(Video)The House late Friday revived and approved a Republican-authored border crisis bill after GOP leaders hurriedly resolved an internal battle that scuttled the vote a day earlier – but with the Senate on recess and the House soon to follow, there’s little chance of any bill reaching President Obama’s desk until the fall. The president now is vowing to act unilaterally to address the illegal immigration issue. The House legislation was approved on a 223-189 vote. The new version of the bill adds additional funding for the National Guard and includes policy changes meant to speed deportations of illegal immigrant children surging

President Obama is preparing to announce new measures that would potentially allow millions of illegal immigrants to remain in the United States without fear of deportation, a politically explosive decision that could jolt Washington just weeks before the midterm elections, according to people who have been in touch with the White House. Administration officials have told allies in private meetings that both the current surge of Central American children crossing the border and Congress’s failure this year to pass a broader immigration overhaul have propelled the president toward taking action on his own by summer’s end. Obama aides have discussed

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Nobody — even those among their ranks — thought it could happen, but House conservatives cracked GOP leadership to get almost everything they wanted out of a supplemental appropriations immigration bill before the Congress broke officially for recess. Conservatives capitalized on a perfect storm of the new House GOP leadership team´s inability to whip enough votes Thursday and the hardline stance of key conservatives. Their effort was aided by aggressive movement activists, the conservative media, and a national mood against President Barack Obama — which led many Americans to call their representatives demanding they come up with

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) praised House Republicans late Friday evening for standing strong on immigration and warned Democrats in Congress that they will be held accountable for supporting amnesty for illegal aliens. “I applaud the hard work of House Republicans in putting together this package, and in particular would like to recognize the steadfast and unflinching efforts from members of our Alabama delegation,” Sessions said in a statement provided exclusively to Breitbart News. “The border bill has been substantially improved, and provides a marked contrast to the Senate Democrat bill—defeated on a bipartisan basis—that only

(Video) The Democrats thought it would be a good idea to invite Professor Charles Tiefer, a fierce critic of the GOP’s lawsuit against President Obama, to testify against the creation of a Special Counsel for the IRS scandal. They were wrong. Trey Gowdy’s tough and incisive arguments put Tiefer on the defensive, making it difficult for the Harvard Law grad to answer even basic questions: “Would you seat a juror, in a trial, who referred to your client as an obscene body part?” “I really have trouble to giving you an answer except that—“ “Well, then you would starve to death

ABUJA, Nigeria — In an ominous warning as fatalities mounted in West Africa from the worst known outbreak of the Ebola virus, the head of the World Health Organization said on Friday that the disease was moving faster than efforts to curb it, with potentially catastrophic consequences, including a “high risk” that it will spread. The assessment was among the most dire since the outbreak was identified in March. The outbreak has been blamed for the deaths of 729 people, according to W.H.O. figures, and has left over 1,300 people with confirmed or suspected infections. Dr. Margaret Chan, the W.H.O.

AKRON, Ohio -- Sergio Garcia doesn´t know anything about being in a zone. He had no trouble identifying the best round of his career. Garcia one-putted the final 11 holes and made birdies on his last seven holes Friday in the Bridgestone Invitational to tie the course record at Firestone with a 9-under 61 and take a three-shot lead into the weekend. He had a birdie putt on every hole on the back nine, missing only a 15-footer from the fringe at No. 11. Garcia shot 27 on the back nine, a course record. "Just one of those moments that

America can´t do it all. That was the overarching message from a somber and occasionally weary-sounding President Barack Obama as he briefed reporters Friday on a cascade of global crises. "Apparently, people have forgotten that America, as the most powerful country on earth, still does not control everything around the world," the president said in response to a question from veteran CBS reporter Bill Plante about whether the U.S. – and Obama himself – had lost influence in the world. Topping the list of affronts to world peace on Friday was the deteriorating situation in the Middle East after a

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., on Friday scheduled a Sept. 8 procedural vote on a constitutional amendment to limit the amount of money that can be donated to campaigns, a measure that´s likely more about curbing donations to conservative candidates than it is about about cleaning up politics. Meanwhile, the U.S.-Mexico border is being overrun by thousands of unaccompanied illegal minors and lawmakers have yet to come up with a solution to the growing humanitarian crisis. Think about it: Just before Senate business ended Friday, with roughly 100 lawmakers skipping town to return to their home districts for the five-week

The measure (HB 5279), introduced Wednesday says, “A 20-ounce bottle of soda contains about 16 teaspoons of sugars. Yet, the American Heart Association recommends that Americans consume no 6 more than six to nine teaspoons of sugar per day." Representative Luis Gutiérrez? Joining the Congressional Hispanic Caucus as the House awaits a vote on a border bill, Gutiérrez? first spoke in English, criticizing Republicans’ approach to addressing the border crisis and accusing them of putting political gain over helping the unaccompanied children crossing the border. The remarks were critical, as one would expect; the furthest he went was to claim that Republicans speak about Hispanics “almost as though we are a

BOSTON - Massachusetts lawmakers on Friday tightened the state´s already strict gun laws by passing a measure that gives police chiefs authority to turn down a resident´s requests to buy a rifle or shotgun if they believe the person may be a danger. House lawmakers overrode objections from gun-rights advocates in the state Senate who had opposed the measure, worrying that police chiefs could abuse the authority to deny firearms to law-abiding citizens.
