Belligerent Zeke Emanuel Again
Helps the Anti-Obamacare Cause

Fox News Sunday´s Chris Wallace was not in the mood to put up with Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel´s standard-issue leftist guff on Sunday (video here). Last night, I noted that the pressed Emanuel until he forced a "yes" out of him to a simple question: "Didn´t he (President Obama) say, ´If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.´" That move brought out Emanuel´s ridiculous contention that what Obama somehow really meant was, "If you want to pay more for an insurance company that covers your doctor, you can do that. This is a matter of choice." Everyone but you

Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I

When I first heard the claim, I thought it was a mistake or hoax. A talking head was describing a raging war in the Democratic Party between progressives and centrists. Centrist Democrats? Aren’t they already extinct? Yes, they’re gone, the dodo birds of politics. But the chattering classes, needing something to chatter about and slow to face facts about their darling liberals, are just discovering that the party of Barack Obama and Bill de Blasio bears little resemblance to the party of FDR, JFK and even Bill Clinton. Oh, please. Some of us have been saying this for years. The Democratic Party has

Former Alaska Governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will host a new outdoors show on The Sportsman Network, set to begin airing in 2014. The weekly show, entitled Amazing America, will showcase Palin’s “red, white, and blue” lifestyle. Palin is no stranger is television, having starred in her own reality show in 2011, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, which lasted only nine episodes. (Hey, remember this?) Palin won’t be the only right-wing figure on the network, as Ted Nugent hosts his own hunting show, Wanted Ted or Alive. Currently promoting her Christmas book, Good Tidings and Great Joy, Palin recently became

President Obama will make remarks on Nelson Mandela´s legacy during a memorial service Tuesday for the late South African freedom fighter, officials said Monday. "We do expect President Obama to speak as part of the program," said Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser for strategic communications. The president and first lady Michelle Obama departed Monday for Johannesburg, where a Mandela memorial service will be held in a soccer stadium. Obama, who will also spend time with the Mandela family, is not scheduled to hold any bilateral meetings with foreign leaders while in South Africa, Rhodes said. Rhodes also said the

The White House denied allegations from Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh that it “cherrypicked” data to make the case against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons. Hersh published the charge in the London Review of Books on Sunday: Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community:

I have a rule about Tweeting: If I delay for even a nano-second from pressing the "Tweet" button, I don´t send it. This was an example of something that I did not send yesterday afternoon: How much of the keening over the death of Mandela is by people feeling guilt over largely ignoring his having been in jail for 3 decades? I didn´t send that, because I wasn´t sure of who was in charge of what during the 27 years that Nelson Mandela was incarcerated from 1962 to 1989. Now I do. In those years -- for every single day of those 27 years

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly

Last week, CNSNews reported that a Georgia school in Bulloch County decided to confiscate the Christmas cards that were posted along the hallways over the Thanksgiving break. Traditionally, the school always had Christmas cards posted, but school administrators decided to un-deck the halls. The Bulloch County Board of Education has even posted on its website under "Press Releases" (12/3/13) seventeen "Case Law Talking Points" on why it has the power to ruin the holidays by banning free speech: 1. With regards to the issue or religion, the First Amendment provides that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or

Joshua Strange will never forget the girl he met in May 2011. Both were underclassmen at Alabama´s Auburn University when a common acquaintance introduced them. "We instantly became attached at the hip and did everything together," she recalled six months later. "I rather quickly moved into his place. . . . Everything was great until pretty much June 29." That night, an intimate encounter in Mr. Strange´s bed went wrong. She called police, who detained him for questioning. Obamacare supporters may tout free preventive care, free immunizations, and free cancer screenings, but when it comes to the Democrats’ health care law, nothing is free, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said on Sunday. “First of all, there is nothing for free. You’re going to pay for it, and we’re paying for it through higher premiums,” Paul told “Fox News Sunday.” “The Republican plan is freedom of choice -- more choices, not less. Obamacare narrows your choices. We´re for competition. We´re for selling insurance across state lines. And above all, we´re for driving premiums down. The problem under the old system was premiums

