On this morning’s Fox and Friends, Dr. Ben Carson weighed in on his CPAC talk that’s continuing to make waves and headlines around the country. In particular, the doctor reacted to comments made yesterday by conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, who claimed that the ripple effects of Carson’s speech are undoubtedly being felt within the Democratic party. “I think Dr. Benjamin Carson probably got everybody in the Democratic party scared to death. It’s going to be really hard to demonize this guy … really,

A Florida school bus driver is facing a five-day suspension for taking a phone call from her Marine son who is serving in Afghanistan. Rossana Lucas says that she only gets a chance to speak to her son every few months, and that there weren’t any children on-board the bus at the time that she took the brief phone call. The school board has agreed to take another look at the case. It appears as though Superintendent Robert Runcie may sympathize with Lucas. He recently said, “We have these rules. Context does matter and

BRIANNA KEILAR, CNN: Now, Senator Reid, Senator Feinstein, had said before that you deserved a vote. But its appearing now it´s going to be an amendment, it could ultimately just be a symbolic vote. What´s your response to this new -- SEN. DIANNE FEINSTEIN (D-CA): No, no if it´s an amendment, that is not a symbolic vote. I did the bill in 1994 on the floor as an amendment, it enacted a law. It went on to the House, it was enacted. What Senator Reid told me is that I would have an opportunity for a vote.

Fox News chief Roger Ailes made headlines when an excerpt from an upcoming biography included quotes of him deeming President Obama “lazy,” Vice President Joe Biden “dumb as an ashtray,” and Newt Gingrich a “prick.” In an interview with Howard Kurtz on The Daily Beast, Ailes said he’s not backing away from the statements for one simple reason: They’re “true.” “Are every one of those statements true? Yes,” Ailes told Kurtz. “Should I have said them? Well, that’s a debate.” When Ailes saw his remarks printed, he “looked at it and thought, someone’s made outrageous statements about

House Dems: Paul Ryan

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., has some “downright sickening” plans today, according to the campaign arm of the House Democratic Caucus. “This is downright sickening,” the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee emails (signed “Democratic Headquarters”) said in an email today. “Today, House Republicans will vote for Paul Ryan’s Medicare-destroying budget. And guess what Ryan’s doing right after? Here’s what: Hosting a lavish fundraiser in the shadow of the Capitol, hobnobbing with those who will benefit the most from his budget — deep-pocketed millionaires and billionaires.”

RNC Chair Reince Priebus released a lengthy and interesting “post-mortem” of the GOP following its defeat during the 2012 presidential election. This was soon followed by a liberal media hoping to cast Republicans as both deeply divided and dysfunction. NOT SO. What is happening is the very thing Republican Insider indicated months ago that the party needed to do – and from this self examination is emerging among best and brightest batch of conservative leaders this country has seen in quite some time. Mark my words reader – DEMOCRATS ARE AFRAID.

This is what an emotional President Obama said in a gym in Newtown, Conn., on a Sunday night in December, two days after 26 people — 20 of them children — were murdered in cold blood by Adam Lanza, all of the killing done by a semiautomatic rifle called the AR-15: “We can’t tolerate this anymore. We are not doing enough and we will have to change.” Then he looked out into the audience and into the faces of the families of the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School and said this to them, and to the country:

The Service Employees International Union applauded Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul for announcing that he supports an immigration bill that would include a pathway to legalization for existing  illegal immigrants. In the statement emailed to reporters (it doesn’t appear to be online) SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Eliseo Medina said: The diversity behind the voices in support of commonsense immigration reform continues to grow, strengthening the call for a solution this year. The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), a group with Muslim Brotherhood origins and an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror-financing trial, recently toured the White House and met with multiple officials. According to the group, Paul Monteiro, Associate Director of the Office of Public Engagement, “cited ISNA as his primary means of outreach to the American Muslim community.” The Obama administration’s close relationship with ISNA is about more than photo ops and press releases. It is about policy formulation.

We first saw some hints of this via Allahpundit more than a week ago. The Democrats certainly would like a big money, high name recognition candidate to take a run at Mitch McConnell in Kentucky next year, and Ashley Judd certainly seems to check both of those boxes. But the closer they looked, the less appealing the choice began to seem. Now it looks like the heavy hitters in the Donkey Party are heading for the exits openly and seeking a better alternative. Democratic heavy hitters — including Bill Clinton — are quietly trying to woo

The news that Rand Paul will headline the Republican Party of Iowa’s “Lincoln Dinner” in May is the latest sign that the Kentucky Senator is an all-but-announced candidate for the GOP’s presidential race. And, while Paul’s interest in the race is no surprise — he has, after all, been very open about wanting to run – the aggressiveness (and earliness) with which he is pursuing that interest will almost certainly flush other would-be contenders out into the open sooner than they might like. “With the Paul faction in complete control of the state party, they’re doubling down hard

