Hillary Clinton stands by ´Russian

Washington (CNN) - It worked. That is the argument former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made during a Thursday interview about her much talked about 2009 reset of U.S.-Russia relations. The statement comes as Russia, under President Vladimir Putin, has distanced itself from the United States, and the country is widely seen by U.S. and European analysts as linked to the downing of a passenger airliner earlier this month in Ukraine. "What I think I demonstrate in the book, is that the reset worked," Clinton told guest host John Harwood on NPR´s “On Point” on Thursday during a conversation about

Ron Dermer, the Israeli ambassador to the United States, appeared on CNN tonight and wasted no time in scolding CNN’s coverage of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Dermer told Erin Burnett repeatedly the network is doing a great disservice by not giving its viewers all the facts about what’s happening in the region. Dermer was shocked that a CNN report on U.N. schools being targeted didn’t mention several important facts, including the Secretary-General of the United Nations condemning the placement of rockets by Hamas in those buildings to begin with. (Ban Ki-Moon did also urge caution about Israeli

Tevin Lee seemed to be a West Side teen headed in the right direction, graduating from high school and working this summer at a church in a job designed to help prevent community violence. Charles Norman, who worked with Lee in the anti-violence program, described him as a very humble kid who was eager to learn. (Snip) Norman was stunned to learn Thursday morning that Lee had been charged in the latest shooting to rock Chicago – the killing of 11-year-old Shamiya Adams as she sat on the floor of a West Side apartment playing with friends on a sleepover.

Congress is moving to officially designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and impose sanctions on any person who provides the group and its affiliates with “material support,” according to a copy of the legislation obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act of 2014—sponsored by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R., Minn.)—seeks to slap U.S. sanctions on the organization’s political center in Egypt as well as scores of affiliates operating across America and Europe, according to the bill. The bill currently has seven cosponsors: Peter Roskam (R., Ill.), Trent Franks (R., Ariz.), Cynthia Lummis

Former Texas congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul, who is often accused of blaming America for terrorist attacks, said Wednesday he does not blame America–instead, he blames neoconservatives. Reason magazine’s Peter Suderman asked Paul, “You have been accused in the past of blaming America for violent acts, for terrorist acts. I want to know first how you respond to that charge.” Paul called that characterization “a fallacy and a misrepresentation of what I say.” “I don’t blame America,” Paul said. “I’m America, you’re America. I don’t blame you, I blame bad policy, I blame the interventionists, I blame the neoconservatives

President Barack Obama accused Republicans in Congress of intentionally promoting policies that "harm million of Americans" on Thursday at a technical college in Los Angeles. While Obama made his pitch for legislation to close loopholes U.S. corporations use to avoid paying taxes, he attacked the GOP-controlled House of Representatives. "What really is going on is that Republicans in Congress are directly blocking policy that would help million of Americans," Obama said. "They are promoting policies that harm million of Americans." Republicans are "going in the wrong direction," the president said, adding, "Our economy doesn´t grow form the top down; it

Talk radio’s Mark Levin is in a legal knife fight with Barack Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency and may have the EPA by the throat in what would be a humiliation for the Obama White House. Levin is a talk radio giant and conservative hero (“The Great One,” as Sean Hannity describes him). But he’s also actually a lawyer, who served as chief of staff to a leader held in the highest reverence by conservatives, Attorney General Edwin Meese. And Levin continues to litigate through Landmark Legal Foundation, where he is president. Landmark is seeking information from EPA that would prove

Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández said the mixed messages from the Obama administration on the country´s immigration laws have contributed to thousands of his citizens believing that amnesty awaits them across the U.S.-Mexico border. In an interview with Time before Obama met with the leaders of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador at the White House on Wednesday evening, Hernandez said, "The lack of clarity of U.S. immigration policy" was one of the primary factors compelling migrants to make harrowing journeys to the United States. He said smugglers and coyotes are "disgracefully" convincing Hondurans to make journeys to America by telling them, "Now

STOCKTON, Calif. — Prosecutors in Central California have obtained an arrest warrant for a tuberculosis patient who they say is contagious and has refused treatment. San Joaquin County Deputy District Attorney Stephen Taylor said Thursday that police are looking for 25-year-old Eduardo Rosas Cruz, a transient who comes from a part of Mexico known for a drug-resistant strain of tuberculosis. Tuberculosis spreads through the air when infected people cough, sneeze, or otherwise expel air from their lungs. The disease can be deadly. Prosecutors say Rosas Cruz was diagnosed in March when he went to the hospital for treatment of a

McCain spoke to Politico about the execution and said that while he supports the death penalty, the way last night’s unfolded “is not an acceptable way of carrying it out.” He called it a “terrible” incident and said, “The lethal injection needs to be an indeed lethal injection and not the bollocks-upped situation that just

At the very end of an interview with CNBC’s Steve Liesman Thursday, President Barack Obama addressed the accusations, from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and others, that the Federal Aviation Administration’s decision to ban U.S. flights from landing in Israel for 48 hours was politically motivated. Obama called the move “purely technical,” saying the United States does not make “decisions when it comes to airline safety” based on “politics” or “even our strong alliance with Israel.” He elaborated: “The initial ban that was imposed by the FAA was based on Israel needing to show us that in fact it was safe for commercial airlines

President Obama put his rosy glasses on for an interview with CNBC on Thursday, claiming “It’s pretty hard to find an economic measure where we’re not significantly better off.” Obama spoke with CNBC’s Steve Liesman about the economic policies pushed by the White House and what the federal government expects going forward. “What can you tell average Americans about the outlook of the economy?” Liesman asked, noting that even Obama’s own former economic advisor Larry Summers is forecasting lower growth over the next few years. Obama dismissed that notion. “If you think about where we were, Steve, when I came

Dear President Barack Obama, You are the leader of the free world. Here in the Middle East, where we live, freedom is running out. Countries and entire regions are falling into the hands of brain-washed, hate-filled extremists, who slaughter anyone who doesn’t think the same way they think or agree with all their religious beliefs. Look at what’s happening in Syria, Iraq, in the Sinai Desert and many other places. You know full well, Mr. President, that in its war against Hamas, Israel embodies the forces of light, and Hamas the forces of darkness. A veritable Gunfight at the OK

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), an immigration hawk, shredded House Speaker John Boehner´s working group border crisis recommendations in a Wednesday afternoon statement, calling Boehner’s plan an “institutional surrender to the planned illegality” of President Barack Obama. “The border crisis is the direct and predictable result of the President’s sustained policies undermining America’s immigration laws,” Sessions said in his statement on the Boehner working group proposal. Sessions said: The President’s continued determination to carry out this nullification remains the singular obstacle in the way of restoring lawfulness. It is therefore odd that the House working group did not mention

Oh no, oh no … I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Newsday reported. Browne’s head was hacked off with “a
