The world needs to think very carefully
about how to deal with Kim Jong-un

Kim Jong-un, the North Korean Dictator, is obviously insane. First he allegedly had his ex-girlfriend executed by machine gun. Now it is being reported that he ordered his uncle to be torn apart by savage dogs. Up until now the conventional opinion about Kim Jong-un has been that he falls into the prototype of demented Marxist despots. I don´t think this fully accounts for his character. To understand Kim Jong-un, one must read Suetonius´s The Twelve Caesars. Kim is comparable to a figure such as Caligula or Nero, both of whom were driven insane by absolute power. Eventually they were killed, but

Just over two years since American troops entirely withdrew from Iraq, the black flag of Al Qaeda flies over the city of Fallujah’s government buildings in Iraq’s western Anbar Province. It was there that several American contractors were killed and strung up over a bridge in 2004 and American Marines fought the biggest battle of the Iraq War. “The capture of Fallujah came amid an explosion of violence across the western desert province of Anbar in which local tribes, the Iraqi security forces and al-Qaeda militants have been fighting one another for days in a confusingly chaotic three-way war,” reads a

Apparently the threat promise of seeing Kathy Griffin topless backfired on CNN. The Fox News Channel´s New Years Eve special not only beat CNN in total viewers, but Anderson Cooper and Griffin´s viewership plummeted nearly 40% over last year -- from 2.3 million viewers last year to only 1.426 million Tuesday night. CNN did, however, beat Fox news in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 demo. The 1.426 million rating is also a new low for CNN, going all the way back to 2008. 2008: 2.31 million. 2009: 1.673 million 2010: 1.532 million 2011: 1.605 million Could it be that the public is finally tiring of watching Griffin´s annual

The two television networks – ABC and NBC – that covered the 2014 Tournament of Roses parade live on Jan. 1 are not saying why the wedding of two men atop the AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s float was not part of their programming viewed by more than 60 million people around the world. When CNSNews.com asked whether the wedding was covered and, if not, why not, ABC’s press office said there would be no official statement about the event and cited technical issues. NBC did not respond to the questions. ABC ran a news article about the gay wedding on Jan.

RUSH: "Eleven Republican attorneys general..." By the way, that is the correct way to say it. Obama says "attorney generals." He´s Harvard educated, and he says that, just like "corpseman," in the Marines, and 57 states and other things. Regardless, "Eleven Republican attorneys general say that the Obama [Regime] is breaking the law by repeatedly making changes to Obamacare without going through Congress," and they´re right. "The attorneys general specifically criticize Obama´s executive action that allowed insurance companies to keep offering health plans that had been cancelled for not meeting Obamacare´s more rigorous standards." The U.S. government is trying to apprehend an al Qaeda terrorist wanted for his role in the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack that killed four Americans. The suspect, Muhammad Jamal, was imprisoned in Egypt last fall and in September was being held by the Egyptian government. His current whereabouts could not be confirmed, said U.S. officials who spoke on condition of anonymity. One official said Jamal remains in Egyptian custody, contrary to reports that he was in Yemen. Jamal was labeled a designated terrorist by the United Nations Oct. 18, identifying him and the group he formed, the Muhammad Jamal Network, as linked

While we were away, the Department of Health and Human Services offered what might be termed a concession to reality. In a Dec. 19 letter, Secretary Kathleen Sebelius informed Virginia´s Mark Warner and five other members of the Democratic Senate Caucus that what she called a "small number of consumers" would be granted an "exemption from the individual responsibility requirement" of ObamaCare during 2014. "Individual responsibility requirement" is HHS jargon for what is commonly called the "individual mandate" and is legally not a requirement or mandate at all but an additional tax on the income of Americans who lack medical insurance

On the surface, the tale of Sergio Garcia’s legal triumph is heart-warming. The native of Mexico worked hard in several jobs and went to college, eventually graduating from Cal Northern School of Law and passed the state’s unusually challenging bar exam on his first try. He should be celebrated as an example of how the American dream still works for immigrants who are willing to follow the same path emigrants from other countries pursued in the past. But because Garcia entered this country illegally, his successful attempt to practice as an attorney illustrates both the dysfunction of the current system

Yesterday, the New York Times urged the Obama administration to offer Edward Snowden “a plea bargain or some form of clemency.” The paper called the former NSA contractor “a whistle-blower” for his exposure of “the vast scope” of the NSA’s “reach into the lives of hundreds of millions of people in the United States and around the globe.” Perhaps Snowden is what the Times portrays him to be, a hero of sorts, yet the editors of the paper rushed to judgment. In their editorial they did not even raise the possibility that he passed along vital national security secrets to China.

A White House official once noted that the problem with the national press corps is it can only keep one idea in its mind at a time. And while that’s often true, it’s not at the moment in regard to Republicans.Today’s media line on the Republican party is it faces irreversible decline. That’s on the one hand. On the other, Republicans have a solid shot at capturing the Senate in the midterm elections in November, are all but certain to retain control of the House, and have reasonable prospects of winning the White House in 2016. That these two scenarios conflict

Oakland -- Children´s Hospital Oakland reached an agreement with the family of Jahi McMath on Friday that will allow a critical care team to enter the hospital to move the girl to an unspecified facility. The agreement, described in the courtroom of Alameda County Superior Court Judge Evelio Grillo, is the latest development in an unusual battle between the hospital and the girl´s family, who is rejecting the declaration that Jahi is dead after doctors determined that she was brain dead. PASADENA, Calif. — A Texas-sized cloud of uncertainty looms over college football’s biggest game of the season. As No. 1 Florida State and No. 2 Auburn prepare in Southern California to meet Monday in the last BCS championship game, the University of Texas is still looking for a new football coach. And until the Longhorns make a hire, just about every successful coach can be considered a candidate — including Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher and Auburn’s Gus Malzahn. “I’ve been amazed about how quiet this thing has been,” ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit said earlier this week. “Because of that it

Virginia is the worst state in the U.S. for burglars, according to a new nationwide study by a security systems company. According to statistics compiled by SimpliSafe Home Security Systems, Virginia homeowners are 46 percent less likely to be burgled than the national average. The study compares the legislative codes of all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia, and contrasts maximum and minimum burglary sentences, as well as maximum fines, as well as other factors. According to the study, Virginia has both the highest maximum fine for burglary--$100,000--as well as the toughest maximum prison sentence--life in prison.

CHICAGO — The new year brought relief to some Illinois patients newly insured under the nation’s health care law. Others still weren’t sure whether they were covered, despite their best efforts to navigate the often-balky new system. The major benefits of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul took effect Wednesday, the first day of 2014. By Thursday, the first business day of the new insurance system, it became clear that snags in the rollout of the Affordable Care Act still remained. On the plus side, the law’s protections mean consumers can no longer be denied coverage if they’re in poor

It took 30 minutes for the First Family to be driven from their vacation home to the cemetery, where they stayed for just a few minutes, according to the

He called it "pure bull" for the paper to claim that the attack was not "meticulously planned" and was actually a response to an anti-Islam video. O´Reilly specifically called out the Times reporters for not mentioning a Pentagon report from prior to the attack that highlighted links between Ansar al-Shariah - the group blamed for the attack - and al Qaeda.
