The media threat to our democracy is a clear and present danger to our nation´s future. This is more than merely "A Slobbering Love Affair," as described by Jonah Goldberg in his book subtitled: The True (And Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media. No. The blind and rabid media support and political activism for their de-facto socialist party and president is the most significant contributor to our social destruction.

The Army’s 7th Armoured Brigade Headquarters will return from Germany and become part of a new infantry unit that will only be equippped with wheeled reconnaissance vehicles, the MoD admitted. The move ends the armoured role of a tank force that won fame in North Africa under General Bernard Montgomery with victories in battles including El Alamein. Tank crews fighting under the famous black and red badge also fought with distinction against Iraqi forces in both the first and second Gulf Wars. Another celebrated unit, the 4th Mechanized Brigade, known as the Black Rats, will also lose its role

Fearless swimmer Ocean Ramsey hitches a lift on the back of a GREAT WHITE SHARK. The brave beauty swam with the 17-foot beast in the waters off Baja in Mexico last year. Shark conservationist Ocean, who is also a scuba instructor, model and freediver, travels the globe swimming with many species of sharks hoping to prove they are nothing like their Jaws film reputation. In the video above, friend Juan Oliphant, captures the incredible moment the 27-year-old catches a ´tail ride´ through the deep.

Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly on Tuesday night repeatedly accused liberal radio talk show host Alan Colmes of "lying" during a heated shouting match on "The O´Reilly Factor." O’Reilly kicked off his show by saying President Barack Obama does not want to “solve the fiscal mess" and that he is too focused on flipping the Republican-held House back to the Democrats to deal with the country´s economic issues. “That is very disturbing,” O’Reilly said. Fox News contributors Colmes and Monica Crowley then stopped by to discuss the issue — and Colmes and O’Reilly quickly found themselves at odds.

Barack Obama’s position on gay marriage hasn’t so much “evolved” as revolved. In 1996, as a state Senate candidate in Illinois, he told Outlines (which became the Windy City Times), a gay magazine based on Chicago’s North Side, that he supported “legalizing same-sex marriages, and would fight any effort to prohibit such marriages.” Even some on the left acknowledge that he and his aides have been lying about his supposed evolution on gay marriage for years. “He always supported it,” David Plotz of Slate has written.

Many conservatives, myself included, find themselves in despair about the combination of Barack Obama’s reign of narcissism and the Republican opposition’s incapacities. We might take heart, however, in considering the possibility that the sandworm has begun to turn against The One. At least a few small signs indicate that Obama might have pushed his hyperactive self-regard too far. Obama’s job approval, as per Gallup, has dropped from +13 to dead even — 46-46 — in just about a week. Even the rabidly liberal Bill Keller of the New York Times is slamming Obama’s handling of the sequester.

Fox News chief Roger Ailes calls former House Speaker Newt Gingrich "a p***k" and a "sore loser" in an excerpt from a forthcoming biography by Zev Chafets, an exclusive excerpt of which has just been published in Vanity Fair. Ailes remark about Gingrich came during the 2012 campaign season when Gingrich, a former Fox News contributor, complained that the network was giving too much support to Mitt Romney. According to Chafets´ report, Ailes found the complaint self-serving and disloyal, and told his spokesman Brian Lewis to “brush [Gingrich] back." “He’s a sore loser and if he had won

In Chicago, voters are familiar with human nature. This may explain why no one believes Mayor Rahm Emanuel when he says concern for children is the motive for his promotion of anti-speeding cameras to milk money from the city´s motorists. A Chicago Tribune poll finds even those most inclined to support the cameras were cynical about Mayor Rahm´s motives: "Senior citizens and women voters were evenly split on whether they favored or opposed cameras, but they showed broad consensus that they believed Emanuel sought cameras to raise revenue, not save lives." When governments are engaged in sleazy new forms

The past couple of weeks have played out very strangely in Venezuela. In the span of a few days, we were told that Hugo Chávez was probably dead then probably not then definitely so. But where´s the body? Conspiracy theorists are going to have a ball with this. Before we start exploring the crazy world of crackpot conspiracy theories, let´s get one thing straight. Hugo Chávez is dead. He was very sick with cancer for a very long time, and despite the Venezuelan people´s holding out hope that he would recover, Chávez succumbed to his illness.

