Giglio, Italy -- The wrecked Costa Concordia cruise ship has begun its final voyage. Salvage crews refloated the ship last week so they can move it from its resting place off Giglio Island to the Italian port of Genoa to be dismantled. On Wednesday morning, it sets sail. It´s been more than 2½ years since the ship ran aground off Giglio Island with more than 4,200 passengers aboard, killing 32 people in a disaster that drew global attention. The vessel will be towed -- slowly and carefully -- approximately 240 kilometers (150 miles) to Genoa, where it will be broken up. A convoy

WASHINGTON -- In rapid succession, six federal judges on two appeals courts weighed in on a key component of President Barack Obama´s health care law. Their votes lined up precisely with the party of the president who appointed them. It was the latest illustration that presidents help shape their legacies by stocking the federal bench with judges whose views are more likely to align with their own. The legal drama played out Tuesday in Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Virginia, on two appeals courts that Obama has transformed through 10 appointments in 5 1/2 years. In the first ruling, a divided three-judge panel of

Let’s face it: if you want to see the workings of thought disorder, you have to do a Rorschach. I once did a Rorschach on a man who was experiencing a psychotic disorder. In card after card he reported seeing vaginas. He was an intelligent, highly educated man. He had sufficient self-observing ego to be embarrassed, but not to filter sexually oriented responses. He eventually quipped, “Isn’t there some Woody Allen joke about you’re the crazy one for showing me all these dirty pictures?” Of all the elements of consciousness, the problem of sex is the most clamorous.

The left wing ideologues currently in control of America want us to believe that they care about all the “children” at our border. It isn’t the first time they have used children to push an agenda. They have even been using Jesus as a propaganda tool. Playing on our emotions, and appealing to our kind nature has worked. No doubt some of the low information crowd who blindly support the left believe they are being compassionate by welcoming lawbreakers “who just want a better life” with open arms. Many just believe the left is pro illegal immigration because these immigrants

MEXICO CITY – The Mexican government on Tuesday expressed its “concern” over the decision by Texas authorities to send 1,000 National Guard troops to the border to help stem the massive arrival of undocumented child migrants from Central America. “Attention to the immigration phenomenon must be paid from a long-term regional perspective and based on the principles of good neighborliness and shared responsibility,” the Foreign Relations Secretariat said in a statement. “The strategy for responding in an effective and humane manner to this phenomenon includes the necessary shared responsibility among the countries of origin, transit and destination of migration flows,” the statement

Federal agencies ranging from the the Department of Health and Human Services to the Pentagon are working to address a surge of unaccompanied immigrant children at the U.S-Mexico border, a problem that President Obama last month described as an “urgent humanitarian situation.” The Obama administration has estimated that the U.S. will pick up 60,000 unaccompanied children at the Southwest border by the end of September, although revised Border Patrol estimates now put the figure closer to 90,000. Paris - Undeterred by criticism from his European allies, French President François Hollande said today he would proceed with the controversial sale of a warship to Russia, but may reconsider the sale of a second ship. European Union foreign ministers met today in Brussels to discuss greater sanctions on Russia over the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. It’s the first gathering of the 28-member bloc since the downing of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17, allegedly by pro-Russia rebels in Ukraine. Almost 300 people, including more than 200 EU nationals, died. EU leaders have been divided since day one over how to force Russian President

Fruits and vegetables are good for your health, but there´s not enough evidence to prove that on their own they can help with weight loss. The research, published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, reviewed studies that looked at fruit and vegetable consumption and weight gain, and concluded that simply eating more doesn’t doesn’t slim waistlines. Loading up on more fruits and vegetables, without taking out more high-calorie foods like junk food, or making other lifestyle changes such as exercising, won’t have a significant affect on weight. And that’s especially true if the veggies are fried or coated in butter or cheese.

Citing Maryland’s recently enacted firearm laws and the prospect of more restrictions, the U.S. arm of legendary Italian gunmaker Beretta announced Tuesday that it would move its manufacturing operations to Tennessee next year. The move makes Beretta the latest maker of guns or ammunition to move all or part of its operations to another state because of tightened gun control laws. General Manager Jeff Cooper said an early version of a statute passed last year by the Maryland state Senate would have prohibited the company from manufacturing or storing products in the state. “While we were able in the Maryland House of Delegates to

The former CEO of Reebok and Dollar General toppled 11-term Rep. Jack Kingston by a narrow margin, setting up a battle of political newcomers with famous kin in the fall. Perdue’s cousin, Sonny, was a two-term governor and Nunn’s father, Sam, was a four-term U.S. Senator. In addition to his famous last name and lingering political network from his cousin, Perdue deployed $3 million of his own money to back his bid. Millions of Americans are not entitled to government health insurance subsidies under Obamacare because of the way the law is written, a divided three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday. But the force of the legal victory was undercut just hours later when another appeals court in Richmond sided with the Obama administration on the subsidy question, setting up an almost certain extended legal battle that could soon reach the Supreme Court. In a decision that could blow a massive hole in President Obama’s signature domestic achievement, the court held that people living in states that

In scandal after scandal in the Obama administration, President Obama has said he didn’t know about the problems until he heard it on the news. But the president changed his tune about his supposed ignorance at a Democratic fundraiser near Seattle on Tuesday night. Mr. Obama told supporters that he doesn’t watch the news because, “Whatever they’re reporting about, usually I know.” That contrasts with the explanations that the president and his aides have given from scandals in the past few years ranging from long wait times and deaths at the VA, to the IRS targeting tea party groups, to the

THE FIGHTING in Gaza has served to obscure developments in another Middle East war that is far bloodier and more important to U.S. interests. Senior U.S. intelligence officials said Tuesday that Russia was responsible for “creating the conditions” that led to the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, but they offered no evidence of direct Russian government involvement. The officials briefed reporters Tuesday under ground rules that their names not be used in discussing intelligence related to last week’s air disaster, which killed 298
