DOJ Set to Fight Gay-Marriage
Bans in Supreme Court
ABC News, by Pierre Thomas & Mike Levine *    Original Article

The Justice Department is set to urge the Supreme Court to uphold a lower-court ruling and block states from banning same-sex marriage, Attorney General Eric Holder said. The nation´s top law enforcement official´s remarks come just days after Utah officials announced they will ask the Supreme Court to overrule a lower court that concluded gay couples can legally marry in the state. Last month, a federal appeals court ruled that a state ban on gay marriage, approved by Utah voters in 2004, was unconstitutional, finding that states cannot keep two people from marrying simply because they are of the same sex.

Attorney General Eric Holder said Sunday he and President Obama have been targets of “a racial animus” by some of the administration’s political opponents. “There´s a certain level of vehemence, it seems to me, that´s directed at me [and] directed at the president,” Holder told ABC. “You know, people talking about taking their country back. … There´s a certain racial component to this for some people. I don’t think this is the thing that is a main driver, but for some there´s a racial animus." Holder said the nation is in “a fundamentally better place than we were 50 years ago.” “We´ve

This is the second in a two-piece article on impeachment of Barack Obama. America is navigating extraordinary travails attempting to adapt to Barack’s increasingly erratic and arbitrary decision-making. This is apparently motivated by his own misbegotten notion he’s a secular prophet who must force America to adapt into his socialistic fantasies. His trashing of the Constitution, ignoring Congress and claiming amnesia on the separation of powers has created a crisis which few on either side seem ready to address. The very bad news is America does not seem to have the courage, conviction or stones to stand up to our

On Saturday, President Obama interrupted his busy schedule of playing pool, drinking beer and jumping lines at BBQ joints to play golf an exclusive private country club in Maryland with ESPN host Michael Wilbon. Not like he has anything else to do, right? There’s nothing unusual about the president hitting the golf course – he’s done it at least a record-setting 177 times over his term. But it’s who he is playing golf with that’s interesting. As IJReview’s current Editor-at-Large Larry O’Connor reported for Breitbart in November 2013, Wilbon made the eyebrow-raising comment: “People can be upset with me if

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Fox News Sunday guest host Brit Hume that Hamas was embedding its missile capabilities within homes to dare Israel to increase civilian casualties, a challenge he said Israel was intended to best to stop the barrage of missiles on Israeli cities. “Here’s the difference between us,” Netanyahu said. “We’re using missile defense to protect our civilians, and they’re using their civilians to protect their missiles.” “I just want your viewers to imagine the United States being bombarded not in one city or two cities, but in every city between New York and Colorado,” Netanyahu said.

The United Negro College Fund, whose famous motto is, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste,” recently accepted a $25 million grant from the Koch brothers. In case you don’t listen to the Democrat’s Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the Koch brothers are the “infamous” billionaires who subvert democracy by funding numerous conservative causes and organizations. This has angered the largest government employee’s union in the country – AFSCME. In fact, AFSCME has pulled all of its funding from UNCF and said it will no longer work with them. A video has emerged showing the extraordinary “knock on the roof” technique used by the Israeli military to warn Palestinian civilians of an impending missile strike. The footage was uploaded to YouTube yesterday by the Gaza-based Watania news agency, and shows from extremely close quarters a small missile striking the roof of a house across the street. According to the caption, around 15 minutes later – though most of this time has been edited out of the final clip itself – two fully-armed missiles from an F16 jet strike one after the other, blasting the front of the house away and sending a cloud of debris and rubble into the air.

Sandra Fluke is running as a first-time candidate for a seat in California´s state Senate to represent some of the most affluent communities of Los Angeles County, a district that stretches from the Hollywood Hills to the Palos Verdes peninsula. (Video) Sunday on ABC´s "This Week with George Stephanopoulos," Attorney General Eric Holder blasted former Gov. Sarah Palin´s (R-AK) for her call to impeach President Barack Obama by saying, "She wasn´t a particularly good vice presidential candidate. She´s an even worse judge of who ought to be impeached and why." House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and other senior Republicans have dismissed Palin´s calls and instead have opted to file a lawsuit against Obama´s executive overreach. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) said earlier on the program, "We are not working on or drawing up articles of impeachment.

John Kerry wants to broker a deal to stop the violence between Israel and Hamas. But officials and experts on both sides are warning he could do more harm than good. The Israelis and the Palestinians are resisting Secretary of State John Kerry’s repeated offers to travel to the Middle East and try to help negotiate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Experts on both sides believe he doesn’t have the credibility or ability to do any good if he shows up there. The White House and State Department have been saying publicly all week that the U.S. is ready and willing to step in and play the role of honest broker to try to stem

The influx of children across our southern border is troubling. First, because they are not all children — not by a sight — but images of children are useful for stirring emotions to muddy the policy waters. Second, because it is not all that unusual: As the Wall Street Journal reports, between 23,000 and 47,000 minors illegally entered the United States and were apprehended in each of the past five years; in 2013, we ordered only 3,525 deportations, suggesting that something on the order of nine in ten, or more, of minor illegal aliens — again, of the number apprehended — are allowed to stay. The number not apprehended is very large,

It’s somewhat ironic that CNN is, today, touting the premier of their new show The Hunt (with John Walsh) tonight at the same time as they are still featuring the documentary Documented by Jose Antonio Vargas. The irony – since they seem oblivious to it – is that the former is a show dedicated to catching criminals who are on the loose, while the latter is produced by one of the people we should ostensibly be looking for. Vargas is in the country illegally, and yet somehow appears on multiple television programs, produces films and seems to earn a fine

Sarah Palin and John Boehner should kiss and make up. They owe it to the country, no matter how uncomfortable the idea makes them or us feel! Palin is the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate who has become a Tea Party maverick, and Boehner is the Republican speaker of the House who is a GOP establishment dinosaur. Last week the battle lines were clearly drawn between these two camps of the Republican Party. Palin called for the impeachment of President Obama, in particular because of his abdication of responsibility for defending our southern border. Boehner, on the other

Sarah Palin wants to impeach Barack Obama. In an op-ed article published last week, the former Republican vice presidential nominee declared that the crisis on the southern border (where young illegal immigrants are being detained) "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´No, mas´." The Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner, thinks that´s loco. (Technically, he said, "I disagree".) For Republicans hoping to avoid the kind of drama that might derail what looks to be a very good midterm election year, this kind of call is both a nuisance and a trend. We are told by Liberals that we should not be concerned about the current immigrant invasion of the U.S. because, after all, we are a “nation of immigrants.” Not in the way that Libs mean it. Past immigrants to America have left failed cultures that immigrants knew were failures. That is why they left them to come to America. They came here to join the American culture of achievement and private property which lets them benefit from their achievements. They left cultures of tyranny to join America’s culture of liberty. Immigrants on the southern border currently are not in this tradition. Far
