

One of the many questions surrounding the revelation that Americans Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol received a little-known, experimental serum for their Ebola infection is: "Why did we hear nothing about it earlier, and how did they gain access to it?" (Snip) First, it violates the principle of distributive justice: The benefits of the drug are being inequitably distributed, with skilled, economically secure professionals more likely to benefit. Also, by what reckoning do we decide that the doctors´ role increases their value and dictates they should be given a preferential chance to survive? Distributing the drug through a clinical trial
