Three diplomatic security agents were among the Americans injured during the terrorist attack last September on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, sources tell Fox News, though it remains unclear how many total were injured in the assault. Four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador, were killed in the attack, and the Obama administration faced intense criticism from Republicans in the aftermath over security problems and apparent inconsistencies in officials explanation of what happens. Lately, however, the focus has turned to

Minutes before 10 a.m. on weekdays at the Bay Bridge toll plaza, you can find a half-dozen cars on the side of the freeway, hazard lights flashing. It isn´t a mass breakdown. It´s drivers trying to save a couple bucks by waiting until the clock ticks past 9:59 a.m. and the toll to cross the bridge drops from $6 to $4. The drivers are breaking the law and are a danger to themselves and others on the road, said Officer Sam Morgan, a California Highway Patrol spokesman. "It is not encouraged and it is a citable," Morgan said.

Talk about white smoke: I am told, by Republican sources, that President Obama got standing ovations at the beginning and end of his meeting today with House Republicans on Capitol Hill — his first such meeting in four years. There were tough questions and no breakthroughs, but a source inside the closed-door meeting called it “very cordial” and told me that virtually every House Republican who stood up to ask a question began by saying, “Thank you for coming” and “You are welcome here anytime.” Some added, “We need to work together.”

Though the Health and Human Services (HHS) mandate forcing employers to violate their conscience by providing birth control and pills that cause abortions has been temporarily stopped today in a Federal District Court, there is no question the Obama Administration will appeal all the way up to the Supreme Court. This is the fight of our time. Either this country will stand for religious freedom, or it won´t. And we will know the answer if the courts allow the government (by way of the HHS to brazenly) violate the First Amendment by

The Los Angeles Times ran a Thursday editorial by Middlebury College Professor Bill McKibben arguing that allowing millions of illegal immigrants into America will reduce global warming. “I feel it´s urgent that we get real immigration reform, allowing millions to step out of the shadows and on to a broad path toward citizenship,” wrote McKibben. “It will help, not hurt, our environmental efforts, and potentially in deep and powerful ways.” McKibben says that while the average American has a larger carbon footprint than a person living in the developing world, bringing more immigrants

On Wednesday, WA Sen. Patty Murray unveiled the first budget proposal from Senate Democrats in 4 years. Looking at the top-line numbers, it is easy to see why the Democrats were so coy with their spending plans. Virtually ignoring the debt crisis that is causing the public deep anxiety, the Democrats plan to boost spending by 62% over the next ten years. Federal spending this year will top out at $3.6 trillion. At the start of the recession in 2007, federal spending was just $2.7 trillion. Under the Democrat´s plan, however, over the next ten years spending

Before carrying out the Dec. 14 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Adam Lanza conducted research on several mass murders, sources close to the investigation into the shooting have told The Courant. The Courant had previously reported that investigators found news articles about Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik at Lanza´s Newtown home. Sources now say that investigators found articles and other documents related to other mass murders in one of two bedrooms he used in the house that he shared with his mother, Nancy. Lanza killed 26 people,

The president told Americans to gird for a disaster. Sequestration would result in unspeakable suffering. The elderly would starve; kids would miss vaccinations; teachers would be laid off; airplanes would crash mid-air due to a dearth of air traffic controllers. And don’t bother calling for help—no one’s coming thanks to massive layoffs of police and firefighters. Fast forward to today. America is still standing. The public is still waiting for the wave to hit. Now President Obama has launched a charm offensive toward the Republicans who called his alarmist bluff.

Former Frasier star Kelsey Grammer told TMZ on Tuesday that wind technology was the worst investment he’s ever made. Grammer told the tabloid that though his finances are good, he lost hundreds of thousands of dollars on a small wind investment. “I’m OK, but I didn’t make up for it. It’s just one of those things that’s just a straight loss,” he said. “You’d think it would be lucrative, but it’s not really a friendly environment for new technology, it really isn’t.” The actor has made tabloid

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said he would not include language to defund Obamacare in the continuing resolution bill when it returns to the House, stating, “our goal” is “not to shut down the government.” On Wednesday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said it is the “right position” for Republicans to take to strip Obamacare of its funding in the continuing resolution (CR), which is a “must-pass” bill to keep the government funded for the remainder of the fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30. Cruz also said that in sending the amended CR back to the lower chamber, the

Vatican City-Three rounds of ballots had been cast with no winner, but it was becoming clear which way this conclave was headed. When the cardinals broke for lunch, Sean O´Malley of Boston sat down next to his Argentine friend, Jorge Bergoglio. "He seemed very weighed down by what was happening," O´Malley said. Hours later, the Buenos Aires archbishop would step before the frenzied masses packed into St. Peter´s Square as Francis, the first pope from the Americas. President Obama´s grassroots campaign organization is pressing supporters to switch out their Facebook profile picture with a black and white gun control sign. Organizing for America is distributing the digital signs that read: "I am one of the 92 percent of Americans who support universal background checks." In an email, OFA said, "There´s another simple thing you can do right now to show the overwhelming support for universal background checks: Take this sign and put it somewhere folks will see it -- in your window, on your desk, or maybe upload it as your Facebook profile picture."