The federal government´s grab for bullets is now being matched with a buy of assault-style rifles that would be banned for civilians under President Obama´s gun control law. The Drug Enforcement Agency has just issued a solicitation for AR-15-styled rifles that include other elements that the president and his Democratic allies in the Senate would ban: 30-bullet magazines and a pistol grip. The irony: The rifle, available at Rock River Arms, is virtually identical to the rifle thousands of Americans also own, or want to own, for target practice and varmint hunting. It shoots a .223 caliber

President Barack Obama´s historic visit to Israel this morning had an embarrassing setback when his armored limo broke down on the way to the airport. The custom limo was relegated to a pick up truck after the driver accidentally put gas in the engine instead of diesel. Mr Obama arrived in Tel Aviv Wednesday afternoon local time, and earlier that morning, the limo that was designated to his hotel was unable to move after the driver made the silly mistake. Local news reports allege that it was the President´s limo that was shipped over specially from Washington

The claim by the Free Church of Scotland raises the prospect of English Star Wars enthusiasts flocking – or possibly flying – to Gretna Green for ceremonies complete with guards of honour wielding light sabres instead of swords. Other groups which could also soon be in line to host weddings in Scotland include the Flat Earth Society, which rejects evidence that the world is round – a view once held by the Christian church. The Church´s predictions came as it launched an attack on plans by the First Minister, Alex Salmond, for a new class of “belief” ceremonies –

A limousine that was to have taken President Obama around Israel broke down Wednesday before his arrival in the country, forcing officials to find another car. Israeli media reported that organizers discovered the unspecified malfunction in the car shortly before the president’s arrival in Tel Aviv around noon local time (6 a.m. EDT). CNN reported that the president’s “Beast” limo malfunctioned after it was fueled with gasoline rather than diesel fuel. Mr. Obama didn’t need the limo immediately upon his arrival, however.

I don’t have the words to describe the cowardice of Congress or the depravity of the gun lobby, which conspired to kill the assault-weapons ban. I can’t explain the apparent impotence of President Obama who vowed to “use whatever power this office holds” to convert the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School into commonsense common good. Fortunately, Mike Lupica of the New York Daily News found the words: Any fool knows that [Adam] Lanza couldn’t possibly have killed as many children as quickly as he did on the morning of Dec. 14 without an assault weapon in his hands.

The GOP is full of lose right now. This is mostly unnecessary. It’s always worth taking stock after a defeat, but the 2012 defeat seems to have caused the party’s elites to consider jettisoning many of its core principles. The party’s official autopsy has managed to not only miss some important lessons of 2012, it is now exposing rifts within the party on some issues. This is not leadership, it’s foolishness. Probably the most important lesson that the autopsy misses is the importance of quality candidates. A strong candidate can motivate base voters and win over voters in

Sources voiced concern about the decision to the Investigative Project on Terrorism, which issued a report Wednesday on the under-the-radar announcement -- which was first made by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano after meeting in January with her Saudi counterpart.

The map of the Middle East displayed in an Obama administration video released days before President Barack Obama’s visit to Israel shows the Jewish state dispossessed of substantial parts of its current territory, including its capital. The map of Israel, displayed repeatedly during the video, shows the Golan Heights, Jerusalem, northern Israel, and areas surrounding what is currently the West Bank as non-Israeli territory. The Golan Heights is shown as part of Syria; Jerusalem is shown as part of the West Bank; and northern Israel is shown as part of Lebanon.

This may sound odd coming from someone who has spent his life working in political reporting, but I find it extremely sad when people can’t separate politics from the rest of their lives. I’m not talking about people getting worked up about politicians; we live in divided times, so things are bound to get heated when talking about elected officials. I’m talking about people who say “I want nothing to do with [Person X] because he is a conservative/liberal/Republican/Democrat in his personal life.” This is why I find the Orson Scott Card thing so frustrating.

DOJ argues against naming Israel as

A U.S. Department of Justice attorney argued Tuesday against listing Israel as the birthplace of an American boy born in Jerusalem on his passport. DOJ attorney Dana Kaersvang told the appeals court panel that because the State Department does not recognize Israel’s sovereignty over Jerusalem, the boy cannot list the country as his birthplace, according to a report from the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. The family’s attorney argued that listing birthplace is simply self-identification and shouldn’t be affected by U.S. policy.

An unnamed New York family bought the "Ding" bowl, which is from the Northern Song Dynasty, for no more than $3 in 2007 and displayed it on a mantelpiece with no idea as to its real worth, Sotheby´s said. After consulting with experts, the owners consigned the bowl for auction. Sotheby´s estimated it would sell for $200,000 to $300,000. London dealer Giuseppe Eskenazi paid $2,225,000 including commission for the bowl, which measures just over five inches in diameter, at the auction in New York City.