When in a hole, keep right on digging. That´s the attitude of a number of movement conservatives, who, in reaction to last year´s shellacking, seem to want to make certain they never climb out. The plan, should there be one, seems to come in three parts: First, whine, lament and rend garments in public; second, blame everyone else for your failure to win much since Reagan left office, and third, having come out of a cycle in which you lost increasing numbers of various people, do try your hardest to lose even more. As to point one, shut up, because nobody cares

In Washington, D.C., it is often necessary to restate the obvious. For that reason, I recently wrote a column for NRO explaining why conservatives should be for a strong national defense. I also pointed out one of the great ironies of the last twenty years: the bigger the federal government has become, the less well it has performed its primary constitutional function of defending the country. In particular, over the last two years, our government has cut a trillion dollars from the next ten years of defense budgets. Half of those cuts were enacted in 2011;

The sequester is only four days old and it has already done untold damage — not to teachers, air traffic controllers, or the military, mind you, but to President Obama’s credibility. Obama has been caught in one misstatement after another about the sequester — from lying to Americans about its origins to exaggerating its impact. Obama is fast becoming the president who cried “Sequester!” And the price he pays for his exaggerations will be lasting. The first untruth came on October 22, 2012, during Obama’s final debate with Mitt Romney, when Obama declared, “The sequester is not something

With African Catholic Cardinal Peter Turkson in the running as the next pope, the media have noted that he carries the fancy title of the president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, an arm of the Vatican. But they have failed to note the existence of a left-wing lobby in the U.S. working feverishly on his behalf. It is the same group of radicals, with connections to billionaire hedge-fund operator George Soros, who backed Obama for president by claiming he shared their Catholic values. One of Turkson’s chief supporters in the U.S. appears to be Stephen Schneck,

Hugo Chavez was an aspiring dictator who clamped down on civil liberties in Venezuela, spouted anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism, and grossly mismanaged his country — but such a record didn’t stop some liberals in America and abroad from mourning the demagogue’s death from cancer Tuesday. From the world of politics, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter mourned Chavez’s death in a statement, and British Member of Parliament George Galloway, who was last seen storming out of a debate in horror when he discovered he was talking to an Israeli, tweeted his condolences.

SANFORD — Trayvon Martin´s girlfriend, the state´s most important witness in the George Zimmerman murder case, was caught in a lie, it was revealed Tuesday. It was not the first piece of misinformation tied to her, but it was the most damaging to date and left prosecutors in a very awkward position. They had to publicly acknowledge that their star witness had lied under oath and had to answer questions about what they intend to do about it. Reporters asked: Will you charge the 19-year-old Miami woman with perjury? The state´s lead prosecutor, Bernie de la Rionda, gave an ambiguous answer:

The numbers are staggering. Out of 120,000 live births in New York City in 2010, more than 54,000 babies were born out of wedlock. The human toll behind the numbers is devastating. Children raised without two parents face much higher odds in every facet of life. It’s as if they are forced to swim with one hand tied behind their backs. Some succeed, most don’t. Now comes the good news. Mayor Bloomberg is trying to do something about this preventable tragedy. In a bid to further discourage teen pregnancies, City Hall is plastering a series

When 21-year-old Lauren Drain found herself in a shabby apartment in a rough part of Topeka, abandoned by her family, her mind couldn’t accept what had happened. “I truly thought my banishment would only last for a month or so,” she writes. Only when she happened upon her father in public and he refused to acknowledge her did she begin to understand that she has been completely and permanently disowned for running afoul of her church´s whims. Seven years earlier, Drain’s family had moved across the country to join the Westboro Baptist Church, the Topeka-based cult

Washington – After leaving office, President George H.W. Bush certainly had opinions about the challenges facing the nation and the politics that affected the public´s perception of the White House. As a father, Bush kept his thoughts in check even when he believed the attacks were overtly personal and painted his son, President George W. Bush, in a wrong light. "I am really down about the way the President has been attacked," Bush writes in a 2005 letter to journalist and long-time friend Hugh Sidey about the criticism directed at his son for the government´s response to Hurricane Katrina.