In the first personality poll taken since Sen. John McCain fired his his "wacko birds" Maverick missile at fellow Republican Sen. Rand Paul´s filibuster last week, the young turk turns out to be far more popular than his old bull critic. Rasmussen Reports reveals that 67 percent of likely GOP voters have a favorable opinion of the first-term Kentucky senator. Just 52 percent view McCain favorably, and of that just 16 percent call their opinion "very favorable," said the pollster. For Paul, it´s a nine-point, one-month surge and likely the result of his filibuster and McCain´s friendly fire.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., expressed misgivings about the efficacy of President Obama’s so-called “charm offensive,” saying that House Republicans seem “at war with [their] own government.” “By and large, the approach the Republicans take is that they are there to shrink the role of government to the point where it really recalls to mind a statement of President Washington who cautioned about a political party at war with its own government,” Pelosi told reporters today in response to a question about the charm offensive.

Just hours after his dramatic election as leader of the Catholic world, an Italian journalist in Rome said the first thing Pope Francis did was to call her up for a friendly chat. "The phone rang... My son picked it up and it was the pope," Stefania Falasca, a former editor for a Catholic monthly, told Italian media. "At home we just called him ´father´, we never called him ´eminence´. I didn´t know what to say. I asked him ´Father, what am I meant to call you? Holy Father?´" she said. "He laughed and he told me 'The first phone call I wanted to make was to say hello to you, Gianni and the kids,'" she said.

Politics: A secretary of labor´s job is to be a fair arbiter between workers and employers. But Thomas Perez, now shortlisted for the job, is so radical he makes the last labor secretary, Hilda Solis, look like Ayn Rand. Just say no. Make a list of all the most outrageous, extremist and divisive acts of the Obama administration and odds are they will intersect in the person of Assistant U.S. Attorney General Thomas Perez, who´s run the Department of Justice´s troubled civil rights division since 2009.

Religion: The change that swept Eastern Europe in the 1980s and fueled the collapse of the Soviet Union may find itself repeated by a new pope with similar disdain for the authoritarian governments of his region. When Cardinal Karol Wojtyla stepped out on the balcony of St. Peter´s in 1978 as Pope John Paul II, Soviet communism still stood astride Eastern Europe and his native Poland. He would be the moral force helping to lead half a continent out of the human bondage of totalitarianism. Argentina´s 76-year-old Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, now Pope Francis I

Shallow Waters: The commander of America´s Pacific forces says he knows what the top security risk is in that region. No, it´s not China. Nor is it North Korea. It´s climate change. Yes, this is embarrassing. It´s also an outrage. Adm. Samuel J. Locklear III´s job is to assess the military threats in the Pacific and to defend his country from them. Not to appraise the climate. Not to protect the environment. Not to join the ranks of the superficial who desperately want to demonstrate their depth and earnestness by taking up trendy and politically correct causes.

The president´s second inaugural address was an advertisement for the biggest, most expensive government the world has ever known. It was a pitch for new government solutions, more government programs, and the promises of government-made utopia. Of course, no mention was made about the future cost of the president´s vision for the country, how to pay for it, or the damage that will occur from increasing our debt. Conservatives hear this message and get pulled into a debate over the proper size of government, or whether a certain policy represents good government or bad government.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service says 660,000 taxpayers will have their refunds delayed by up to six weeks because of a problem with the software they used to file their tax returns. The delay affects people claiming education tax credits who filed returns between Feb. 14 and Feb. 22. H&R Block, the tax preparing giant, says that some of its customers were affected but the company has resolved the problem. A limited number of other software companies have also had problems, but IRS spokeswoman Michelle Eldridge declined to name them.

This week the Obama administration announced that due to the awful, terrible, nasty, horrible sequestration, they would have to shut down the White House tours for the public. The same week, a White House source told the Daily Mail that Michelle Obama was planning a birthday blowout for her 50th. In attendance: Adele and Beyonce. The White House did say that the Obamas would pay for the party. But that’s highly unlikely – it’s supposed to take place at the White House, which requires Secret Service protection, high-class dining, and all the fringe benefits. The White House website

In Toure´s defense, though, his MSNBC show doesn’t air until the afternoon, which gives Slate´s Dave Weigel an edge; an edge this fierce GOP antagonist took full advantage of on CPAC´s opening day … at 9:34 am! Congrats, Dave. Quite the work ethic: One of the first speeches at CPAC came from former Rep. Allen West, a black conservative who delighted—and delights—in telling liberals they patronize and misunderstand blacks.
