EXCLUSIVE: The Obama administration overruled career Homeland Security officials and expedited visa applications for about two dozen foreign investors for a politically connected Las Vegas casino hotel after repeated pressure from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his staff, according to internal government documents obtained by The Washington Times. The move to overturn what is normally a non-appealable visa decision came despite concerns about “suspicious financial activity” involving some of the visa applicants from Asia, and it ultimately benefited several companies whose executives have donated heavily in recent years to Democrats, the documents show. It also ensnared Mr. Obama’s current

Pleasantly surprised and a bit shocked, I enjoyed religious Christmas carols playing in the elevator of a major hotel. Progressive bullies are relentless in their quest to repeal the celebration of Jesus´s birthday, Christmas, declared a federal holiday in 1870 by President Ulysses S. Grant. Illustrating the effectiveness of the progressives´ intimidation, anonymously, signs are being stealthily posted in public areas: "It´s OK to say Merry Christmas." The progressives´ assault on Christmas leads me to MSNBC-TV host Martin Bashir´s degrading and disgusting punishment suggested for Sarah Palin (i.e., that someone defecate in her mouth). While watching the deplorable MSNBC segment,

The US and Britain have suspended all non-lethal assistance in to northern Syria after forces from the new Islamic Front seized headquarters and warehouses belonging to the opposition’s Supreme Military Council. Fighters from the Front, a union of six major rebel groups, took control of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) bases at the Bab al-Hawa crossing on Syria’s northwestern border with Turkey late on Friday. Turkey shut its side of the border crossing, in Hatay province, due to a reported increase in clashes on the Syrian side, customs sources told the Reuters news agency. There’s a YouTube clip I can’t stop watching called “Margaret Thatcher don’t want to jump”. The then Prime Minister has just reached the end of a TV interview, and the presenter is asking her to “make a little jump”. “Why?” It’s “just a gimmick” that all her guests do. Thatcher raises an eyebrow. “I bet that you wouldn’t do it,” says the presenter, becoming at the same time conciliatory, wheedling, insistent. “Just a little jump.” Come on. “Gorbachev did it.” “But what”, inquires the Iron Lady icily, “is the point of it?” “It just shows another side

The paper said it also came despite concerns about “suspicious financial activity” involving some Asian applicants. California’s budding doctor rebellion against Obamacare appears to be genuinely spontaneous, lacking leadership from a single individual or organization. As the Washington Examiner has reported in recent days, an estimated 70 percent of California´s physicians -- ranging from general practitioners to specialists -- are "just saying no" to Obamacare´s Covered California health insurance exchange. Although it appears leaderless, some observers believe that very spontaneity may make the doctor rebellion a formidable force in California’s health-care future. “Doctors are realizing what is happening and spontaneously they are acting like this. There’s a movement growing,” said Sally Pipes, president of the San Francisco-based

Like the rest of him, Barack Obama’s mass circulated photos from photo-ops like yesterday’s Mandela Memorial, are phony. The photo of Obama tweeted by the White House on Dec. 5 in response to Nelson Mandela’s death was taken six months earlier at the Robben Island prison where Mandela spent 27 years of his life. You can call ‘Obama Behind Bars in Robben Island Prison’ Obama’s prepper picture. While America is being held in an ObamaCare stranglehold, blood pressure shot up when a photo of Obama shaking Cuban President Raul Castro’s hand went viral on the Net yesterday. As that photo was still burning

But for a family worth 83 million dollars, you can bet those presents will be piled high under their various

FALFURRIAS, TX — U.S. Border Patrol agents seized more than 2,200 pounds of marijuana Monday at the Falfurrias Checkpoint on U.S. Highway 281 North. During an inspection at the checkpoint, a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in a tractor-trailer. Agents used a mobile X-ray device to scan the vehicle, which revealed the marijuana hidden inside crates. When the agents opened the crates they found concrete benches and bundles of marijuana. The marijuana, which has an estimated value of more than $1.7 million, was seized

He let out a heavy sigh when Sebelius insisted that “The [Federally-Facilitated Marketplace] hub has worked beautifully from start to finish.” Burgess quizzed Sebelius about a private accountability report she commissioned six months prior to the website’s launch which indicated that the ACA exchanges website was going to experience a number of

Nicolle Wallace played the quintessential DC insider on today´s Morning Joe, proclaiming herself a "groupie" of both conservative Senator Tom Coburn and liberal partisan David Axelrod, while also saying she was "inspired" by Paul Ryan´s leadership in forging a budget compromise deal. But the Sooner senator wasn´t letting the inside-the-Beltway bonhomie blunt his criticism, saying the budget deal "sells out" what needs to be done, and gives up "core values." Nothing is more important in agriculture than place. What is successful on one kind of soil in one kind of climate won’t necessarily work in another place with a different soil or different weather patterns. Farmers have always gained the knowledge necessary to understand a place through hard-won and rarely transferable experience. What farmer Brown knows about his land might travel down the road a few miles, but it is less applicable on a similar farm in a different part of the country. This idea of place is what drives the local food movement. Wineries brag about the perfection of

New York City is fortunate to have a large LBGT community, but in Brooklyn in particular, the lesbian community, there’s no question it’s the capital of the Northeast. “They’ve made unbelievable contributions to the quality of life

NEW DELHI — India´s Supreme Court on Wednesday overturned a lower court´s ruling that decriminalized gay sex, a move condemned by gay rights activists as a big step backward in their struggle for acceptance in this largely conservative country. In 2009 the Delhi High Court ruled that a 19th-century provision in the country´s penal code that prohibited people from engaging in "carnal acts against the order of nature" should not apply to consenting adults, including same-sex couples. The Supreme Court rejected that decision Wednesday, saying the old law was still constitutionally valid and could only be changed or erased through Parliament, not

ISTANBUL, Turkey — The United States has suspended delivery of non-lethal aid into northern Syria due to concerns over gains by Islamist rebels there, a U.S. official said on Tuesday. The suspension halts direct U.S. assistance to Syria’s rebel-held north, long an opposition stronghold and the focal point of U.S. efforts to support the country’s moderate opposition. The affected aid includes supplies such as food and medicine, as well as vehicles and communications equipment. When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what

Nearly 365,000 people selected a private health plan on state Obamacare markets through the end of November — a sign that people are flocking to the patched-up federal website, HealthCare.gov — although the new pace falls short of long-range projections for an inaugural sign-up period that ends in March.
