President Obama is golfing on Sunday at Fort Belvoir, Va., according to a White House pool report. The president flew to the base on Sunday afternoon from Camp David, where he spent Friday evening and Saturday. An official said the president is playing with staffers Mike Brush, Joe Paulsen and Marvin Nicholson. The White House said in a statement that Obama spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday morning to discuss Israel’s ongoing military operation in Gaza. “The President discussed Israel’s ongoing military operation, reiterated the United States’ condemnation of attacks by Hamas against Israel, and reaffirmed Israel’s right to defend itself,”

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is visiting Iowa for the fourth time in eight months, hoping for a second chance to win over Republican voters who delivered him a stinging caucus loss when he ran for president two years ago. Perry, 64, hasn´t said if he plans to run again in 2016. But he´s clearly considering it, and is meeting Saturday and Sunday with veterans and conservative activists in the northern Iowa communities of Algona and Clear Lake. "Our nominee normally has done this more than once. I think this goes back to that issue of experience. Experience matters and by

It wasn´t quite the stroll in the park Rory McIlroy would have liked but in the end the Ulsterman was able to cruise to the 2014 Claret Jug with a final-round 71 to win by two. When he started it looked like this major would look like his other two -- that is, complete and total routs. McIlroy birdied the first to go up seven strokes on Rickie Fowler but then made two bogeys in his next five holes to open the door. And wouldn´t you know it, our old friend Sergio Garcia strolled right on through. Garcia pulled to

The year was 1969. The turbulent time in America saw troops fighting in Vietnam, and a nation dealing with the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, killed in 1963, and Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., both murdered in 1968. Then came that one small step. Forty-five years ago today, 500 million people around the world witnessed American astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins as they embarked on the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. Apollo 11 landed on the moon on July 20, 1969, and six hours later Armstrong was the first man to step

The Legal Argument for Gay Marriage

For better or for worse, the constitutional theory providing equal rights to gay people is entirely authored by Justice Anthony Kennedy. As everybody now knows, Kennedy penned the trilogy of gay rights opinions that lie behind an unbroken streak of judicial wins for gay marriage in the states. At first glance, today’s 10th Circuit opinion affirming the invalidation of Oklahoma’s marriage ban continues this streak seamlessly. But just below the surface of the ruling lies a bear trap that could mangle the legal theories that have brought gay marriage so close to the finish line.

TAMPA — The road from arrest to trial often is paved with highlights and eye shadow — but not too much — and a high-collar schoolmarm dress or business-casual attire. A fresh haircut and a close shave also can go a long way. The latest to employ the subliminal strategy of a courtroom makeover is Richard McTear. McTear is accused of throwing a baby out of a moving car on Interstate 275 five years ago. When he was arrested, dreadlocks cascaded down his head and he looked every bit an angry — and cocky — young man with a record

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio – An Army veteran who was wounded during the Iraq War is worried a citation will result in him losing his 14 pet ducks, which he says are therapeutic. Darin Welker, of West Lafayette, was cited with a minor misdemeanor June 23 for having the ducks in his yard. He is scheduled to appear in Coshocton Municipal Court for a hearing Wednesday and could face a $150 fine. Welker, 36, is afraid he won´t be permitted to keep the ducks, which he says help him with depression and post-traumatic stress disorder and keep him more active. The

I was thinking the world could not be more absurd when I read that a Hamas official announced to Arab Israelis they should not be fearful of their attacks because the missiles were designed to kill Jews only. This development is so outstanding that the Norwegians -- citizens of probably the most anti-Semitic country in Europe -- who decide the winners of the Nobel peace prize undoubtedly secretly voted on the spot to award it to Hamas this year. I was wrong, though, there must be some virus rapidly spreading across the globe that paralyzes brain cells, creating a world gone mad. The diversity proponents who have long exaggerated

The left-leaning tech blog Pando seems to be angry about a lot of aspects of reality.* Witness David Carr flipping out over this billboard that he spotted in San Francisco, “walking home from Pando’s office a few nights ago.” The billboard just educates people about reality. If you raise the cost of labor, then it becomes economical to replace labor with automation, in this case touch screens, which are declining in cost as labor prices itself out of the market through high minimum wages. Seems pretty basic. But Carr goes a little nuts, throwing around words like “screwing,” and impugning a person linked to the billboard.

Secretary of State John Kerry and Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace had a tense exchange Sunday morning, even before the two got to Kerry’s comments on an Israeli strike that were captured by Fox and played back to him. Wallace and Kerry first sparred over toughening sanctions on Russia following the downing of flight MH17, allegedly by Moscow-backed Ukrainian separatists. Wallace played a clip in which Obama seemed to acknowledge the ineffectualness of U.S. sanctions, a clip Kerry strongly suggested was taken out of context. But things got real heated after Wallace characterized the negotiations over Iran’s nuclear deal

Candy Crowley got quite a surprise when she pushed John Kerry on whether the United States was comfortable with the scale of Israel’s military response to Hamas terrorists lobbing missiles indiscriminately into their land. Kerry explained why Israel was right to defend her citizens, and then told Candy that the terrorists in Gaza purposely maximize civilian casualties among their own people in order to elicit exactly the kind of questions she’s asking. I doubt she liked that very much.

Since Tikrit fell to ISIS forces in early June, recapturing the city—Saddam Hussein’s hometown—has been a centerpiece of the Iraqi Army’s campaign. But despite Baghdad’s efforts, pouring soldiers and resources into the battle there, the fighting has dragged on for weeks with only fleeting gains. At stake in Sunni-dominated Tirkit is the Iraqi government’s ability to defeat ISIS and retake the country. So far they have little to show

At a business conference in Paraguay, the telecommunications magnate said it was time for a “radical overhaul” in the way people work, the Financial Times reports: people should only work three days a week. “With three work days a week, we would have more time to relax; for quality of life,” Slim said. “Having four days [off] would be very important to generate new entertainment activities and other ways of being occupied.” Well-said, Mr. Slim. DETROIT — At a high-profile gathering of progressives this week, Hillary Clinton was tolerated, Barack Obama was pitied, and Elizabeth Warren was treated like a hero. The annual liberal confab known as Netroots Nation brought together around 3,000 activists converged for several days of campaign training, a protest or two, and speeches from Warren, Vice President Joe Biden and other Democrat. And while the 2014 election is just months away, many in this crowd were far more focused on the 2016 race for president, a contest they hope will allow for a showdown between the pro-business and populist strains of the Democratic Party.

With that data, a few more search tools, some time and a little more research, we are able to identify the locations of facilities throughout the country where the HHS grants are being directed and the UAC’s are being transferred/housed. There are essentially two broad types: Residence Care, and Transitional to Foster Care Services. From the FY 2014 HHS Grants we can identify the communities where direct HHS UAC funds have been sent.
