The severe winter weather continues to wreak havoc across parts of the country, with yet another quick-moving system threatening to lay down a swath of several inches of snow from the Upper Midwest to the Northeast on Monday through Tuesday. Winter weather alerts have been issued across a large chunk of the Midwest in advance of winter storm Rex - the 18th named storm of the 2013-14 season - which is expected to dump more than a half-foot of snow in some areas. The Chicago area is predicted to endure up to six inches of snow on Monday, while thunder

Historians, political scientists and other academics who rated first ladies for their integrity put Hillary Clinton in the bottom half of the rankings – in 21st place – despite her sixth-place overall ranking in the survey. That poor showing in the honesty-related category put her below nearly every first lady since the 1920s, including Pat Nixon. Nancy Reagan was the only modern first lady judged less trustworthy than Mrs. Clinton. ´Trustworthiness was never the Clintons´ long suit,´ University of Virginia Center for Politics Director Larry Sabato told MailOnline. The Siena Polling Institute has conducted the survey five times since 1982, with Clinton debuting

A woman who claims Bill Clinton groped her in the White House is lashing out at his wife Hillary for conducting a ´war´ on the women who have accused the former president of sexually assaulting them. ´She enabled his behavior,´ Kathleen Willey said Sunday night during a radio interview on WABC in New York, and then ´attacked all the women who just made the mistake of walking in front of him, crossing his path.´ [Snip] ´The point is what this woman is capable of doing to other women while she´s running a campaign, basically, on women´s issues,´ she said. ´It just

Older Americans are early

Chicago - For many older Americans who lost jobs during the recession, the quest for health care has been one obstacle after another. They're unwanted by employers, rejected by insurers, struggling to cover rising medical costs and praying to reach Medicare age before a health crisis. These luckless people, most in their 50s and 60s, have emerged this month as early winners under the nation's new health insurance system. Along with their peers who are self-employed or whose jobs do not offer insurance, they have been signing up for coverage in large numbers, submitting new-patient forms at doctor's offices and filling prescriptions

CAMBRIDGE – Cambridge police say the man wanted for sucker punching at least three people over the weekend is not part of a disturbing national trend known as the ‘knockout game.’ The series of unprovoked attacks happened in broad daylight Saturday afternoon between Massachusetts Avenue and Trowbridge Street. In this first incident, according to a Cambridge police report, a man told officers he was walking towards Central Square when the suspect walked “directly towards him.” “He stepped to his left and the suspect mirrored that move. He stepped to his right and the suspect moved into his path once again.

The Blair Papers which the media initially covered up and then diverted attention from, were quite revealing when it came to Hillary’s attitude toward not only her husband’s sexual misconduct, but even those of Republicans like Bob Packwood. (snip)Hillary Clinton is pathetic, makes constant excuses for Bill Clinton, blames herself and blames the women that her husband goes after. As a feminist role model, she’s right up there with her aide, Huma Abedin. In a Dec. 3, 1993, diary entry, Blair recounted a conversation with the first lady about “Packwood”—a reference to then-Sen. Bob Packwood, an influential Republican on health care

MIDDLESBORO — Snake-handling preacher Jamie Coots, who never backed away from his beliefs despite derision, criminal charges and excruciating bites, died Saturday night after being bitten by a rattlesnake during a church service. Family members of Coots, 42, refused medical treatment for him. He was pronounced dead about two hours after the rattler sank its fangs into his right hand. His son said the poison overwhelmed his father within minutes of the bite. "It was the quickest snakebite I ever seen in my life," Coots´ son, Cody, said Sunday. Jamie Coots´ death appears to be the first from a snakebite

America’s Founding Fathers fiercely held to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—values which Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) claimed align seamlessly with Obamacare. Pelosi explained why the law is “very sound policy” during a press conference Friday: To go to back to our founders once again, they sacrificed it all for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This law, the affordable care act, is about a healthier life, the liberty to pursue your happiness. That is solid policy, and the mandate is central to that. This argument should be added to the montage of lies being promulgated by the Obama

