After reviewing new information released by the White House on Feb. 26--information intended to put some distance between CIA Director nominee John Brennan and the Benghazi attacks--many Republican Senators are now persuaded that Brennan may have had a role in crafting the talking points to describe Benghazi as a protest gone bad. After seeing the information, Senate Intelligence Committee Vice-Chairman Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) said simply: "Brennan was involved." And Senator James Risch (R-ID), said the new information "did not alleviate [his] concerns" in the slightest. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Susan Collins (R-ME) both expressed similar concerns.

Breitbart News has learned exclusively that Clint Eastwood has signed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court, supporting the right of same-sex couples to marry. The brief, which will be released later this evening, has signatures from more than 100 Republican and conservative activists. It involves the case before the Supreme Court, seeking to overturn CA´s Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in the state. A well-placed GOP source provided Breitbart News with an early glimpse of the brief. Whether same-sex couples should have access to civil marriage divides thoughtful, concerned citizens.

First Lady Michelle Obama is continuing her road trip celebrating the 3rd anniversary of her “Let´s Move” initiative, appearing on Good Morning America with Robin Roberts on Tuesday and at an event with Rachael Ray on Wednesday. The initial press release last week gave “Let´s Move” credit for halting and even reversing the childhood obesity trend of the last thirty years, though the White House did not provide data to back up its claim. Now, a new White House press release links to a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation report to bolster its claims, but

Late Wednesday, the Obama administration awarded an aviation contract to Brazil-based Embraer. The contract is for a fleet of Light Air Support (LAS) aircraft that will be used by the nascent Afghan air force in its fight against the Taliban. Two firms vied for the contract, Embraer and Hawker Beechcraft, which is based in Wichita, KS. The contracting process was plagued with bias against Hawker, which has yet to be accounted for or explained. The Obama administration’s decision sends most of the 1,400 jobs the contract will create out of the United States to Brazil, and to

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is among the "munchkin" Republicans who are afraid of alienating women by opposing reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, conservative talk-radio host Mark Levin said Wednesday night. Levin blasted Cantor for "going to war" with conservatives by pressing them to support the Democrats´ version of the bill. ""Mr.Cantor, I hate to tell you this: We´re already in political war with you," Levin said. "I mean Eric Cantor is the number-two Republican in the House," Levin said. "He´s the majority leader because we, the conservatives,

The House Republican leadership has scheduled a floor vote on Thursday on a Senate version of the Violence Against Women Act that, if enacted, would strip constitutional rights from Americans prosecuted by Indian tribes for alleged acts of domestic violence. The bill was sponsored by Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, and opposed by the conservative bloc in the Republican Senate Conference--as well as by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, the senior Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Senate conservatives Ted Cruz of Texas, Mike Lee

Gabrielle Nestande, a former legislative aide in the Texas House of Representatives, faced a public-relations nightmare when standing trial for drunken driving and a fatal hit-and-run in Austin, Texas. The 25-year-old was privileged, wealthy, and a Republican. Blonde and preppy looking, the Baylor University graduate thus became red meat for the trial-watching mob and prosecutors in Austin -- a politically liberal mecca in a conservative red state. She became, in Tom Wolfe´s words from Bonfire of the Vanities, Austin´s own Great White Defendant. Many wanted the native Californian´s head because of who she was

Citing an immediate public health threat, the city of Los Angeles will ask the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday to overturn a lower-court ruling preventing the random seizure and destruction of belongings that homeless people leave temporarily unattended on public sidewalks. If the court takes up the matter, the case could have broad implications for cities nationwide grappling with how to keep streets clean and safe while respecting the property rights of those who live there. Fresno faces more than 30 lawsuits arising from its efforts to clean up downtown homeless encampments.

In one of the most politically despicable moves ever perpetrated by a sitting administration, federal immigration officials have released hundreds of illegal aliens from prison in anticipation of budget cuts produced by the sequester. “As fiscal uncertainty remains over the continuing resolution and possible sequestration, ICE has reviewed its detained population to ensure detention levels stay within ICE’s current budget,” said agency spokeswoman Gillian M. Christensen in a statement. Immigration officials further warned that even more releases are possible, if the anticipated cuts are

Piers Morgan faced off once again with gun rights advocate John Lott Jr. tonight. Lott’s previous appearances on the show have been nothing short of explosive, and this appearance was no different, with Lott growing increasingly frustrated with Morgan talking over him, and Morgan shouting over him and telling Lott, “I’m going to keep talking, so I suggest you keep quiet.” Morgan confronted Lott with statistic showing more than half of all mass shooters in from 1982 to 2012 used either high-capacity magazines, assault weapons,

POLITICO’s “Behind the Curtain” column last night quoted Bob Woodward as saying that a senior White House official has told him in an email he would “regret” questioning White House statements on the origins of sequestration. The official in question is Gene Sperling, economic adviser to the president. The White House has since pushed back, saying the exchange was far more innocuous than Woodward claims. We have obtained, exclusively, the exchange. Here it is: From Gene Sperling to Bob Woodward on Feb. 22, 2013 -Bob: I apologize for raising my voice in our conversation today. My bad.

