Speaking with reporters from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel last month, Democratic Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.) said she was “so relieved when [Obama] won,” and would give Obama an ‘A’ in his second term if he would “just occupy the spot.” When asked by a reporter to give a progress report on Obama’s second term and to grade him, Moore declined to at first saying, “I´m not going to give Obama a grade. I’m glad he’s there. A Grade compared to what? Compared to Mitt Romney being there?” She then compared Obama’s second term to what would have happened if Romney had won. “No,

Jimmy Fallon will get a visit from an old pal during his first week overseeing The Tonight Show. First Lady Michelle Obama, who famously cut a rug with Fallon in drag for a comedy sketch, will be among the show´s guests during the first week of Fallon´s time as host. The two clicked last year for the viral video The Evolution of Mom Dancing. More importantly, Fallon has done some heavy lifting on behalf of her husband. Fallon´s old Late Night perch invited the president on to "slow jam" the news, essentially letting Barack Obama push his agenda via the comedy format during

´ObamaCare" is useful shorthand for the Affordable Care Act not least because the law increasingly means whatever President Obama says it does on any given day. His latest lawless rewrite arrived on Monday as the White House decided to delay the law´s employer mandate for another year and in some cases maybe forever. ObamaCare requires businesses with 50 or more workers to offer health insurance to their workers or pay a penalty, but last summer the Treasury offered a year-long delay until 2015 despite having no statutory authorization. Like the individual mandate, the employer decree is central to ObamaCare´s claim of

The Seattle Children’s Hospital is suing Washington state’s insurance commissioner over a “failure to ensure adequate network coverage” in the insurance exchanges established as part of the Affordable Care Act. “We’re seeing denials in care, disruptions in care. We’re seeing a great deal of confusion and, at times, anger and frustration on the part of these families who bought insurance thinking that their children would be covered,” a doctor with the hospital said. “And, in fact, it’s a false promise.” A recent CBS News report detailed the experience of one mother whose child recently came down with an ear infection.

WASHINGTON -- A captain’s “reckless decision to sail into the well-forecasted path of Hurricane Sandy” was the probable cause of the HMS Bounty sinking off the North Carolina coast in 2012, the National Transportation Safety Board said in a report released Monday. The captain, 63-year-old Robin Walbridge, and one crew member, 42-year-old Claudene Christian, died in the accident. The remaining 14 crew members, three of whom were seriosuly injured, were rescued by the Coast Guard. On October 25, a day after the closely watched developing storm reached hurricane strength, the 108-foot-long tall wooden ship set sail from New London, Conn.,

Outspoken, liberal talk show host Rosie O’Donnell returned to the set of The View last week and gave updates on her children. She announced that her oldest son, Parker, had joined the Citadel and was “the number one Cadet” at his school. “…How do you annoy your left-wing liberal pacifist mother? You become a big military man,” said O’Donnell. She said she was “very proud” of him but seemed surprised at the answer she received when she asked him why he chose this career path. “Only in America, mom, could somebody like you who came from a horrible childhood, grow up and adopt

While penning praise of Obama´s White House Chief of Staff, liberal columnist Albert R. Hunt of Bloomberg also took a moment to call the IRS harassment of conservatives a "faux scandal." Hunt´s op-ed is filled with wide-eyed praise of Obama´s Chief of Staff, Denis McDonough, calling him "skilled" and "efficient." McDonough is a "high-energy" guy praised by both Republicans and Democrats, Hunt is pleased to say. Along with the effusive praise, Hunt also added a sentence taking a shot at those who feel that Obama and his IRS have abused their power to harass conservative groups in hopes that they would give

Big Government: A 20-year-old memo says Hillary Clinton backed a single-payer socialist health system, believing ObamaCare-like mega-regulation to be "a crock." As president, she´d double down on government control. It´s buried over 60 paragraphs into Alana Goodman´s investigative article in the Washington Free Beacon this week about unpublished documents exposing Clinton´s ruthlessness. Among the papers of Hillary adviser and close friend Diane Blair at the University of Arkansas is an account of a Feb. 23, 1993 White House dinner Blair attended. The first lady had just launched her secretive health care task force pushing a "managed competition" approach to reform. Hillary commented "at

Democrats are picking up where they left off in 2013, lying to the public about Obamacare. The president says his signature program has signed up more than nine million Americans so far through the state exchanges and Medicaid expansion. He´s made this claim on numerous occasions, including last month´s State of the Union address, and during his Super Bowl Sunday conversation with Bill O´Reilly. We´ve noted that the president´s math doesn´t add up; his exchange enrollment figures don´t factor in a substantial subset of non-payments, which experts estimate to be in the vicinity of 600,000. In 2012, President Obama established a program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Obama’s executive action provided 560,000 illegal immigrants, who came into the U.S. as children, permission to work here if they pursue education as a career. These immigrants call themselves “Dreamers” after the failed federal DREAM Act, which would have granted them green cards. Is Barack Obama trying to shift alliances in the Middle East away from traditional allies and toward Iran? Robert Kaplan, author and geopolitical analyst for the Stratford consulting firm, thinks so. In a realclearworld.com article, Kaplan argues that the Obama administration sees the recently elected Iranian President Hassan Rouhani "as a potential Deng Xiaoping, someone from within the ideological solidarity system who can, measure-by-stealthy-measure, lead his country away from ideology and toward internal reform." Such a development, he goes on, is "something that could, in turn, result in an understanding with the West." That of course is not what the president and Secretary

Deja Vu: As the U.S. defense posture continues to slump, several onetime allies are getting nervous about growing threats and starting to rearm. Not to be alarmist, but isn´t that what happened just before World War II? It´s no exaggeration to say that President Obama, by slashing defense spending, is encouraging other nations to step up their arms programs to fill the growing void left by a shrinking U.S. military. The numbers are stark. According to a recent report by the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, U.S. defense outlays hit a post-World War II high in 2010. Since then, after inflation,

On Monday, administration officials said that companies with between 50 and 99 workers won´t have to comply with the mandate until 2016. Those with more than 100 workers will still have to provide "affordable" health benefits to their workers or pay a steep fine. But larger firms will have to cover only 70% of their full-time workers next year to avoid any penalty, and 95% the year after. The Treasury Department claimed

President Barack Obama’s Treasury Department issued a new regulation today that for the second time directly violates the plain and unambiguous text of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act by allowing some businesses to avoid the law’s Dec. 31, 2013 deadline to provide health insurance coverage to their employees. Initially, on July 2, 2013, the administration unilaterally delayed the deadline for the employer mandate until 2015. Now, the administration is unilaterally delaying it for some businesses until 2016. There are no pediatrics involved. There is no reason we should have to offer a pediatric dental plan.” Anderson said her insurer, Harvard Pilgrim Health

Chuck Schumer is the kind of senator who gives used-car salesmen a bad name. My colleague Jerry Kammer used a colloquy between Schumer and Senator Rob Portman last year on the Senate floor to illustrate the two lawmakers’ differing approaches to the immigration issue. Portman, whatever his views on the broader questions of immigration, wanted to make sure any new law would actually work, whereas Schumer’s focus was simply to get a legislative deal completed. He remains proud of his role in putting together the last-minute deal that allowed passage of the 1986 amnesty bill, despite the fact that it

As Politico reports, the White House has agreed to stay out of most of the key races that will decide whether Democrats retain control of the Senate this year. Given the fact that his poll