If you’re a conservative, you don´t need to silence the opposition. In fact, we conservatives want liberals to talk, to make buffoons of themselves, to prove their folly. We want liberals to expound upon their ridiculous ideas, to show the world exactly what they´re about. Nancy Pelosi? Give that tiresome woman a microphone. Chatty liberals are the best advertisement for conservatism. But liberals just can’t have conservatives speaking. We’ll tell the truth, and that’s why liberals need to shut us up. Their traditional intimidation tactics are wearing out. Calling someone a “racist” used to be a devastating moral indictment. Liberals’ promiscuous employment of

The New York Daily News reports the distressing finding that of fears that the nation is facing an imminent shortage of clowns: Membership at the World Clown Association, the country’s largest trade group for clowns, has dropped from about 3,500 to 2,500 since 2004. Let’s see: that time period would correspond with the Democrats electing more of their clowns to Congress, electing the Obama Administration. Not to worry: the solution to the World Clown Association’s woes is obvious, and one place they might start to find a first-rate clown is the State Department. Despite Obama administration claims that this year’s harsh winter is due to global warming, winters have have been getting colder in the past two decades, according to government climate data. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s recently released climate data shows that U.S. winters have cooled over the past 20 years at a rate of minus 2.5 degrees Fahrenheit per century. Data from Rutgers University shows that the Northern Hemisphere has been seeing more snowfall in recent decades — at a rate of over 100,000 square kilometers per year. Last week the U.S. saw its second-highest snow extent on record

Last month, a group of Republican senators unveiled a health care plan that grappled with how to create an alternative to President Obama´s health care law as part of a strategy to repeal it. A conservative group known as the 2017 Project, headed by Jeffrey Anderson, has released another proposal rooted in the following premise: "The common formulation is that we need to ´repeal and replace´ Obamacare. The truth is more nearly the reverse: We need to advance a winning alternative to pave the way to full repeal." Like the proposal offered by Sens. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., Richard Burr, R-N.C.,

Newark — A campaign bus emblazoned with an image of Newark mayoral hopeful Ras Baraka was vandalized this morning, according to a campaign spokesman. The bus, which was parked next to Baraka´s Central Ward campaign headquarters, had been torn apart inside, according to Baraka´s communication director Frank Baraff. Sugar was found in the gas tank and a small fire was set inside of the bus as well, Baraff said. Last week, the mayoral race became a two-man fight after North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos Jr. and Central Ward Councilman Darrin Sharif bowed out of the contest.

House Democrats are vowing to try a rarely used tactic to force votes in the GOP-led chamber on the minimum wage and immigration reform, a strategy that will likely fail but might hurt Republicans with voters in this year’s elections. The tactic is known as a “discharge petition." It would require the minority party, in this case Democrats, to persuade roughly two dozen Republicans to defy their leadership and join Democrats in forcing a vote on setting the federal minimum wage at $10.10 an hour. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said fellow chamber Democrats will push the issue when

Las Vegas is vying to host the 2016 Republican National Convention and could be the frontrunner if the party´s social conservatives can look beyond the gambling mecca´s “Sin City” reputation. A large number of hotel rooms and meeting facilities located near convention hall, restaurants run by America’s top chefs and no hurricanes are a few of the reasons why the city appeals to GOP convention organizers. But gambling, risqué entertainment, and adults-only hotel pool parties are also a staple of Vegas hospitality. Conservatives and liberty lovers pretty much take it for granted that liberal judges don’t know anything about the Constitution. That much seems obvious from the consistently ridiculous decisions made by left-wingers on the bench at all levels. Yet, it is somewhat jarring to come across a liberal judge who is so un-knowledgeable, so uneducated, so thoroughly ignorant of the foundations upon which this country was built that she literally does not know what the Constitution actually says, “A federal judge confused the Declaration of Independence with the Constitution Thursday night in a court ruling which overturned Virginia’s ban on same-sex marriages. “In

In terms of writing legislation, the president´s role is quite clearly laid out as he sort of indicates but then ignores with his pen, with his veto pen. That is his role. Then he has a phone. He can call Congressmen, he can call Senators and say, this is what I´d like in the law. But other than that, he has no role in writing legislation. He is vetoing legislation by refusing to enforce it. The constitution demands that the president of the United States take care that the laws be faithfully executed. He
