Torez, Ukraine — Rebels in eastern Ukraine took control Sunday of the bodies recovered from downed Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, and U.S. and European leaders demanded that Russian President Vladimir Putin make sure rebels give international investigators full access to the crash site. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said Ukraine’s separatists were to blame for the downing of the aircraft, (Snip) “The bodies will go nowhere until experts arrive,” Borodai said, speaking in the rebel-held city of Donetsk. He also said the plane’s black boxes have been recovered and will be handed over to the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Urge Russia to honor it’s [sic] commitment,” Twitchy first reported. After receiving swift backlash, the tweet was deleted, and Mr. Stengel sent out a terse explanation. “Earlier tweet with wrong hashtag was a mistake. My bad,” he said. Politically speaking, the low point in how President Obama’s approach to foreign policy is perceived may have been in 2011 when an advisor described his actions in Libya, where a coalition was trying to oust dictator Muammar Qaddafi, as “leading from behind.” Most Americans aren’t used to hearing that. Even though they’re weary of war, either they want a more assertive United States, it seems, or the kind of non-interventionist approach favored by Sen. Rand Paul. “Leading from behind” sounds so … unexceptional. Today, Obama faces two immediate and potentially very dangerous situations abroad: the downing of a

While enlistment rates in the U.S. military vary by group, they also vary by state. Enlistment ranges from less than 3 per thousand in North Dakota to more than 7 per thousand in Florida and Maine. According to the Defense Department, differences exist at the regional level as well. In 2013, 44% of all military recruits came from the South, despite it having only 36% of the country’s 18-24 year-old civilian population. By contrast, the Northeast was the most underrepresented region of the country; only 14% of new enlistments came from this area, compared to 18% of its 18-24 year-old population.
