Bye bye Walter Cronkite, Brian Williams and Scott Pelley. Hello Google, Yahoo and Drudge. A new Rasmussen Reports poll finds that traditional network news continues to fall as the nation´s source for news. The internet now is a bigger source of news for Americans than network TV, by a point, 25 percent to 24 percent. Cable TV is still king, with 32 percent of the 1,000 likely voters Rasmussen polled getting their news from that source. Newspapers barely register a 10 percent, and radio is the source of news for 7 percent of the country.

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: A lot of people disagree on what to do about the 11 million illegal aliens in the country, but I don´t think anybody wants to empty the prisons of people who jumped the border and are being held. We don´t really know how they´re going to act. I think it´s laughable to assume they are going to show up under this alternate status, you know, and act like good citizens. Here are people who on multiple occasions have cross the border. Which means every time they are deported across

MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell weighed in on the Obama administration’s recent aggressive pushback against famous journalist Bob Woodward of the Washington Post. “The bottom line, is the White House has to be able to take criticism and not be so aggressive in pushing back,” Mitchell explained on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. “Because, in fact, frankly there isn’t enough tough reporting in Washington these days.”

As we reported on Tuesday, eclectic former basketball star Dennis Rodman visited North Korea as part of a VICE series on the NBA wildman and members of the Harlem Globetrotters running a basketball camp for local youth. As it turns out, Rodman also got to meet with the nation’s “Supreme Leader” (read: dictator) Kim Jong-un, and reportedly told him: “You have a friend for life.” Rodman apparently made the comment before a crowd of thousands, after sitting and chatting with Kim during an exhibition game between two mixed teams in Pyongyang.

VATICAN CITY - Pope Benedict left the Vatican on Thursday after pledging unconditional obedience to whoever succeeds him to guide the Roman Catholic Church at one of the most crisis-ridden periods in its 2,000-year history. [Snip] Bells rang out from St Peter´s Basilica and churches all over Rome as the helicopter circled Vatican City and flew over the Colosseum and other landmarks to give the pontiff one last view of the city where he is also bishop.

The US soldier accused of leaking large amounts of secret data to Wikileaks has pleaded guilty to a series of 10 lesser charges, US media report. But Pfc Bradley Manning, 25, may still be prosecuted for the most serious charge against him, aiding the enemy. A military judge will now decide whether to accept the guilty plea, and will allow him to read a statement. Pfc Manning last spoke in court in November about his treatment in Kuwait and in the US after his arrest. He described being locked up alone for 23 hours a day in a small cell

Concerns about the environment have reached a two-decade low since the start of the financial crisis, a global survey has revealed. Fewer people now consider pollution, species loss and fresh water shortages to be ´very serious´ problems than at any time since tracking began 20 years ago. Fears over global warming are far lower than they were between 20003 and 2008, with less than one person in two regarding it as ´very serious´. Concern about air and water pollution, as well as biodiversity, is significantly below where it was even in the Nineties, found the poll of more than 22,000

So Bob Woodward says he was threatened by …. Gene Sperling. I guess I’m just off the reservation on this whole thing. Now, I think Woodward’s reporting is trustworthy — on this (I don’t always take his version of events as gospel. See Bill Casey’s deathbed confession). But the “threat” thing strikes me as exaggerated. I expressed this view last night on twitter and a lot of friends on the right leapt to defend Woodward’s interpretation. “He’s been around, he knows what a threat looks like” seemed to be the general attitude.

NOTE: This post will be continually updated… Also, I´m not including open partisans in this list, like Josh Marshal of Talking Points Memo. Those listed below pose as "objective" journalists. The media stands by its own, at least until one of its own upsets The Narrative. Not even a living legend is immune from this rule. In the case of Bob Woodward, his detailed and lengthy reporting on sequester has resulted in the possible derailing of the most crucial Narrative the White House and media are likely to launch this year.

Organizing for Action, the purported "issues advocacy" social welfare organization established in January, sent out a campaign-style email on Wednesday to an extensive email list of Obama supporters developed by its predecessor organization, the Obama for America presidential campaign committee, attacking congressional Republicans. The email pushes the boundaries of the standard that defines allowable communications that can be sent out by "issues advocacy" social welfare non-profit groups organized under Section 501(c)4 of the Internal Revenue code. In effect, Wednesday´s OFA email constitutes one of the first campaign

After reviewing new information released by the White House on Feb. 26--information intended to put some distance between CIA Director nominee John Brennan and the Benghazi attacks--many Republican Senators are now persuaded that Brennan may have had a role in crafting the talking points to describe Benghazi as a protest gone bad. After seeing the information, Senate Intelligence Committee Vice-Chairman Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) said simply: "Brennan was involved." And Senator James Risch (R-ID), said the new information "did not alleviate [his] concerns" in the slightest. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Susan Collins (R-ME) both expressed similar concerns.

Breitbart News has learned exclusively that Clint Eastwood has signed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court, supporting the right of same-sex couples to marry. The brief, which will be released later this evening, has signatures from more than 100 Republican and conservative activists. It involves the case before the Supreme Court, seeking to overturn CA´s Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in the state. A well-placed GOP source provided Breitbart News with an early glimpse of the brief. Whether same-sex couples should have access to civil marriage divides thoughtful, concerned citizens.

