KIEV, Ukraine -- As thick black smoke rose from the barricades encircling the protest camp in central Kiev on Wednesday, the Ukrainian president blamed opposition leaders for the deadly violence that erupted between riot police and protesters in the capital in which at least 25 people died and 241 were injured. The violence on Tuesday was the worst in nearly three months of anti-government protests that have paralyzed Ukraine´s capital in a struggle over the identity of a nation divided in loyalties between Russia and the West, and the worst in the country´s post-Soviet history.

Obama Signs an Executive Order

Does Obama really think that raising federal employees´ meager salaries from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour will change their lives? He is doing nothing for them and masquerading like the queen of generosity. Most federal employees earn far above the minimum wage. They are given excessive benefits. But what good will another $2.85 per hour do for those at minimum wage? Will it buy them Lamborghinis or pay for private planes to Paris? Whom is Obama kidding? There is no equality. Everyone can´t have the same. We can´t all live in the White House and fly around in Air Force One.

Rep. Gloria Negrete McLeod´s announcement Tuesday that she won´t seek reelection to her Inland Empire seat is likely to set up yet another internecine fight in a state that already has many. The Chino Democrat will leave Washington after just one term and run instead for a seat on the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, opening the door to others of her party, who might not have challenged her. Those could include the congressman she defeated in 2012, Joe Baca. Because of that, her choice also has the potential to shake up the field in the race for a

Foreign Policy: John Kerry calls global warming "the world´s most fearsome weapon of mass destruction." Has the secretary of state forgotten the world´s real WMDs? Or is he just off his medication? There´s a long list of Cabinet secretaries and senior aides to President Obama who have failed the nation so resoundingly they should be shown the door. But Secretary John Kerry, who dumped his military decorations in 1971 and was dumped by voters as a presidential candidate in 2004, should definitely be the first one out. In a pathetic attempt to distract from the Obama administration's foreign policy failures,

After President Obama knocked art history majors last month in off-the-cuff remarks, Dr. Ann Johns, an art history professor at the University of Texas, decided to send the president a message defending the work of art history professors and students. “It’s a changed discipline and I think in many ways it does prepare students very well for a complex global world,” Johns, a senior lecturer in the Department of Art and Art History, told ABC News today about the note she submitted to the president on the White House website. “Perhaps the idea of just going and looking at nice

In the weeks since the so-called “Hillary Papers” hit media outlets, many on the left have been complaining that discussion of Bill Clinton’s affairs is sexist. Those recently published papers included documents and personal diaries from Hillary Clinton’s late-friend Diane Blair. Tonight on The Kelly File, Megyn Kelly spoke to a former President Clinton aide who claims he sexually harassed her. Her name came up in the Hillary Papers, when a then-little known journalist, Matt Drudge, wrote a report about Kathleen Willey. Willey believes President Clinton’s misconduct is relevant to Hillary’s potential presidential run. “Hillary Clinton is the war on women, and I

I have nothing to add to this controversy now, but I did stumble across this eight-minute video of my first mentor M. Stanton Evans introducing Diana at a recent dinner for Diana in New York. Take in the first few minutes and you’ll get a good helping of Stan’s droll humor, culminating in his “Law of Inadequate Paranoia.” You’l understand why so many are devoted to him.

The Providence College Black Studies Program e-mailed students, faculty, and administrators Tuesday to renew an award called the Trayvon Martin Award for Social Justice. The award honors those who have shown leadership and commitment to ”challenging and eliminating racism” and “empowering others to seek social justice,” said the e-mail obtained by The Daily Caller. The award was created in 2012 to honor the 17-year-old African American who was shot by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, in Florida. Though Zimmerman was widely accused of racial profiling, the jury ultimately found him not guilty of murder.

The Clarion Project has unearthed Federal Bureau of Investigations documents detailing a 22-site network of terrorist training villages sprawled across the United States. MOA stands for Muslims of the Americas, which is linked to radical Pakistani Muslim cleric Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani. U.S. homebuilders’ confidence in the housing market has declined sharply as the severe weather battering much of the nation keeps many would-be buyers at home. Storms and cold weather dampened builders’ outlook for sales ahead of the spring home-selling season and could further slow the pace of home construction. The National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo builder sentiment index slid to 46. That’s down from January’s reading of 56 and is the lowest level since May. Readings below 50 indicate that more builders view sales conditions as poor rather than good. Builders’ view of current sales conditions for

‘We need the iPhone of

Washington Post, by Michael S. Rosenwald    Original Article

One of California’s largest firearm stores recently added a peculiar new gun to its shelves. It requires an accessory: a black waterproof watch. The watch’s primary purpose is not to provide accurate time, though it does. The watch makes the gun think. Electronic chips inside the gun and the watch communicate with each other. If the watch is within close reach of the gun, a light on the grip turns green. Fire away. No watch means no green light. The gun becomes a paperweight. A dream of gun-control advocates for decades, the Armatix iP1 is the country’s first smart gun.

The national license-plate recognition database service, which would draw data from readers that scan the tag of every vehicle crossing their paths, would help catch fugitive illegal immigrants, according to a DHS solicitation. But the database could easily contain more than 1 billion records and may be shared with

Deadly clashes between protesters and police in Kiev on Tuesday led to a fire-lit nighttime assault by Interior Ministry troops on the main protest encampment at Independence Square, in what may be a dramatic and irreversible turn in Ukraine’s months-long political crisis. After weeks of relative calm, trucks and tents burned, molotov cocktails smashed against police shields and banners illuminated by the flames whipped in the strong breeze. At least 20 people were reported killed in the latest flare-up of protests that began last fall after President Viktor Yanukovych rejected a trade deal with Europe and turned to Russia for

What else can they say, really? The Democrats have built their entire midterm strategy on an economic populism focused around the minimum wage as a way to both cudgel Republicans and distract from ObamaCare’s woes — it’s much too late to turn back now, not even for a super official, nonpartisan report confirming many of the plan’s negative effects on the job market and those in poverty to which Republicans have been pointing. This one’s getting the White House’s full sugarcoat/whitewash treatment, via the WFB: A top White House economist says that President Obama’s minimum wage increase will have “zero

That is exactly what happened—Fannie and Freddie began earning billions in mid-2012 and have repaid $185 billion to the Treasury. However, a 2010 Treasury memo addressed to then-Secretary Timothy

(Kyiv, Ukraine) Open warfare broke out on the streets of Kyiv today, with at least 22 persons reportedly killed and more than 1,000 people injured. It was a day of non-stop bloodletting, smoke, fire and screeching ambulances. The death toll was likely to rise as police went on the offensive after sundown, advancing on thousands of protesters on Independence Square at 8 p.m. with gunshots, a water cannon and an armored personnel carrier. Tents housing protesters were burning on the main square, a fire fueled by protesters with tires as a defense against police attacks.

Before he took office, he said, "[c]arbon pollution was going unchecked, which was having severe impacts on our weather." He then announced he would pursue new fuel economy standards for trucks.
