On his Friday program, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough ranted against junior Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for questioning the constitutional merits of California Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s gun control proposals. “I don’t mean to go on and on here, but I am so shocked that he would continue to use his seat in the judiciary committee to just mislead millions of Americans and put forward a willfully ignorant position on what the Constitution says and what it does not say,” Scarborough said.

Hostility has been mounting this week in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, after two plainclothes police officers fatally shot 16-year-old Kimani Gray after he allegedly pointed a revolver at them on Saturday night. On Monday a group of about 130 people were marching toward the 67th Police Precinct station when about two dozen young protesters splintered off — drawing riot police — and trashed a Rite Aid. Tuesday the crowd was mostly calm, but on Wednesday — the same day Gray´s autopsy showed he had been shot seven times ...

While GOP Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio announced he had a “change of heart” about the issue of same-sex marriage, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said he doesn’t see himself following suit. Portman on Thursday became the first sitting Republican senator, and one of the highest-profile members of the GOP, to support same-sex marriages. The shift happened, he said, after his son, Will, came out to him as gay. On Friday, McCain told CNN´s Anderson Cooper that he wouldn’t be changing his mind, as the issue is at odds with his beliefs.

Republicans have targeted a federal phone subsidy, widely referred to as the "Obama phone" program, as a prime example of wasteful government spending. But supporters of the program are coming to its defense, arguing that it is crucial for ensuring that needy people are able to communicate with their loved-ones and call for help in an emergency. "Allow me to set the record straight," said Mignon Clyburn, a Democratic member of the Federal Communications Commission, in a speech on Friday. "Without this program, 15 million low-income families would literally be choosing between feeding their children or going without a

President Barack Obama is doubling down on the administration´s plan to reinvest federal oil-and-gas drilling revenues into next-generation alternative energy technology, unveiled during his State of the Union address last February. "After years of talking about it, we’re finally poised to take control of our energy future," Obama said in his weekly address on Saturday, comparing recent increases in gasoline prices "to getting hit with a new tax" at a time when American´s can least afford it. "The only way we’re going to break this cycle of spiking gas prices for good is to shift

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) on Thursday compared the series of automatic federal budget cuts that took effect on March 1 to the Japanese tsunami of 2011 that killed more than 15,000 people and left millions more without power and water, while sparking a nuclear reactor meltdown. “And for those whose memories fade, I want you to be reminded of the tsunami,” Jackson Lee said. “For it does not give notice and it is tragic and reckless for those who say ‘You know what, the sequester has started and I feel pretty good’ because you

A South African cardinal who helped elect Pope Francis has described paedophilia as a psychological illness and not ´a criminal condition´. The Catholic Archbishop of Durban, Wilfrid Fox Napier, told BBC Radio 5 live that people who were abused as children and became paedophiles were not criminally responsible for their actions in the same way as somebody ´who chooses to do something like that´. Cardinal Napier, who was among the 115 cardinals in the conclave at the Vatican that elected Pope Francis earlier this week,

A federal judge has ruled unconstitutional national security provisions that permit federal investigators to access customer information from some companies without court approval. The provisions ‘suffer from significant constitutional infirmities,’ and violate the First Amendment and separation of powers, Judge Susan Illston of the District Court for the Northern District of California wrote in an order on Thursday. The judge´s decision stems from a ‘National Security Letter’ that the FBI issued to an unnamed telecommunications

A Georgia mother says it was a pair of 9 and 10-year-old neighborhood boys who ran to her rescue and instructed her how to perform CPR on her two-month-old son after hearing her desperate cries for help. When Susanna Rohm’s son Isaiah abruptly stopped breathing on Monday afternoon she was sitting home alone and in her panic lost her cell phone and as she immediately felt any chance of calling 911. ´I was sitting in the living room with the baby and I noticed that he was off that day. We import less oil than we have in 20 years,” he said. “We’re producing more natural gas than we ever have before — with hundreds of thousands of good jobs to show for it.” Those numbers are true. Outspoken critic of ObamaCare, Dr. Ben Carson, addressed the Conservative Political Action Conference this morning, detailing why he felt he had to speak out against the new health care law. Carson made headlines for criticizing ObamaCare in front of President Obama during his keynote address at the Annual National Prayer Breakfast. Some said his remarks were inappropriate at a non-political event, while conservatives hailed him for voicing their concerns with the new law. “Health care is one-sixth of our economy. If the government can control that, they can control just about everything.

After listening to Rand Paul speak at National Review’s Washington office, Bob Costa concludes that the senator is leading one side of what is “nothing less than a fight for the soul of the GOP on foreign policy.” Let’s hope so. Whether what emerges is also a conservative foreign policy depends as much on which Senator Paul wins as on whether he wins. If it is the Rand Paul who perceived the common hegemonic denominator between Soviet totalitarianism and Islamic-supremacist totalitarianism in a provocative speech at the Heritage Foundation last month, there is cause for optimism.

There are two reasons conservatives should be excited about "The Lead With Jake Tapper," which premieres Monday on CNN at 4 pm ET. The primary reason, of course, is Tapper himself -- who in my opinion is one of America´s ideal reporters: Smart, tenacious, objective, and ethical. That´s an extremely rare are combination these days. A few hundred more Tappers and I´d be out of a job. The other reason is that from the looks of it, Tapper has no intention of being a Narrative Slave. In an interview with TV Guide, Tapper describes "The Lead" as a program

Next week, the House of Representatives will vote on a plan to improve the lives of American families by balancing the budget in ten years. How do we do it? Well, it’s pretty simple: We stop spending money we don’t have. Historically, we’ve paid a little less than one-fifth of our income in taxes to the federal government each year. But the government has spent more—a lot more. And the results are plain to see: despite the President’s promise, the stimulus didn’t work.

WASHINGTON- Over dinner at a swank hotel a few blocks from the White House, Republican senators wanted to know if President Barack Obama would support a gradual increase in the age of eligibility for Medicare, set at 65 since the program´s inception more than four decades ago. The president hedged, according to several at the event, recalling the discussion on a cost-saving change to Medicare that most if not all leading Democrats in Congress adamantly oppose. One later recalled that Obama "drew no bright line" in opposition, but the lawmaker came away believing that the president "would be very resistant"

It must be quite nice to be king. Or at least think of yourself as king. Dear Leader Barack Obama exhibited that behavior while at a "working lunch" hosted by Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) last Wednesday (March 13). The food consisted of Maine lobster salad, Fox Family Potato Chips (from Maine), wild blueberry pie, and Gifford´s Ice Cream (made in Maine) for the pie. But, Obama could not partake of any of the food because (seriously) his personal taster was not present.

You see, after years of talking about it, we’re finally poised to take control of our energy future.