When Amory Gutierrez from the Pleasanton Weekly wanted to do a puff piece on the Obamas’ helicopter, “Marine One,” the White House put out the welcome mat. After all, Pleasanton is a very upscale bedroom community attached to Silicon Valley and San Francisco. Democrats outnumber Republicans there more than two to one. Gutierrez, however, did not keep to the anticipated script. Her piece gushed over the helicopter flown by a Marine crew, but then went on to repeat what the Marines had told her. In nearly four years of flying the Obamas,

America’s largest gathering of conservative leaders and activists to be held Thursday, March 14 – Saturday, March 16, 2013. “Donald Trump is an American patriot and success story with a massive following among small government conservatives,”

VARESE, Italy -- To illustrate that life is a journey, one of the Italian cardinals touted as a favorite to be the next pope doesn´t just turn to the Scriptures - but also to Jack Kerouac and Cormac McCarthy. Angelo Scola, the archbishop of Milan, is seen as Italy´s best chance at reclaiming the papacy, following back-to-back popes from outside the country that had a lock on the job for centuries. For one night last month, during the historic week that saw the shock resignation announcement of Pope Benedict XVI, Scola came across as a simple pastor leading a flock

They are known as the ships of the desert which makes it all the more surprising that the remains of a giant camel have been discovered in the high arctic. Bone fragments of the shaggy creature were found on Canada’s Ellesmere Island--the furthest north the species has ever been discovered. They reveal that the creature must have roamed the frozen northern forests around 3.5 million years ago and that it was 30 per cent larger than its modern counterparts. Although the region where the fragments were found would have been between 14C to 22C warmer than today, the land

Poor Joe Kennedy, mourning the loss of his grand amigo, “El Comandante,” the tinpot Latin American thug who put the “profit” back in “non-profit” for the Kennedy kleptocracy. How can Hugo be dead, Joe? He went to Cuba for medical treatment. They took him straight to the hospital from the airport in a DeSoto ambulance. Let’s go right to the Joe K press release: “President Chavez cared deeply about the poor … while some of the wealthiest people on our planet have more money than they can ever reasonably expect to spend.”

Less than a week after America introduced its first major spending cuts since the financial crisis, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has swept to a record high. The gap in mood between Washington and Wall Street has left many scratching their heads. Home to companies including Coca-Cola, IBM and Pfizer, the Dow has more than doubled since plummetting to 6,547.05 almost four years ago. Those investors who have enjoyed the rally have at least three factors to be grateful for. The first is evidence that the world´s largest economy is at least sustaining its momentum even as the US

Figures unearthed by the Tory MP Dominic Raab show that more than half a million unemployed EU citizens claim benefits in Britain, of whom 140,000 have never worked. Whether or not the welfare system acts as a magnet for immigration, how can it be right that people who have made no contribution to this country should receive its largesse?[Snip] Following the Tories’ third place in last week’s Eastleigh by-election, ministers have said they want to restrict access of foreign nationals to benefit payments, social housing and the NHS without proper entitlement. But how is this to be achieved?

Raleigh, N.C. - In a move some are calling a modern-day scarlet letter and others say is the best way to manage changing federal immigration policy, North Carolina this month will begin giving some young immigrants driver’s licenses marked with a bold pink stripe and the words “no lawful status” printed in red. (Snip) Under the program, young people who qualify receive deferrals from deportation for two years. They are no longer illegal, but they do not become fully legal either. While the program allows them work permits, many still need to drive to their jobs. So in January, the federal agency that administers
