Obamacare’s Criminal Enterprise

Question: If Obamacare officials cannot prevent accused embezzlers from infiltrating their offices, how can they protect enrollees from grifters, con artists, and thieves in the federal health-insurance-exchange system? Here in my home state, a director of Connect for Health Colorado — the state-sponsored Obamacare health-insurance exchange — was just put on administrative leave. No, Christa Ann McClure did not go on leave over the chronic problems plaguing the cursed Connect for Health website. She’s on leave because she has been indicted for filching funds from her last employer in Montana.

Most publications would be wary of letting the public know that politicians are in their corner, much less falling all over themselves to welcome them to the fight down in Texas. Translation: We have a shared purpose. GO TEAM! What a disturbing concept of journalism. News publications are not supposed to have the same purpose as politicians, nor are they supposed to be on the same team. Last I checked, they were supposed to inform, and the reporters were not to get too deeply enamored with their sources. But not Breitbart News. Bring on the BIG love no matter who it is

Nebraska law that allowed

LINCOLN, Neb. — A judge has struck down a Nebraska law that allowed the Keystone XL oil pipeline to proceed through the state. Lancaster County Judge Stephanie Stacy issued a ruling Wednesday that invalidated Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman’s approval of the route. Stacy says the decision should have been made by the Nebraska Public Service Commission, which regulates pipelines and other utilities. The ruling could cause more delays in finishing the pipeline, which would carry oil from Canada to Texas refineries. But it’s a win for Nebraska-based pipeline opponents. They’ve argued that Heineman exceeded his authority when he approved the route in

Attorney General Eric Holder flubbed a question from Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) that is of vital importance to the rule of law. While the Constitution allows – and sometimes requires – executive action on many matters, President Barack Obama has asserted executive authority in unprecedented ways. When Lee asked why one of Obama’s orders does not violate the Constitution, Holder – the chief legal officer of the nation – had no answer. During a Senate oversight hearing, Lee asked Holder by what legal authority Obama suspended Obamacare’s employer mandate, which covers all companies with 50 or more employees. Holder admitted that he

The Internal Revenue Service responded to the scandal over its targeting of conservative groups in 2011-12 by putting forth new rules that would suppress even more political speech. (Snip) Johnson writes that "sources and analysts" think the proposed rules "appear unlikely to be implemented in current form." One possible reason is that although censorship of political speech has long been a left-liberal cause, the IRS´s proposals are drawing considerable opposition from the left. Johnson notes three examples: The American Civil Liberties Union, itself a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, submitted a 29-page comment to the IRS "slamming the proposed regulations,"

This summer will mark the 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War I, and we should reflect on the “lessons” we have been taught so often on how to avoid another such devastating conflict. Chief among them seems to be the canard that the Versailles Treaty of 1919 that officially ended the war caused a far worse one just 20 years later — usually in the sense of an unnecessary harshness accorded a defeated Imperial Germany. But how true is that common argument of what John Maynard Keynes called a “Carthaginian peace”? Carthage, remember, was truly emasculated after the

Picking up a gallon of milk at the grocery store is getting pricier and the cost could hit a record high for U.S. consumers in March, analysts warned. Strong global demand and stagnant production in other countries has led to increased exports of U.S. dairy products in recent months, generating more money for dairy farmers but resulting in likely price hikes of 10-20 percent at the retail level in some markets, according to analysts. "Demand has been greater than supply for the last several months," said U.S. dairy analyst Jerry Dryer. "Prices are peaking."

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has a message for Donald Trump about BuzzFeed blogger McKay Coppins, and it´s one that other Republican officials might heed when liberal journalists come looking to "humanize" them. "This nervous geek isn´t fit to tie the Donald´s wingtips," Palin told Breitbart News after Trump ripped Coppins for lampooning him with what he alleged were out-of-context quotes and boorish behavior at Trump´s Florida resort. "Don´t ever give him attention again." Coppins tricked Trump´s advisers into thinking he would profile Trump as a potential "major" GOP 2016 presidential hopeful. As Breitbart News reported, the Jan. 5 email

By far the weirdest feud in American media and politics right now is the alliance of Donald Trump, Breitbart.com, and, now, Sarah Palin against BuzzFeed and the reporter behind a piece suggesting that maybe Donald Trump´s political aspirations were insincere. The whole thing is funny mostly because it necessitates the question: Why on Earth is anyone defending Donald Trump? This whole kerfuffle began a week ago, sparked by BuzzFeed reporter McKay Coppins´ hysterically comprehensive review of Trump´s weirdo pseudo-campaign. Appearances in New Hampshire, flights to Florida, a fervent insistence that Trump was considered important and legitimate as a candidate. It´s

LOWELL, Mass. — Police in Lowell say a man who demanded money for shoveling the driveway of an elderly couple who hadn’t asked him to do so was chased away when the 79-year-old woman answered her door holding a gun. Police say the man knocked on the door of the woman and her 81-year-old husband at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and forcefully asked for payment for shoveling. They told him to leave, so he banged on the door harder. Police tell The Sun that the woman came to the door again, this time holding a gun at her side.

The next presidential election will be more grounded in data, analytics and mirco-targeting of voters than ever before, President Obama’s former campaign manager said on Wednesday. Jim Messina said that the president’s 2012 reelection campaign only scratched the surface of what will soon be possible to get campaigns’ messages out to voters. “I think the evolution of campaigns on both sides will be an even further personalized campaign using data and marrying technology in a much deeper way than we did,” he said at the Beyond the Dot conference, an event on new domain names. “I think more and more

The abject naiveté with which President Barack Obama’s administration approached America’s relationship with Russia after coming to power was timidly underscored by its campaign-like slogan: “Reset.” In theory, this “reset” was to be an abandonment of the confrontational, “cowboy” diplomacy of the Bush years, but in practice it amounted to excess deference to Moscow and the creation of space designed to allow the Kremlin to pursue what it regards as its national interests. The abandonment of American interests in an effort to provide Moscow with reparations for the perceived offenses of the previous eight years has evolved from puerile and

There’s both good news and bad news for Hillary Clinton coming out of the new Siena College and C-SPAN study on first ladies. The good news: Clinton tops the list when it comes to which first lady scholars see taking the Oval Office gig as well. Experts also suggested, but much less so than Clinton, that Eleanor Roosevelt and Michelle Obama would be good presidents, too. Speaking of Obama, with her inclusion on the list, Clinton got knocked down two spots. Clinton is now sixth on the first ladies ranking, whereas Obama entered the study in fifth place.

A skater´s music selection defines the mood: The right tune sparks unison clapping from the crowd and gives an artistic flair to the technical elements. But can certain types of music enable a higher score? Ahead of the ladies´ short program on Wednesday, the Commissariat of Calculation sorted all 159 programs that have been performed so far in Sochi into six musical categories. Washington- Sens. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Ted Cruz of Texas are both favorites of the tea party wing of the Republican Party. If both run for president in 2016, as seems likely at the moment, they’d vie for the same conservative voters as a base upon which to build a winning GOP primary coalition. Given that potential White House candidates are jockeying right now for support from key donors and party figures, it’s not too early to ask this question: Which of these two men is currently winning the most tea party support? Despite their similar electoral roots, they
