RUSH: Let´s go to the audio sound bites. I mentioned that the president is having a little trouble here with the sequester and the White House tours being shut down. In fact, in Politico there´s a story: "Now Democrat Worry: Did President Obama Cry Wolf? -- President Barack Obama hopes to spark a pitchfork revolt against Republicans over sequester-induced budget cuts -- but many Democrats fret that he’s undermined that effort with an early strategy marred by hype, poor planning and muddled messaging."

The son-in-law, Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, a former spokesman for Al Qaeda, was taken into American custody in Jordan and will appear in court in New York on Friday, one person said. He is facing numerous charges, including material support for terrorism. (Snip) Mr. Abu Ghaith’s capture is a rare recent case in which a Qaeda operative was detained overseas rather than killed.

Well, it´s three pages in Vanity Fair on my computer. The excerpt features Ailes saying, "I like Joe Biden, but he´s as dumb as an ashtray." They excerpt Zev Chafets capturing Ailes saying, "The problem with Obama is he lazy. He´s never earned a dime in his life." That really made Wolf Blitzer mad. I mean, that really made him mad. RUSH: Okay, folks, what we have here is a fascinating object lesson. What we have here is a golden opportunity. What is happening in the aftermath of the Rand Paul filibuster is very useful. This is extremely eye opening. The filibuster itself was eye opening and has its own educational aspects. But what´s happening in the aftermath is almost as intriguing to me. The way I would put it is, the establishment decided to go out to dinner last night. Obama took McCain and Lindsey Graham and

Whatever you think of the point he was trying to make--and in our case, that´s not much--there´s no denying that Sen. Rand Paul´s filibuster yesterday was quite a piece of political theater. As BuzzFeed.com reports: Paul´s nearly 13 hour long filibuster could mark a key turning point not only in the Kentucky Republican´s meteoric political career, but for a Republican Party that has struggled to find any footing since November´s electoral defeats. Fueled in large part by support from a Twitter political class that flexed its muscles on policy issues, Republicans rallied around Paul in a way that

Following an epic, old-school,13-hour filibuster of John Brennan´s confirmation to helm the CIA, the Senate nevertheless approved the nominee today by a vote of 63-34, with a number of Republicans breaking ranks to vote in his favor. Three senators who caucus with Democrats -- Sens. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. -- voted against Brennan´s confirmation, and Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., did not vote. Brennan, who has long served as the president´s top counterterrorism official, was widely expected to gain Senate approval

Let me be very clear: I did not go into medicine to decide who lives and who dies. I went into health care because I wanted to heal, to comfort, to educate and to study the illnesses that afflict my patients. And I don’t need a crystal ball to know when a patient is extremely safe or when he or she is going to die. So I am somewhat confused as to the purpose of this new ‘mortality index.’ A new study from the University of California, San Francisco with funding from the federal

In order to bridge this gap, Baum set off on a cross-country journey, chatting with everyone from a gun store owner in Louisville to a wild boar hunter in Texas to a Hollywood armorer.

Venezuela’s long, weepy goodbye to Hugo Chavez carried on Thursday as foreign heads of state — and even a delegation sent by the Obama administration — made their way to Caracas in advance of Friday’s funeral. Venezuelan authorities have not said when Chavez will be laid to rest, nor exactly where. It was just one of many uncertainties facing the country after Chavez succumbed to a long battle with cancer Tuesday at age 58, after 14 years in power. In what appeared to be a conciliatory gesture, U.S. officials said a delegation of congressional members and State Department

Why was that so hard? Only after Republican Rand Paul of Kentucky rallied public support against President Obama did the White House answer a simple and constitutionally critical question: “Does the president have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on an American soil?” Attorney General Eric Holder wrote a two-sentence letter to Paul on Thursday, saying the answer is no. White House spokesman Jay Carney added that “if the United States were under attack, there were an imminent threat,” the president has the authority

A new study claims the beloved nun might not have been as helpful to the poor as she could have been.
