The US military has halted its ground cargo shipments from Afghanistan via Pakistan because of the risk to drivers after protests over US drone strikes. Pentagon spokesman Mark Wright this would affect outgoing shipments of equipment and other goods from US units on Afghan soil. He said deliveries could be resumed "in the near future". Pakistanis have blocked the US main supply route to Afghanistan, blaming the drones for causing civilian deaths. Protesters have been harassing truck drivers, turning back vehicles carrying Nato provisions. The blockade is centred on a road in Pakistan´s north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Islamabad says it

At a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) said that President Barack Obama should be expanding his prosecutorial discretion when it comes to enforcement of immigration laws. “Unfortunately, he should not be limiting his prosecutorial discretion. He should be expanding his prosecutorial discretion,” Gutierrez said during a hearing on the constitutionality and legality of actions the Obama administration has taken on issues like the enforcement of immigration laws. The president signed a memo calling for deferred action for certain young illegal aliens who came into the country as children and have pursued education or military service

SPRINGFIELD- The Illinois General Assembly today narrowly approved a major overhaul of the state government worker pension system following hours of debate on the controversial plan strongly opposed by employee unions. The House voted 62-53 to approve a measure that aims to wipe out a worst-in-the-nation $100 billion pension debt by reducing and skipping cost-of-living increases, requiring workers to retire later and creating a 401(k) option for a limited number of employees. The measure needed a minimum of 60 votes to pass the House. (See how House members voted HERE.) Moments earlier, the Senate voted for the measure 30-24. The

President Obama’s illegal-alien uncle has been granted the right to remain in the United States to immigration court today, after going before a judge to seek permanent residency and quash a decades-old deportation order today. Onyango Obama, a Kenyan national who was ordered deported in 1992, appeared before immigration judge Leonard I. Shapiro — the same judge who granted asylum in 2010 to Obama’s sister, Zeituni Onyango -- the president´s aunt. Asked about his family in the U.S., Onyango Obama said, "I do have a nephew." Asked to name the nephew, he said, "Barack Obama, he´s the president of the

Rachel Hope of Los Angeles says she’s ready to be a mother again. She’d like to get pregnant next month. The thing is, she has no idea who the father will be. Hope is one of a growing number of Americans interested in exploding the old 1950s notion of the nuclear family. She’s not looking for love. She wants a co-parent. “If you’re blessed to meet a soul mate and you just gel and it works and you have children, that’s ideal, no one is disputing that” said the 42-year-old mother. “But what about the rest of us who didn’t meet

House Majority Leader Rep. Bob Rayner, a reporter for the Times-Dispatch, wrote that Cantor described the push for the KIDS Act, something that would reportedly legalize the status of illegal aliens who are somehow determined to have been brought to America by no fault of their own, as a “one of

After his town advertised a secular "tree lighting ceremony," the mayor of Robbinsville, NJ took matters into his own hands and sent a letter to his constituents that no such thing would occur. Mayor David Fried sent an open letter to the residents of his town yesterday rejecting a title the yearly tree lighting ceremony had acquired over the years, turning from a "holiday tree" to simply a "tree lighting ceremony." The town would have a proper Christmas tree and celebrate religion, because the alternative is "just not right." Noting that the town had proudly lit up a Menorah for

Luckily, Paul Krugman says ObamaCare’s destined to be a smash hit so this will all turn around soon. That graph shows his job approval as of early this morning, when he was at 39.9 percent. The big mystery: Would Gallup’s new approval-rating data, released every weekday at 1 p.m. ET, nudge him back over the 40 percent threshold? Nope — he ended up dropping a point in Gallup

"Health care working better, a lot of people signing up, the economy continuing to strengthen, hopefully no Washington shutdowns. The University of Notre Dame on Tuesday refiled a lawsuit contesting the controversial birth control mandate under ObamaCare. The school said it believes the requirement that it provide its employees birth control as part of their insurance coverage impinges on its religious beliefs, and that efforts by the Obama administration to find a solution would not resolve the issue. Going along with the administration’s plan “would require us to forfeit our rights, to facilitate and become entangled in a program inconsistent with Catholic teaching, and to create the impression that the University cooperates with and condones activities incompatible with its mission,” Notre

Bonner Springs, Kan. — A middle school student is fighting back after she was banned from posting flyers promoting “See You at the Pole,” a prayer event that’s held every year at public schools across the nation. According to court documents, a school counselor ‘forcefully’ told the student, identified only as K.R., her flyers were “illegal,” citing separation of church and state. Court documents state the counselor confronted K.R. after school hours during a school dance in front of her friends. The flyers were subsequently taken down and destroyed by school staff. MSNBC has announced that Chris Matthews, Barack Obama´s most excitable fan, will be interviewing the President on Thursday´s Hardball. Fawning over the liberal politician is incredibly common among journalists, but Matthews has taken it to a whole new level. According to the network host, Obama is a "perfect," "cool," brilliant figure who is comparable to Jesus, Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. The verbose Matthews has no filter when it comes to the Democrat, even once bizarrely blurting out that an Obama speech made him "forget" that the commander in chief "was black."