But what I´m saying is, unless we have the security of an agreement to protect our forces, then we´ll have no choice. We´ll -- we will not be able to stay," Hagel told CBS News State Department correspondent Margaret Brennan. The interview

Dharamsala (India) - The Dalai Lama, who has twice since 2009 been denied a visa for South Africa, is not planning to attend his fellow Nobel laureate Nelson Mandela´s funeral, his spokesman said Sunday. "He has no plans to go," spokesman Tenzin Takhla told AFP in the northern Indian hilltop town of Dharamsala where the Tibetan spiritual leader is headquartered. Takhla did not say why the Dalai Lama would not attend Mandela´s national memorial service on Tuesday or the December 15 burial at his boyhood home of Qunu. Many observers, including myself, have drawn unflattering comparisons between the disastrous administration of Jimmy Carter – considered by many our worst president ever - and that of President Obama. On reflection, I think we’ve been unkind to Mr. Carter. While he had many faults, Carter seldom lied. On the other hand, President Obama seems to have a complicated relationship with the truth. Most recently – and absurdly- White House spokesman Jay Carney was left to explain that President Obama had indeed met his uncle Onyango Obama– the one who is in the country illegally – despite statements to the contrary made

Can savings from military pensions be part of the solution to avoid deeper cuts from defense next month? That’s an important question facing House-Senate negotiators as they try to close out a deal this week to avoid another round of sequestration in January and restore some certainty to the appropriations process for the remainder of this Congress. The two sides appear close but Democrats are anxious about the level of savings being sought by Republicans from civilian federal workers. Finding some money on the military side of the equation could lessen this burden and make the package more equitable too from a

A tiny figure in minuscule white shorts and a pink strapless top leans against a metal fence outside a school in Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará state, north-east Brazil. She has gloss-coated lips, and her yellow headband, holding back long hair, glows in the lamplight along Juscelino Kubitschek Avenue, which connects the city to the Castelão arena, one of the venues for the 2014 World Cup. A car pulls up. The girl climbs in. This is a common scene around the stadium in Fortaleza, considered Brazil´s child prostitution capital and a magnet for sex tourism, according to local authorities. Transvestites also work the

The Baby Jesus has been kicked off Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina, according to an organization who relishes any opportunity to eradicate Christianity from the U.S. military. The Military Religious Freedom Foundation praised officials at Shaw Air Force Base for removing a Nativity scene located near Memorial Lake on Friday. The traditional Nativity included plastic statues of Mary, Joseph, the Baby Jesus and an assortment of animals. Apparently, an undisclosed number of Airmen were so emotionally troubled by the sight of a manger scene that they immediately notified the MRFF.

Seymour Hersh’s expose in the London Review of Books, which the Washington Post allegedly refused to publish accuses Barack Obama of lying about the Syrian chemical weapons attack which nearly triggered a US attack on Assad. Hersh makes two key assertions: First, Obama retroactively cooked up the narrative that the Assad regime was responsible for the infamous sarin attack on civilians in Eastern Ghouta. Second, that the rebel al-Nusra Front, a jihadi faction of the rebel alliance, might plausibly have been the real culprits. However, those attached to the phone are likely to be less happy than those who can resist a ring or a message alert, says a study. Avid mobile phone users also suffer from higher anxiety while students see their class work suffer with lower marks than those who are able to switch off. Researchers studied more than 500 students to look at their daily phone usage and gauge how it affected their outlook on life. They found that far from making people

Johannesburg - From political posters to bottles of wine and kitchen aprons, the face and name of Nelson Mandela are a potent commercial and political brand in South Africa. Little wonder it´s so sought after - and the source of occasional squabbles. Following his death on Thursday at the age of 95, the scramble for control of the Mandela legacy - both financial and moral - will involve his family, the ruling African National Congress (ANC), and the Nelson Mandela Foundation he set up to protect his broader message. At stake is the inheritance that will go to Mandela´s more than 30
