Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has released a statement in response to A&E´s decision to indefinitely suspend Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson for religious comments he made about homosexuality in GQ Magazine. The Robertson family lives in Monroe, Louisiana. “Phil Robertson and his family are great citizens of the State of Louisiana. The politically correct crowd is tolerant of all viewpoints, except those they disagree with. I don’t agree with quite a bit of stuff I read in magazine interviews or see on TV," Jindal said. In fact, come to think of it, I find a good bit of it offensive.

Three people, including a 74-year-old man, were shot to death within three hours on the South and Southwest sides in Chicago overnight, according to authorities. Adding to the toll are two teens who died Wednesday after being shot earlier in the week. The 74-year-old man was found dead inside a car around 4:45 a.m. today. He suffered several gunshot wounds and died at the scene in the 7000 block of South East End Avenue, police said. Not long afterward, another man, 41, was found dead in a car about three blocks north, in the 6700 block of South East End

The man who sparked an international furor by offering bogus sign language interpretation at a major memorial service for late South African President Nelson Mandela has reportedly been admitted to a psychiatric hospital for treatment. The Star newspaper reported that Thamsanqa Jantjie was admitted to the Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital on Tuesday after being taken for a check-up by his wife, Siziwe. The paper reported that doctors suggested that Thamsanqa be admitted immediately. "The past few days have been hard. We have been supportive because he might have had a breakdown," Siziwe said. Thamsanqa Jantjie gained international infamy overnight when he

Not so long ago, casually throwing the Knights Templar into polite conversation was a litmus test of mental health. One of Umberto Eco’s characters in Foucault’s Pendulum summed it up perfectly. He declared that you could recognise a lunatic "by the liberties he takes with common sense, by his flashes of inspiration, and by the fact that sooner or later he brings up the Templars". But all good things come to an end. The enigmatic medieval monk-knights are no longer a fringe interest for obsessives. They are now squarely mainstream. And as 18 March 2014 draws closer, Templarmania is going

The distraught family of Lee Rigby have today paid a tearful tribute to the ´brave´ soldier after two British Muslim fanatics were found guilty of his murder. Fusilier Rigby, 25, was ´mutilated, almost decapitated and murdered´ by Michael Adebowale, 22, and Michael Adebolajo, 28, who ambushed him outside his military barracks in Woolwich, South East London on May 22. During their trial Lee Rigby´s bereft family were forced to watch footage and hear gruesome accounts of the soldier being run down at 40mph and hacked to death in the street. The jury, who will be offered counselling, took just 90

Duck Dynasty has been sacrificed on the altar of political correctness. By now you probably know that A&E indefinitely suspended Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family, for following the teachings of the Holy Bible. Nothing says tolerance and diversity by silencing the Christians and shoving them in a closet. Between you and me, I think Duck Dynasty ought to indefinitely suspend A&E. Phil ran afoul of intolerant leftwing bullies after making comments about homosexuality to GQ magazine. When the writer asked Phil what he considered to be sinful behavior, he replied:

The song “Silent Night” is at the heart of a concert controversy on Long Island. Kings Park schools officials removed several religious references, including “Holy infant” and “Christ the Savior,” from the popular Christmas carol before a student concert last week, WCBS 880's Mike Xirinachs reported. The intent was not to offend non-Christians, but the change upset others. (Snip) The school superintendent and principal of the Ralph J. Osgood Intermediate School have since apologized. They admit it was a mistake to edit the song and promise it won’t happen again, Xirinachs reported.

The A&E network has suspended Phil Robertson, patriarch of the Duck Dynasty clan, for perceived anti-gay remarks in a recent GQ interview. While discussing God, sin, and repentence, Robertson was asked what he found to be sinful: "Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there," he says. "Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men…Don´t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers -- they won´t inherit the kingdom of God. I saw the next headline no more than a few hours later. (snip) How´s that tolerance workin´ for ya´? "Tolerance," as it has been marketed, was always a con. Aristotle said that "[t]olerance is the last virtue of a dying society," but it´s also the vice that kills it. And it so often is a vice because it´s generally misunderstood. West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin found a way to give Sen. Marco Rubio a lump of coal for Christmas and not have it be an insult. Rubio, who began the year giving cable news fodder for his demise by drinking water and ends it as a Tea Party member with an asterisk to his name, certainly spent the year causing enough waves to expect a lump of coal from someone out there. At least this time, his gift was not the usual Santa punishment for children who had a naughty year but a symbol of hard work and integrity from a

Unable to ignore millions of cancellation letters and a rare presidential apology, fact-checkers at PolitiFact and the Washington Post designated “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it” as their “Lie of the Year.” Reeling from Obamacare’s deceptive sales tactics, Americans dread its fallout but know that our system allows us to Think Again. We can repeal and replace bad laws. But we can’t reverse the fall-out from Iranian nukes, which explains President Kennedy’s warning that while “domestic policy can defeat us, foreign policy can kill us.” It also explains the backlash from allies and Congress against
