Suspended for Abuse,

The Baltimore Ravens really are blessed. Let’s say Ray Rice, the team’s Pro Bowl running back, had tested positive for steroids. Under league rules, he would have faced a minimum four-game suspension. A punishment that severe might have gotten in the way of this fine team of men and their playoff drive. Instead Rice drove his hand into his then-fiancée’s head, knocking her cold last February in an elevator at an Atlantic City casino. In the National Football League, domestic battery apparently counts as half-a-roid, good for a two-game suspension. After the N.F.L. handed down its suspension and a fine exceeding $500,000, and

Underpants bomber failed in mission

The notorious underwear bomber´s plot in 2009 to blow up a plane on Christmas Day failed because the explosives became ´degraded´ after he wore the same pair of underpants for two weeks, according to a U.S. official. Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was on a suicide mission when he attempted to detonate a bomb in his underpants as the plane, en route from Amsterdam, approached Detroit. The bomb however failed to detonate aboard the flight, which was carrying nearly 300 people, but caused a brief fire that caused burns to his groin.

With the fighting in Gaza intensifying daily, the ruling militant group Hamas is finding itself pushed to the limit. Trying to match Israel’s vast military might is an impossible task, and even finding the resources to launch rocket attacks against Israeli targets could only be achieved by heavy foreign investment. (Cut) The militant Palestinian organization has been a firm fixture on the United States’ Foreign Terrorist Organizations list since 1997. Hamas’ only hope is its neighbors in the Arab World. Hamas has two clear allies, according to Middle East experts: Qatar and Turkey. Both have given Hamas their public support and financial assistance

The View chat show is in chaos after producers hopeful that conservative Meghan McCain might join the team turned down the offer. After losing all their co-hosts except for Whoopi Goldberg, the show is in turmoil as they struggle to find suitable replacements. Barbara Walters retired, Sherri Shepherd moved on after seven years and Jenny McCarthy left the show after just one season. McCain, 29, is currently a panelist on

GAZA CITY — Israel´s Security Cabinet unanimously rejected a cease-fire proposal Friday that called for a week-long truce in the deadly conflict. The proposal by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry called for a temporary pause in fighting to allow Israelis and Palestinians to broker a broader deal. Israeli TV reported the deal was rejected mainly because Israel would have to cut short its effort at destroying Hamas tunnels. Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon told troops Friday that Israel may significantly widen the Gaza ground operation.

The Bible Baptist Church in Carthage, Missouri, invited National Guard personnel to be honored at its annual Vacation Bible School as part of “God’s Rescue Squad” — but the troops never showed because the military forbids them from attending such an event. “We were going to thank them for protecting our religious liberty,” Pastor Kent Hogan told Fox News. “It was more of a promotion for the military — to show the kids what the military does.” The church, which had held similar events earlier in the week for the local fire department, paramedics and the county sheriff’s department, was told that federal regulations

A psychology class at Ohio State University implied in an online survey that atheists are just naturally more intelligent than Christians — and at least one student said it’s an outrage. The quiz from a Psychology 1100 class at the college poses the question, Campus Reform first reported: “Theo has an IQ of 100 and Aine has an IQ of 125 — which statement can you expect to be true?” Students are then directed to choose from the following answers: Option one is “Aine earns less money than Theo.” Option two reads “Theo is more liberal than Aine.” Option three: “Theo is an atheist, while Aine is a Christian.” Option four: “Theo is a Christian,

Washington - The Pentagon said on Friday the transfer of heavy-caliber multiple-launch rocket systems from Russia to Ukrainian separatists appeared to be imminent with the arms close enough to the border they could be handed over "potentially today." "We have indications that the Russians intend to supply heavier and more sophisticated multiple-launch rocket systems in the very near future," said Army Colonel Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, adding that the weapons were in the over-200mm range. Warren indicated the weapons had been seen getting closer to the border and the Pentagon believed a transfer was imminent and could

On the day Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg became wealthier than the founders of Google and Amazon, his pro-amnesty group launched a letter-writing campaign to Congress to push for permanent comprehensive amnesty legislation. On Thursday, FWD.us, which has spent millions of dollars on both sides of the aisle to push comprehensive amnesty legislation, urged amnesty advocates to write letters to their Representatives urging action on amnesty legislation. The online application asks supporters to: Tell your story of why immigration reform matters to you. Then, enter your information and we´ll take care of mailing the letter to your representative!

State transportation officials are moving forward with a controversial plan to add toll lanes to a busy stretch of the 405 Freeway in Orange County despite strong opposition from nearby cities who argue the so-called "Lexus lanes" will hurt average commuters. In December, Orange County Transportation Authority board members opted not to support the toll lanes in favor of a plan that would add one free lane in each direction, even though they were warned at the time that state officials may override the decision anyway. On Friday, the California Department of Transportation announced it was doing just that, arguing the toll lanes would

As is always the case with anything involving former-Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, our unbiased, objective, not-at-all-liberal media couldn´t wait to mock her impeachment case against President Obama -- but not everyone is laughing. According to reporting from The Hill, The White House fears exactly that should the president take executive action to grant amnesty to thousands of illegals. Senior White House advisers are taking very seriously the possibility that Republicans in Congress will try to impeach President Obama, especially if he takes executive action to slow deportations. Dan Pfeiffer, a senior adviser to Obama, said Friday that the White House

"I was sitting right there," says Mick Jagger, pointing at a row of seats in the famous first balcony at New York´s Apollo Theater. He is remembering how, as a young fan back in England, he had worn out the grooves on his copy of James Brown´s 1963 album, "Live at the Apollo." Then, he says, he watched from the balcony in 1964 as the Hardest-Working Man in Show Business performed his splits and spins and dropped to his knees begging and screaming "Please Please Please." Fifty years later, Mr. Jagger is back at the Apollo, speaking in the historic

Did Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber make the same mistake twice? A new audio clip finds him once again explaining that Obamacare subsidies are tied to state health exchanges. A clip of Jonathan Gruber circulated last night in which he states that Obamacare subsidies are tied to the existence of state exchanges. This statement is extremely problematic for the law´s supporters because it appears to confirm the view of plaintiffs in the Halbig case, i.e. that only state-exchanges were intended to deliver subsidies. This morning Gruber told the New Republic´s Jonathan Cohn that he doesn´t know why he said it at

Law enforcement and intelligence agencies want to be able to wiretap social media, instant message and chat services. But building in ways to wiretap these kinds of communication can lead to less secure systems, say technical experts, including former National Security Agency officials. Some security experts suggest hacking as an alternative, but other experts – including FBI officials -- say that method poses serious risks. Right now, only phone companies, broadband providers and some Internet phone services are required by law to build in intercept capabilities, but the government wants to extend that requirement to online
