Taking testosterone therapy doubled the risk of heart attack among men over age 65 and nearly tripled the risk in younger men with a history of heart disease, a new study shows. (snip) Francisco Lopez-Jimenez, a cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota not involved in the new study, describes the heart risks posed by testosterone therapy as substantial. "That´s equivalent to smoking one or two packs of cigarettes a day, or having sky-high cholesterol," Lopez-Jimenez says.

Despite criticism of President Barack Obama’s pledge that he will use his executive authority and executive orders to advance his agenda regardless of Congress, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said the president “should use his executive authority.” At the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday following the president’s State of the Union speech, CNSNews.com asked Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz, “What do you think of the criticism about using executive order(s) to get things done on climate change or [the] minimum wage?” “Well, the ball’s in their court,” she said, in reference to Republicans in the House of Representatives. “I mean, they have an opportunity

RUSH: This is the one that almost made me come out of the couch. OBAMA: In the coming months, let´s see where else we can make progress together. Let´s make this a year of action! That´s what most Americans want: For all of us, in this chamber, to focus on their lives, their hopes, their aspirations. What I believe unites the people of this nation -- regardless of race or region or party, young or old, rich or poor -- is the simple, profound belief in opportunity for all, the notion that if you work hard and take responsibility, you can

RUSH: The Republican response. You know, the Republican response is a no-win. Any response is a no-win. There´s nothing you can do. It´s television. It´s optics. There´s just no way. You can have the nicest looking room and fireplace in the world, and nothing is gonna compare to a packed House chamber no matter who the president is, no matter what he´s thought of. So it´s a tough thing to overcome. There´s another thing here that -- just so there´s no confusion, I like Cathy McMorris Rodgers. I think she´s fantastic, and I really hope -- well, what I want

Islamofascism: Caving to pressure from Muslim groups, the Pentagon has relaxed uniform rules to allow Islamic beards, turbans and hijabs. It´s a major win for political correctness and a big loss for military unit cohesion. Also, the sharia-compliant regulation threatens to expand the jihadi Fifth Column that counterintelligence already is dealing with in the wake of the Fort Hood massacre. The FBI is tracking more than 100 suspected jihadists within the military. Making special accommodations for Islam will only attract more Muslims into the military at a time when two recent terror cases highlight the ongoing danger of Muslims in uniform. Earlier this

We´ve come out of two recessions, in 2001 and after the World Trade Center attack on 9/11, and the media is just trying as hard as they can to convince people we´re on the verge of a recession/depression. Bieber traveled to Toronto to be booked on the charge, which will happen at a police station later Wednesday, the source said. This is the 19-year-old pop star´s second arrest in a week. Bieber was briefly jailed in Miami last Thursday after he was stopped by a police officer who said he was drag racing in a residential street. He was booked on charges of drunken driving, resisting arrest and driving with

Principle: Republicans look ready to throw in the towel on shrinking the nation´s gargantuan debt. With 10 months to go before midterm elections, it´s yet another slap in the face to the GOP´s most enthusiastic supporters. Nearly all political pundits agree Republicans have the inside track to winning this fall´s congressional elections — and perhaps even recapturing both houses of Congress. The GOP certainly seems to think so. But it might be taking such success for granted. Not only are party leaders like John Boehner and Paul Ryan talking up limited amnesty for immigration law breakers, but Republicans simply shrugged when the

State Of The Union: President Obama made a confession to the American people Tuesday. His call for "a year of action" admits that he´d prefer we forget his five years of failed actions and inaction. Confession may be good for the soul, but it can´t be good for the country when a president admits failure by talking as if somebody else has been in charge for the past five years. "As president, I´m committed to making Washington work better and rebuilding the trust of the people who sent us here," Obama said several minutes into Tuesday´s annual Joint Session speech. A snowstorm in the South is about as rare as a glass of unsweetened tea at a church supper. Folks around Birmingham, Ala. weren’t all that worried though. The storm was only supposed to dust the city – not even enough powder for a Southern snowman. But a good number of those stranded motorists were able to find shelter in the storm thanks to the kindness and generosity of Chick-fil-A restaurant employees and the restaurant´s owner, Mark Meadows.

Have a question on your tax returns? Don´t ask the IRS. As tax day looms, an annual watchdog report to Congress finds that the agency is falling short when it comes to answering Americans´ questions about the convoluted tax code. The National Taxpayer Advocate found only 61 percent of people seeking to speak with a customer service representative last year got through to anybody -- leaving nearly 20 million calls unanswered. The report largely blamed budget cuts, and lamented the impact the poor customer service is having on taxpayers. "At the risk of vast understatement, it is a sad state

As it happens, I watched the end of the State of the Union Address (it really does need another name at this point, since it effectively has nothing to do with the actual state of the union) from the vantage point of an exercise bike at a gym largely patronized by emigres from Armenia and their American-born kids. On two screens, President Obama, swivel-necked, flap-jawed and jug-eared, commanded almost nobody’s attention, while the basketball game on the other screens drew a host of viewers on bikes and treadmills. And this, I reflected, was exactly as it should be. The people all around me were the folks who run the restaurants,

RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina´s unemployment rate dropped to 6.9 percent in December, its lowest level in more than five years, but Tuesday´s news came with signals that the rapid fall was related to thousands of discouraged people giving up on finding work. December´s unemployment rate, down from 7.4 percent the previous month, was the lowest since September 2008, when a building financial crisis shook the world´s economy and brought on the risk of a new Depression. Since July, North Carolina has dropped from being tied for the third-highest unemployment to near the middle of the pack and slightly above

She zeroed in on one tweet, suggesting that President Obama was deliberately ignoring the ongoing Benghazi

Icy chaos gripped the South on Wednesday after a rare winter storm that killed at least six people, stranded children in schools overnight and paralyzed travel in several states, including hundreds of flight cancellations at the world´s busiest airport. As daylight faded, helicopters took to the skies to search for stranded drivers, some who have now been stuck in their vehicles for more than 24 hours with temperatures plunging again into the teens. Yes, you read that right. Telling the story Wednesday at a State Department awards ceremony, Kerry said that when he was a lawyer in Boston, “I walked out of a restaurant one night with a friend of mine, probably having had too much of a good bottle of wine, and looked out and saw an empty space in Faneuil Hall marketplace. Good evening. I’m Senator Mike Lee, from Utah. In the few minutes I have tonight – I’d like to speak especially to those Americans who may feel they have been forgotten by both political parties: Those individuals and families who work hard, play by the rules, balance their budgets, honor the Golden Rule ... and don’t understand why their government in Washington can’t do the same. You are probably as frustrated as I am about an ever-growing government that somehow thinks it is okay to lie to, spy on and even target its own citizens. Many hard-working Americans are discouraged and wondering what, if anything, can be done.

SAN FRANCISCO – Apple reshaped technology and society when Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone seven years ago. Now, the trend-setting company is losing ground to rivals that offer what Apple has stubbornly refused to make: smartphones with lower prices and larger screens than the iPhone. The void in Apple´s lineup is a major reason why the company´s quarterly revenue may fall for the first time in more than a decade, much to the dismay of investors who are worried that Apple is losing its verve and vision. Wall Street vented its frustration after Apple reported late Monday that it sold
