RUSH: I´m looking at the latest Obama polling data. Folks, there´s a crack in the dike, and I don´t think there´s anything to fix it. A hole in the dike, a crack in the dike, or something. It is bad. And I don´t think that there´s anything they can do about it. They brought in John Podesta, they brought him in from his think tank that George Soros buys, Clinton´s former chief of staff, and all Podesta is is a hack. Podesta is a tactician, and he comes up with strategies and tactics to hopefully destroy conservatives and Republicans. That's not gonna save Obama. The conservatives and Republicans don't have anything to do with this.

RUSH: I had a number of e-mails from people who thought that I dropped the ball yesterday because I didn´t mention the upcoming budget deal. People thought... The Stick-to-the-Issues Crowd thought that I had dropped the ball. I was spending too much time on jocularity and frivolous, fun things, when the Republicans were about to give away the bank in budget negotiations with Patty Murray and the Democrats. I didn´t drop the ball; I just didn´t discuss it for a very simple reason: There´s nothing I could have done. There´s nothing I could have said on the radio yesterday. There's no interview I could've conducted that was going to

RUSH: Are you aware of the controversy over that selfie Obama took of himself and the prime minister of Denmark and David Cameron? And there´s more than one photo. I mean, this guy, folks, we gotta be up front here. There is no question Obama was enjoying whatever was going on between the two of them. He took a selfie in the middle of the ceremony honoring Nelson Mandela, and in all of the pictures Michelle is not looking pleased, not involved, not engaged, not looking happy. In fact, in the series of photos that have been taken, Obama gets up to leave to go make his speech, and when he comes back, Michelle has taken his seat

Book on ´submissive wives´

A book advising newly-wed women on how to be "submissive" has become a publishing phenomenon in Spain while outraging feminists who have called for it to be banned. The polemic book by married Italian author Costanza Miriano titled ´Cásate y sé sumisa – Get Married and Be Submissive – was published by the Catholic Arbishopric of the southern city of Granada in November and soared up the bestseller list. The book, which was a bestseller in Italy, preaches a message of "loyal obedience, generosity and submission" on the part of the new wife and offers nuggets of advice for the newly-wed on how to please one's husband.

Temple student Walter Smolarek remembers feeling energized when he heard Mumia Abu-Jamal’s voice directed at him. “People, especially young people, can and must build movements that can force politicians to address issues of social justice,” Abu-Jamal, a radical who was convicted of the 1982 murder of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner, said in a taped recording played at the Asian Arts Initiative on Saturday. Google is already heavily criticised for trying to know almost everything about us, and now the firm wants to get inside our homes, literally. Engineering director Scott Huffman told The Independent that in his vision of the future Google users would have microphones fitted inside their homes. Huffman envisages houses with microphones fitted to the ceiling that act like personal assistants; responding to voice queries and connecting to phones, tablets and other smart devices. He said: ‘Imagine I say ‘Can you bring up a video of the highlights of yesterday’s Pittsburgh Steelers game and play it on a TV in the living room?’ and it works

Canada has made a claim on the North Pole in an effort to assert its sovereignty in the resource-rich Arctic. [Snip] Canada filed the preliminary submission last week based on rules laid out in the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, which regulates international law for the oceans. If successful, the country will have rights to the polar region´s resources, which is estimated to contain 30 percent of the world´s undiscovered natural gas and 15 percent of oil. While Canada´s Foreign Affairs Minister, John Baird announced that the country’s final claim would include the North Pole, he added scientific evidence to back the claim isn't yet ready.

Ryan budget deal gets positive review

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) won positive reviews from skeptical House Republicans on Wednesday morning for the budget deal he negotiated with Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), as senior lawmakers predicted a strong vote as early as Thursday. While some conservatives criticized the deal, lawmakers said there was little sign of the kind of revolt that has derailed Republican fiscal plans in the past. The House is likely to vote on the plan Thursday, and because party leaders expect significant support from Democrats, they are not sweating defections from the right flank. “We feel very good about where we are with our members,”

A Least Bad Budget Deal

The best that can be said about the House-Senate budget deal announced late Tuesday is that it includes no tax increases, no new incentives for not working, and some modest entitlement reforms. Oh, and it will avoid another shutdown fiasco, assuming enough Republicans refuse to attempt suicide a second time. The worst part of the two-year deal is that it breaks the 2011 Budget Control Act´s discretionary spending caps for fiscal years 2014 and 2015. The deal breaks the caps by some $63 billion over the two years and then re-establishes the caps starting in 2016 where they are in current

MOSCOW— A Russian Cabinet member says Moscow has reserved the right to use nuclear weapons in response to a conventional strike. Wednesday´s comments by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin carried by Russian news agencies reflected Moscow´s concern with prospective U.S. weapons. Weapons that have been developed in the U.S. under the so-called "prompt global strike" program would be capable of striking targets anywhere in the world in as little as an hour with deadly precision. Russia, which has lagged far behind in developing such weapons, has described them as destabilizing. Without naming the U.S., Rogozin said that those who "experiment

Canada Post lost C$73m in the third quarter of the current fiscal year, CBC News reported.