First Lady Michelle Obama is continuing her road trip celebrating the 3rd anniversary of her “Let´s Move” initiative, appearing on Good Morning America with Robin Roberts on Tuesday and at an event with Rachael Ray on Wednesday. The initial press release last week gave “Let´s Move” credit for halting and even reversing the childhood obesity trend of the last thirty years, though the White House did not provide data to back up its claim. Now, a new White House press release links to a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation report to bolster its claims, but

Late Wednesday, the Obama administration awarded an aviation contract to Brazil-based Embraer. The contract is for a fleet of Light Air Support (LAS) aircraft that will be used by the nascent Afghan air force in its fight against the Taliban. Two firms vied for the contract, Embraer and Hawker Beechcraft, which is based in Wichita, KS. The contracting process was plagued with bias against Hawker, which has yet to be accounted for or explained. The Obama administration’s decision sends most of the 1,400 jobs the contract will create out of the United States to Brazil, and to

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is among the "munchkin" Republicans who are afraid of alienating women by opposing reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, conservative talk-radio host Mark Levin said Wednesday night. Levin blasted Cantor for "going to war" with conservatives by pressing them to support the Democrats´ version of the bill. ""Mr.Cantor, I hate to tell you this: We´re already in political war with you," Levin said. "I mean Eric Cantor is the number-two Republican in the House," Levin said. "He´s the majority leader because we, the conservatives,

The House Republican leadership has scheduled a floor vote on Thursday on a Senate version of the Violence Against Women Act that, if enacted, would strip constitutional rights from Americans prosecuted by Indian tribes for alleged acts of domestic violence. The bill was sponsored by Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, and opposed by the conservative bloc in the Republican Senate Conference--as well as by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, the senior Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Senate conservatives Ted Cruz of Texas, Mike Lee

Gabrielle Nestande, a former legislative aide in the Texas House of Representatives, faced a public-relations nightmare when standing trial for drunken driving and a fatal hit-and-run in Austin, Texas. The 25-year-old was privileged, wealthy, and a Republican. Blonde and preppy looking, the Baylor University graduate thus became red meat for the trial-watching mob and prosecutors in Austin -- a politically liberal mecca in a conservative red state. She became, in Tom Wolfe´s words from Bonfire of the Vanities, Austin´s own Great White Defendant. Many wanted the native Californian´s head because of who she was

Citing an immediate public health threat, the city of Los Angeles will ask the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday to overturn a lower-court ruling preventing the random seizure and destruction of belongings that homeless people leave temporarily unattended on public sidewalks. If the court takes up the matter, the case could have broad implications for cities nationwide grappling with how to keep streets clean and safe while respecting the property rights of those who live there. Fresno faces more than 30 lawsuits arising from its efforts to clean up downtown homeless encampments.

In one of the most politically despicable moves ever perpetrated by a sitting administration, federal immigration officials have released hundreds of illegal aliens from prison in anticipation of budget cuts produced by the sequester. “As fiscal uncertainty remains over the continuing resolution and possible sequestration, ICE has reviewed its detained population to ensure detention levels stay within ICE’s current budget,” said agency spokeswoman Gillian M. Christensen in a statement. Immigration officials further warned that even more releases are possible, if the anticipated cuts are

Lott’s previous appearances on the show have been nothing short of explosive, and this appearance was no different, with Lott growing increasingly frustrated with Morgan talking over him, and Morgan shouting over him and telling Lott, “I’m going to keep talking, so I suggest you keep quiet.” Morgan confronted Lott with statistic showing more than half of all mass shooters in from 1982 to 2012 used either high-capacity magazines, assault weapons,

POLITICO’s “Behind the Curtain” column last night quoted Bob Woodward as saying that a senior White House official has told him in an email he would “regret” questioning White House statements on the origins of sequestration. The official in question is Gene Sperling, economic adviser to the president. The White House has since pushed back, saying the exchange was far more innocuous than Woodward claims. We have obtained, exclusively, the exchange. Here it is: From Gene Sperling to Bob Woodward on Feb. 22, 2013 -Bob: I apologize for raising my voice in our conversation today. My bad.

There’s nothing like losing a war to destroy morale. The Republican defeats in 2008 and 2012 have convinced much of its leadership that the future lies with the left. They are not debating whether to concede defeat, but which territories of principle to surrender. These political Darwins are frantically rooting through the Democratic trash cans in search of new evolutionary pathways. Amnesty is being railroaded through in the middle of the night. Some call for abandoning social conservatism. Others call for abandoning fiscal conservatism.

Like the little boy who cried wolf, the White House has decided that if there isn’t a crisis, you can create one and take advantage of it. That sums up President Obama’s approach to the looming sequestration. To hear Mr. Obama describe it, one might be led to believe that come Saturday, America will be in an episode of “Survivor” — without teachers, firefighters, air-traffic controllers, etc. The president’s antics might make for funny reality TV, but the underlying scare tactics belie reality and are truly beneath the dignity of a serious debate. Mr. President, whether you padlock

Europe: Italy´s inconclusive election brought out some flamboyant new and old players, all of whom campaigned against the current austerity regime. We don´t see that as a bumpy ride, or a new style of politics. We see decline. The closest thing Europe´s third-largest economy had to a fighting chance out of its morass was to retain the government of Mario Monti, whose caretaker government tried to balance the budget through tough fiscal means — hiking taxes, privatizing state-owned enterprises, and firing at least some of the country´s abundant bureaucrats. It´s the nasty medicine of austerity,