There’s nothing like losing a war to destroy morale. The Republican defeats in 2008 and 2012 have convinced much of its leadership that the future lies with the left. They are not debating whether to concede defeat, but which territories of principle to surrender. These political Darwins are frantically rooting through the Democratic trash cans in search of new evolutionary pathways. Amnesty is being railroaded through in the middle of the night. Some call for abandoning social conservatism. Others call for abandoning fiscal conservatism.

Like the little boy who cried wolf, the White House has decided that if there isn’t a crisis, you can create one and take advantage of it. That sums up President Obama’s approach to the looming sequestration. To hear Mr. Obama describe it, one might be led to believe that come Saturday, America will be in an episode of “Survivor” — without teachers, firefighters, air-traffic controllers, etc. The president’s antics might make for funny reality TV, but the underlying scare tactics belie reality and are truly beneath the dignity of a serious debate. Mr. President, whether you padlock

Europe: Italy´s inconclusive election brought out some flamboyant new and old players, all of whom campaigned against the current austerity regime. We don´t see that as a bumpy ride, or a new style of politics. We see decline. The closest thing Europe´s third-largest economy had to a fighting chance out of its morass was to retain the government of Mario Monti, whose caretaker government tried to balance the budget through tough fiscal means — hiking taxes, privatizing state-owned enterprises, and firing at least some of the country´s abundant bureaucrats. It´s the nasty medicine of austerity,

New York may have some of the toughest gun-control laws in the nation, but at least one government official is scurrying to carve out legislative exemptions for Hollywood to ensure the new crackdowns don’t tie the hands of moviemakers. Gov. Andrew Cuomo is pushing to revise a January gun law so that moviemakers and Hollywood executives could still use real weapons, rather than fake ones, in their shots — even in scenes that take place on public streets, Fox News reports. The guns could not contain real ammunition, however.

As sequestration D-Day approaches courtesy of President Barack Obama, nicknamed “President Armageddon” by the Wall Street Journal, to be followed in a month by the debt-ceiling deadline, it’s important to understand just how completely the nation’s establishment press has not only abandoned its obligations in ways our Founders never anticipated, but has also chosen to become a team of de facto presidential advisers. The first clue I detected as to what’s really happening was Jim VandeHei’s and Mike Allen’s horrific exercise in deceptive self-pity (“Obama, the puppet master”) at Politico on February 18.

No, this isn´t another one of those space telescope shots of distant star clusters whose light has been traveling toward Earth for millions of light-years ever since Larry King´s birth. This photo is actually taken back down at Earth, by an Infrared Imaging Suite. It´s aboard the NPP satellite whose fiery, night-time launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base we described here 16 months ago. From 521 miles high the two-ton satellite flashes around the globe photographing every square inch of the planet every day, creating a digitalized history of the globe´s environment for future scientists to compare with theirs.

WASHINGTON — Democratic Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke told The Daily Caller that “no additional enforcement” is needed on the Southwest border, despite the U.S.-Mexico border remaining the “primary gateway” for moving illegal drugs into the U.S. “Because we no longer have an active metric from DHS and border security can mean different things to different people, I just want to point to the facts. The safest cities in America are along the border. The border is safer than the rest of the country,” O’Rourke told TheDC Wednesday after a Border Advocacy Day event where participants argued

Vice President Joe Biden is amazed when whites try to act like they know what blacks have been through, but given a chance this week to brag on his part to end Jim Crow laws, he bit: he helped to desegregate movie theaters as a kid. Biden, who grew up in Pennsylvania and Delaware, hosted an event at the Naval Observatory vice presidential residence Wednesday night to celebrate Black History Month. After being introduced by Georgia Democratic Rep. John Lewis, one of the original 13 Freedom Riders attacked by the Ku Klux Klan, the vice president

This has not been a good week for President Obama’s campaign to use $44 billion in automatic spending cuts as leverage to force Republicans to vote for higher taxes. First, legendary journalist Bob Woodward dismantled the White House’s account of how the sequester was created. Now, Woodward is telling Politico that the White House responded by threatening him if he went forward with his claim. Then Education Secretary Arne Duncan was caught in a baldfaced lie about the sequester causing teacher layoffs. On Face the Nation last Sunday Duncan told CBS, “As many as 40,000 teachers could lose

New Yorkers who want to be naked at the beach this summer might want to head to New Jersey. The last major sanctuary in the state to frolic in the ocean without a swimsuit, Lighthouse Beach on Fire Island, will begin enforcing a state ban on nudity. “Twenty years ago, people would go down there to sunbathe,” said Lena Koschmann, the chief ranger of Fire Island National Seashore, a unit of the National Park Service. “Fast forward to today. You have thousands of people and you have more of a party atmosphere. There has also been an increase

Its history dates back to one of America’s founding fathers, when George Washington selected the location for the White House, and in the two centuries it’s been in existence, the People’s House has boarded every president save the Father of His Country. But during the Great Depression and in the two world wars, the annual budget for repairing the White House was drastically cut and ideas of renovation pushed to the back burner, meaning that all but the most simple patch-ups were ignored. During the Truman presidency, a near gut-renovation was deemed a necessity,
