Benghazi probe presses

The GOP-led House Select Committee on the Benghazi terror attack shows no sign of backing down despite a report from another congressional panel that, according to a top Democrat, found no intelligence failures around the deadly 2012 assault. "There is more work to be done and more to be investigated," a spokeswoman for House Select Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy told CNN on Wednesday. Shortly before beginning its August recess, the House Intelligence Committee, also led by Republicans, approved its report on the militant attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in eastern Libya that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. The president, vice president and a former State Department official with the Obama administration took advantage of the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit this week in Washington, D.C., as an opportunity to advance the homosexual rights agenda. “Despite the focus and emphasis on these issues, the United States has remained committed to its principles of strengthening and promoting democratic institutions, encouraging good governance and accountability and also promoting good human rights, including respect for the LBG [lesbian, bisexual, gay] communities across Africa,” Johnnie Carson, former assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs under Hillary Clinton and senior adviser at the U.S. Institute

It doesn´t get much more cool and easy breezy than FLOTUS in a topknot. Seriously, if you looked up "summertime" in the dictionary, you´d see this picture of Michelle Obama in a bright yellow sundress and a chic updo. The first fady looked positively radiant in a gorgeous neon yellow chiffon dress by Prabal Gurung during the United States-Africa summit dinner Tuesday night. Obama is a known fan of the Nepalese designer, and we adore this vibrant and effortless look on her. She also often favors bright, bold colors—and this shade of electric lemon yellow? Perfection. LOUISVILLE – Just three days after all looked lost, Tiger´s back is back, and he with it. The back spasms that he said caused him so much pain Sunday afternoon seemed to have disappeared Wednesday. Tiger Woods uneventfully, even blithely, hit a few dozen shots at the driving range as the gallery grew, then went out to the course, where he hit his first tee shot down the middle of the fairway. While he still appeared to have far from a perfect gait little more than four months after back surgery, he looked spry, and seemed thrilled to be back

Democrats throw kitchen sink at

Democrats are throwing the kitchen sink at Republicans in a bid to keep the Senate and erode the GOP’s House majority in November’s elections. While the Democrats’ official campaign strategy focuses wholly on the economy, education and women’s rights, party leaders have charged into the August recess with a much broader message that paints Republicans as too tough on immigrants, too easy on corporate election donors and too focused on toppling President Obama in lieu of helping the middle class. The wider emphasis could pay dividends in November’s midterms, as the Democrats are highlighting issues that tend to poll strongly

President Barack Obama drew the diplomatic line somewhere at the first ever U.S-Africa summit at the White House this week by not inviting Zimbabwe’s brutal dictator Robert Mugabe. But the guest list still included several other African leaders with only slightly better human rights records. The White House promoted the summit as the largest-ever gathering of African leaders in the United States, with more than 50 countries represented. The red carpet was rolled out for Equatorial Guinea´s Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who shot or jailed virtually all his political opponents, Gambia’s Yahya Jammeh, who threatened to ‘cut off the head’ of any homosexuals

They are scared of lettuce. They abhor pumpkins. They practise maybe the oldest religion in the world. And now, after at least 6,000 years, they are finally being exterminated, even as I write this. If you haven’t noticed this epochal crime--the raping and the slaughter--you’re not alone. Of late, the world has focused on the horrors of Gaza. When we’ve had time to acknowledge the Satanic cruelties of Isis, in Iraq, we’ve looked to the barbaric treatment of women, and Christians. Yet the genocide of the Yezidi, by Isis, is as evil as anything going on right now in the Middle

t is the softly spoken radio show that provides good-natured help and advice to thousands of gardeners every week. So regular listeners to Gardeners’ Question Time may be horrified to discover it has been accused of peddling racial stereotypes. According to an academic, the sedate Radio 4 panel show is riddled with "racial meanings" disguised as horticultural advice. One current presenter, Bob Flowerdew, rubbished the idea, calling it “ridiculous”, and asked whether experts on the show “should stop using Latin names to avoid offending the Romans”. Ladies and gentlemen, I suspect you’ll understand that my kind words for former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell rank among my biggest professional regrets. This is for several reasons, but preeminently, it appears the governor and his wife turned themselves into walking infomercials for the dietary supplements produced by one of the governor’s top donors. And they may very well have behaved in a manner you and I would consider… not quite sane: A day earlier, a onetime aide testified that after then-governor McDonnell endorsed Mitt Romney for president in 2012, McDonnell’s wife sought out the candidate at a news media

Israel has arrested a man from Hebron who it says has confessed that the operation to abduct and murder three Israeli teens in June was funded by Hamas in Gaza. Hussam Qawasmeh was arrested on 11 July in the Shuafat neighbourhood of East Jerusalem by an elite Israeli anti-terrorism unit who had been tipped off by intelligence from the Shabbak agency, Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld told The Telegraph. Mr Qawasmeh, a resident of Hebron in the West Bank, was trying to obtain a fake passport in order to flee into Jordan, Mr Rosenfeld said. On Tuesday night, details about

President Obama’s much-rumored executive order granting legal status to potentially millions of illegal immigrants will be “disastrous” to African-American job seekers and a slap in the fact to others proceeding through the tedious legal immigration process, charges a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Peter Kirsanow, a black commissioner on the eight-member panel, warned in a letter (below) to Obama this week that giving legal status to undocumented workers will pave the way for them to take the few jobs that blacks, especially African-American men, need. “I write to remind you of the disastrous effect of illegal immigration

She was only caught after the plane landed at Los Angeles International Airport and the crew counted the passengers who remained on board for the final destination to Phoenix. The “Hard Choices” book tour drags on. Last night, author and former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton walked onto the set of “The Colbert Report.” In what was presented as a surprise visit, she appeared just as Colbert was fake-denouncing various passages of “Hard Choices.” “This book is 656 pages of shameless name-dropping,” ripped the host, highlighting a sentence in which Clinton talks about hanging out with Tanzanian Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda. After highlighting other such moments in the book, Colbert asked, “There is no way on earth one woman can be in so many places at once.” At

If you are going to have a scandal, it really, really helps to be a Democrat if you are worried about media coverage. Consider the cases of neighboring big state governors Chris Christie and Andrew Cuomo. Christie’s “Bridgegate” scandal was a tale of political revenge involving the placement of orange traffic cones. Cuomo’s “Morelandgate” scandal is about a governor shutting down an investigation into political corruption (by the Moreland Commission) when it started getting close to home. Let’s see: which is worse: snarling traffic or covering up potential corruption? From the media response, you’d think traffic cones are vastly more

Only 2% to 7% of spending data on USASpending.gov is "fully consistent with agencies´ records," according to the report. Among the data missing from the 6-year-old federal website: The Department of Health and Human Services failed to report nearly $544 billion, mostly in direct assistance programs like Medicare. Saturday, August 9 marks the fortieth anniversary of President Richard Nixon’s resignation over the scandal known as Watergate. It’s hard to believe but 40 years after Nixon’s resignation the American public still does not know who ordered the Watergate break-in, what the burglars were looking for and why they did it. The mainstream media narrative about Watergate is a grotesque and fantastic distortion of historical fact. No one has sought to control this narrative more than former White House Counsel John Dean. Through his books, interviews, paid speeches, lawsuits and litigation Dean has spun the myth that he was a naïve and
