Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” proposed Sunday that the U.S. cut off aid to countries whose unaccompanied illegal minors enter the U.S. if those countries “don’t keep them and take care of them.” “About a third of the little girls are raped in the process of getting here. It´s a humanitarian problem, but it´s apart from immigration reform. This is a specific problem created by an impression that if you get to America, you can stay. We have got to turn that impression around, send these children back to their homeland and tell countries

He could become the Willie Horton of the immigration crisis. Milton Mateo Garcia, 28, was caught one year ago entering the U.S. illegally across the Mexican border and was deported back to his native Honduras. But Mr. Garcia soon re-entered the U.S. illegally — federal authorities either don’t know how, or they won’t say. He settled with relatives in Philadelphia, where Mayor Michael Nutter had signed an executive order in April declaring it a “sanctuary city” for illegal immigrants. The "Tequila Party," a Latino group formed in opposition to the Tea Party, wrote to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and FBI Director James Comey on Monday to request that the Tea Party and several officials be investigated for their role in protesting and blocking the transfer of illegal aliens captured in Texas to Murrieta, California. The protests on July 1 turned back three busloads of aliens, though more are scheduled to arrive. In their letter--signed by California attorney Ruben Salazar, pro-amnesty activist Dee Dee Garcia Blase, and Nebraska attorney Shirl Mora James--the group, writing on the letterhead of a

Gullible Liberals Misread Birth-Control Ruling

Liberals should spend less time lauding the dissents in last week´s Hobby Lobby decision by the U.S. Supreme Court and more time reading them. If they did, they´d notice that some of their main arguments find little support -- even from liberal justices. President Barack Obama´s administration has sought to require almost all employers that offer health insurance to cover contraceptives. The court´s majority ruled that Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. and similar companies could refuse to cover contraceptives to which they have religious objections. Many liberals say that this ruling was flawed because the Religious Freedom Restoration Act -- the

President Obama evidently has decided not to put a human face on the crisis unfolding at the U.S. southern border—not even his own. The White House said over and over again Monday that Obama will not travel to the border with Mexico despite flying to Texas this week to raise money for Democratic candidates there. It´s certainly in part a political decision, one meant to avoid taking ownership of a difficult issue on which the White House would prefer to share blame. (Snip) In other words, if Obama goes goes to the border, he owns the problem. If he doesn't, he's blasted for a lack of leadership.

On May 29, President Barack Obama had lunch at the White House with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The likely 2016 presidential contender has been to hundreds of West Wing meetings, first as first lady, then as senator, and finally as the top American diplomat. But this face-to-face was unusual. Unlike dozens of presidential meetings every week — and a similar Obama-Clinton meeting in July 2013 — it was not announced in advance. Instead, reporters who cover Obama learned about the secret visit from a People magazine tweet, and ultimately managed to wring a terse sentence from an anonymous

Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.), denied access to a federal immigration facility in his home state of Oklahoma on July 1, now says he will visit the 1,100 Central American children being held at Ft. Sill on July 12. He also told the Department of Health and Human Services, which runs the center for unaccompanied alien children -- mostly teenagers -- that he plans to make other, unannounced visits to Ft. Sill, because "the tragedy that is occurring requires unfettered access." "I will bring my staff, interpreters and legal counsel," Bridenstine wrote in a July 5 letter to HHS´s congressional liaison.

This image — which features an American woman named Holly Fisher and an international terrorist named Sherafiyah Lewthwaite* — has been doing the rounds on Lefty Twitter: “Explain the difference”? With pleasure. The woman on the left is a peaceful American citizen with a husband in the military. She has never killed anybody, and nor does she have any desire to. The reason that you know her name is that she has become a minor political celebrity for her outspoken support of a Supreme Court decision that upheld the rule of law against the intrusion of the executive branch. A federal judge approved a preliminary settlement between the N.F.L. and lawyers for the more than 4,500 retired players who sued the league, accusing it of hiding the dangers of concussions and repeated head hits. The judge’s consent, which was widely anticipated, means that all of the roughly 18,000 retired players and their beneficiaries can now vote on the deal, which includes a promise from the N.F.L. to pay an unlimited amount of awards to players with certain severe neurological conditions. Legal experts anticipate that it will be approved because the new settlement addressed the main concern United States District

WASHINGTON -- The White House said Monday that most unaccompanied children arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border are unlikely to qualify for humanitarian relief that would prevent them from being sent back from their home countries. The pointed warning came as the White House finalized a spending request to Congress detailing the additional resources President Barack Obama wants in order to hire more immigration judges and open additional detention facilities to deal with the border crisis. White House officials said they planned to send the more than $2 billion request to lawmakers on Tuesday. White House spokesman Josh Earnest

At Arizona State University, female students can earn extra credit by agreeing to not shave their armpits and legs for ten weeks. CIA Director John Brennan has asked to brief key members of the U.S. Congress on the matter, which threatens a new rupture between Washington and a close European ally, one of the officials said. I am one of the people who always disliked Hillary Clinton. It has seemed a conundrum these past two decades as so many other people appear to have felt the same. I´ve given it a good deal of thought and have come to the conclusion that it comes down to one specific item: Bill. Why I dislike Bill is still crystal clear. From my review of Carol Felsanthal´s masterful Clinton in Exile: " ... an odyssey of gold watches and billionaire friends; bimbos, bling and a private airplane bigger than a doublewide; and cash-raising speeches, end on end — three

Uber’s war against entrenched taxi companies saw its most recent move Monday when the company announced that it would slash prices 20 percent in New York City. An UberX, the cheapest ride offered by the company, is now several dollars cheaper than a traditional taxi in New York City, where yellow cabs are still a staple, Uber says. Uber slashed its prices in Boston last month, knocking rates down a full 25 percent. The change would make an UberX trip from Copley Square to Harvard Square only $10. A taxi, the company says, would cost $17. San Francisco, where Uber was incubated, boasts an even more drastic disparity between

Then the heavy equipment rolled in: A helicopter and SUVs packed with lockers of rifles. SWAT teams in green coveralls patrolled the streets with uniformed officers. It

President Barack Obama will head to Texas later this week for Democratic fundraising events in Austin and Dallas, but he will not visit the southern border where unaccompanied minors are streaming across that frontier in record numbers. “Schedules sometimes change and if they do we’ll let you know, but right now there is no plan to visit the border while he’s in Texas,” said White House Press Sec. Josh Earnest last week, bristling over the impertinence of the suggestion that Obama should take time out of his fundraising schedule to see the scale of this emerging refugee crisis for himself.
