Governor Walker´s Wisconsin Earthquake of
Conservatism Goes Ignored by Media, GOP

RUSH: I need to illustrate a point. Yesterday there was really profound, great news out of the state of Wisconsin. In my mind, earth-shattering news. In my mind, it´s the kind of news that should have caused a political earthquake, and probably did. It´s just that nobody reacted to it. Here you have one of the bluest of blue states. You have a Republican governor, a conservative Reaganesque governor who was targeted twice for removal. They did everything they could to gin up hate, anger, tried to destroy his reputation, his career, and his life. He hung in there. The state

RUSH: I got an e-mail during the break, and our first call somewhat related to this. But I got an e-mail. "Rush, are you against the government building roads? How else do you think it´s going to happen?" There are certain things to me that are self-evident that are common sense that maybe they´re not to others. So let me spell it out. I´m not against the government building roads. That is a legitimate government function. But I am very much against the government claiming that their building the road is the reason somebody on the road is successful. I´m deeply

Bill de Blasio, New York´s new left-wing mayor, this week experienced a demonstration of the hazards of divisive politicking. On Tuesday the city was blanketed with a foot of global warming. A major snowstorm is always a political event, as the effectiveness of the Sanitation Department´s response provides a test of municipal government that affects almost all city residents. The New York Post reported Tuesday evening: "It really is a tale of two cities--this time with the tony Upper East Side getting the shaft!" The Dickens allusion was by way of de Blasio, for whom "tale of two cities" was a

IBM managers are working on their lists and checking them twice, but this is not about Santa Claus. It’s about downsizing. People with access to inside-IBM information have told the Poughkeepsie Journal that managers have to identify candidates by Friday for a future “resource action” to eliminate jobs. Managers in the U.S. Systems and Technology Group were told they needed to do some planning in case a resource action is approved. Employees are not being told at this point. That development is consistent with Tuesday’s revelations by IBM Chief Financial Officer Martin Schroeter that the first quarter would bring the

Some religious affiliated non-profits will remain temporarily exempt from requirements in the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, to cover birth control and other reproductive health coverage they oppose for religious reasons. That is the result of a Supreme Court decision on Friday that extended an injunction for a Catholic charity run by nuns, the Little Sisters of the Poor. The exemption stands while the case is being considered by the lower courts. It is a clear victory for the religious group and its insurer.

´Planet Hillary´: Clinton cover

The New York Times Magazine for this Sunday depicts former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton as a bizarre-looking planet, inspiring quite a range of reactions. The cover accompanies the story “Planet Hillary” by Amy Chozick, a look at the potential 2016 Democratic presidential front-runner. Clinton, who left her post at the State Department last year, has not confirmed that she will be revving up her second presidential campaign, though that hasn’t stopped supporters from raising funds and preparing for the campaign. The magazine’s design director, Arem Duplessis, said in a blog post that the idea to turn Clinton into a disembodied

Election Day is almost nine months off. But right now Republicans seem almost certain to hold the House of Representatives and are likely to take the Senate. Which raises the inevitable question: How might the GOP seize defeat from the jaws of victory? Two occasions stand out, two obvious obstacles ahead that could lead to disastrous Republican stumbles, two pitfalls on the path to a happy GOP Election Day. Republicans are pretty good at falling into such pits. One is the increase in the debt limit, which Congress will have to deal with in the next month or two. The other

Patrick Festa says that after President Barack Obama left his Scranton, Pennsylvania, home following a November 2011 visit, things got “a little creepy.” Friends and neighbors flocked to the house to pose for pictures in the dining room chair where Obama sat for lunch before giving a speech urging a payroll tax-cut extension. Festa and his wife, Donna, kept the president’s used teacup and napkin in the same spot for “too long.” Today, the thrill of that presidential visit has faded amid the financial strains that Festa, 51, a third-grade teacher, says have intensified over the last two years.

As President Obama prepares for his State of the Union speech Tuesday night, he has solicited members of his Cabinet for ideas of executive actions he could take without Congressional approval that would further his goal of tackling income inequality. In the first weeks of January, Obama has repeatedly said he he has a “pen and his phone” and will use them to bypass Congressional gridlock and help his agenda. While White House spokesman Jay Carney said he didn´t want to preview the president´s speech, he said no one should be surprised that he´s going to “reemphasize his capacity” as

The release of Justin Bieber’s mugshot once again reminds us just how fascinating these little pieces of celebrity photography can be. Does the person under arrest have the presence of mind to flash their signature smile, as Bieber evidently did, or are they so far off the deep end that they lose all sense of vanity and simply succumb to their new reality? To examine this phenomenon, below is a look back at some of the most remarkable mugshots from prominent media figures over the last several decades, for too many of whom were arrested in Florida.

TAMPA — Some Florida Republicans fear, and some Democrats hope, that a November referendum on legalizing medical marijuana in Florida will drive young and liberal voters to the polls, helping Democratic candidates including gubernatorial challenger Charlie Crist. The initiative, still not certified for the November ballot, is generating charges of political motives from both sides. Some Republicans call it an expensive ploy by Crist´s backers to help him win. “It is no coincidence that Charlie Crist´s law partner and biggest supporter, John Morgan, is financing medical marijuana,” said Gainesville-based GOP consultant Alex Patton. “It´s a plan.” Some Democrats, meanwhile, say

It was the mid-1950s. Around nine years old and the eldest of five, I, along with my parents, was extremely excited as we oohed and ahed over our new home -- new appliances and everything. Our family moved from a leaky-roof, pot-belly-wood-stove row house in the ghetto of east Baltimore to a brand new government high-rise. Apartment 6B was our new home in the 11-story building of all black residents. Little did I realize that living in the projects and other life experiences would lead to my becoming a black conservative, a Christian, and a Tea Party activist. In a short time,
