LAHORE, Pakistan –Hundreds of Christians protesting the burning of their homes by a Muslim mob over alleged blasphemous remarks made against the Islam´s Prophet Muhammad clashed with police on Sunday in eastern and southern Pakistan. Around 150 people have been arrested for setting dozens of Christian houses on fire in the eastern city of Lahore after a non-Muslim was accused of making offensive comments about the prophet, police said. Christians across the country rallied against the incident, but the main demonstrations were in Lahore, the southern port city of Karachi, the capital, Islamabad, and the adjoining city of Rawalpindi.

With sales for 2012 coming in at about 50,000, that million-car figure is a pipe dream. One creative father has used his cartoon drawing skills to bring a little humor to his children´s lunchtime sandwiches. David Laferriere has been doodling on the plastic Ziploc bags with a Sharpie marker since 2008 - before taking a quick snap of his handiwork and posting it to his Flickr account. The graphic designer has now done more than a thousand drawings which range from dinosaurs and monsters to goldfish and ducks. His children only get a look at the artwork when they open their bags later in the day. Mr Laferriere, from Attleboro, Massachusetts, explains:

The latest Republican pronouncements on saving Medicare, via Rep. Paul Ryan’s upcoming budget plan, reminds me of a Roger Rabbit cartoon -- characters careening around, some just missing the vat of acid, others not. Last year, certain Republicans told us if you were 55 or older, your Medicare benefits would be “safe,” but today’s rumors revise that age to be upward of 57. I can smell that vat of acid getting closer. But there’s a much easier way to reduce Medicare costs. Honestly, it won’t hurt a bit.

Ryan believes that he can save $770 billion over 10 years if Obamacare is repealed. All those Obamacare tax increases would be repealed too, and his proposal includes sending Medicaid block grants to states. This begs the question of where Ryan finds all those savings? Especially since without mandated insurance, there are still going to be millions of people uncovered. The uninsured aren’t going to just disappear, and there are at least 20 million of them. BEIJING - Chinese officials say they have fished out 900 dead pigs from a Shanghai river that is a water source for city residents. Officials are investigating where the pigs came from. A statement posted Saturday on the city´s Agriculture Committee´s website says they haven´t found any evidence that the pigs were dumped into the river or of any animal epidemic. The statement says the city and Songjiang district governments started retrieving the pigs on Friday night. By late Saturday afternoon they had recovered and disposed of more than 900.
