Obama Caught Lying
about Sequester
National Review Online, by Deroy Murdock    Original Article

Here is one thing that Obama should do to elevate America’s public discourse: Stop lying. Obama has been caught red-handed lying about the sequester, the $85 billion in automatic budget cuts that commence Friday, unless Congress panics and scuttles this 2.4 percent reduction in Washington’s heroin-strength spending addiction. “The sequester is not something that I’ve proposed,” Obama said in his October 22, 2012, debate with GOP nominee Mitt Romney. “It is something that Congress has proposed.” “Congress didn’t compromise,” Obama whined on February 19

Almost daily we witness things that make no sense. A few examples, from the profound to the trivial.Rich Without Being Rich-The president, as is his wont, blasted the “one percent,” the “millionaires and billionaires,” and the “well-connected” in his recent State of the Union speech — and then he flew off to golf and hang out with the one percent of the one percent in South Florida while his wife and kids jetted to Aspen to ski. Then Obama flew back for more class-warfare rhetoric over so-called sequestration, ridiculing the Republicans as again being for the “rich”

A sharply divided Senate is scheduled to cast a final vote on the contested nomination of secretary of defense nominee Chuck Hagel Tuesday, ending a months-long battle that has centered on the nominee’s controversial past statements. Hagel, a former Republican Nebraska senator, faced criticism from Republicans and some Democrats immediately following his nomination by the president last month. Critics have accused Hagel of being anti-Semitic, overtly hostile to Israel, and cozy with Iran’s ruling regime, which has endorsed him.

In The K-12 Implosion, an Encounter books "broadside", I suggest that public education may be in trouble. (Snip) It seems that teachers -- overwhelmingly female -- just might be prejudiced against boys and it´s hurting their grades. Stereotyped as "naughty," boys quickly learn that they are thought of as dumber and more trouble than girls. And that has consequences. "When boys aged seven to eight were told that they tend to do worse at school than girls, they scored more poorly in reading, writing and mathematics tests than those who were not primed for failure.

During President Barack Obama´s meeting with U.S. governors at the White House Monday, the president dismissed members of the press to hold a private, hourlong discussion with the visiting state executives. Whatever was said after the cameras left the room especially incensed South Carolina Republican Gov. Nikki Haley. (Snip) She said that when she asked Obama if he would consider a last-minute plan to shave about 2 percent from the annual federal budget without increasing taxes, the answer was "no." "My kids could go and find $83 billion out of a $4 trillion budget," Haley said. "This is not

Ya gotta love the sequester. One thing you learn early in this business is that the rare occasion when something good comes out of Washington it is always for the wrong reason. In a classic Seinfeld episode, a store manager politely tells Jerry that company protocol does not list “spite” as a valid basis for returning an item. (Snip) When President Obama derisively, haughtily, sneeringly, mockingly said in an election debate the sequester is “not going to happen,” a bunch of guys with the power to make it happen said to their TVs, “Oh, yeah?”

Obama´s gun strategy

President Barack Obama’s legislative strategy for gun control may be the reason he gets no deal at all. Obama’s team has been working a delicate inside game to reach out to otherwise combative Senate Republicans: The White House conveys messages to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who develops strategy with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), the gun-friendly moderate who is tasked with whipping GOP support. But as things often go in Washington, the last step is the hardest — and is beginning to seem impossible. The group has reached a breaking point over how to address records of private sales receipts,

Texas Congressman Steve Stockman has blown the whistle on President Obama’s anti-gun Twitter campaign. Stockman says that hardly any of Obama’s anti-gun tweets come from actual human beings, while most are computer-generated spam: “Obama’s anti-gun campaign is a fraud,” Stockman said. … Stockman said that in response to Obama’s call for people to tweet their congressman in support of gun control legislation, he received just 16 tweets. But he said all of these messages were identical, and that a closer look at them revealed that only six were from real people.

The first became clear with the release of the minutes from the most recent meeting of the Fed. The days of expansive monetary policy and low interest rates are numbered. Fox News political analyst and “Special Report” panelist Juan Williams said in an interview with The Daily Caller’s Ginni Thomas that mainstream media outlets “stab” and “kill” dissenting voices. Williams was fired from National Public Radio in 2010 after saying he sometimes gets “nervous” when seated on an airplane with Muslims, while making a broader point about the importance of religious tolerance. “I always thought it was the Archie Bunkers of the world, the right-wingers of world, who were more resistant and more closed-minded about hearing the other side,” he said.

All throughout the 2012 presidential campaign season, we heard complaints from those covering the election about how nasty and trivial the campaign had become. It would often be compared wistfully to a bygone era of American politics before social media brought the twin plagues of pettiness and excessive informality on the unsuspecting American voter. And while it can be fun to take a stroll down memory lane, the youthful political press is indulging its nostalgia in an odd way: by reprising the 2008 election. At least that’s the impression one gets reading the coverage of Hillary Clinton’s effect

In the movie “Lawrence of Arabia,” the attempt to unite the Arabs comes apart in Damascus. Lawrence bangs on his desk with the butt of his gun to bring the assembly to order, but to no avail. Chaos erupts. Now something similar is happening in Syria. A mountain of dead (70,000 or so), not to mention an approaching regional blood bath, suggests that once again things are coming apart. Still, life does not exactly imitate art. Lawrence of Arabia at least tried to do something. Barack of D.C. just sat on his hands. Actually, he sat on his polling numbers.

Republicans are terribly confused over illegal immigration. They still can’t quite figure out its role in the last election. Did the issue lose them the Latino vote? Maybe — but why did they also forfeit the Asian vote, and by nearly the same margin? Why did the caricature of Republicans as old white nativists resonate with Asians as well? If support for closing the border and refusing amnesty lost Republicans the election, why do a majority of Americans continue to poll in opposition to any sort of collective amnesty? And why, in some polls,

MUCH OF WHAT President Obama hopes to accomplish in his second term would tap into what’s known as the “discretionary budget” — money not already claimed by entitlement programs such as Medicare and Social Security. But the discretionary budget itself is about tapped out, squeezed by the growth of entitlement spending. That’s what makes the minimal presidential leadership on entitlement reform so baffling. (Snip)From the start, and increasingly in his second term, Mr. Obama has presented entitlement reform as something he would do grudgingly, as a favor to the opposition, when he should be explaining to the American people —

Pakistani national Shahawar Matin Siraj and a friend, Irish-Egyptian-American James Elshafay, went to the Herald Square subway station on 34th Street in New York City on August 21, 2004, shortly before the quadrennial Republican National Convention was scheduled to begin nearby. Siraj and Elshafay were no ordinary commuters. They wanted to determine, as precisely as possible, the exact location on the subway platform where a bomb would inflict the maximum amount of damage. They even made diagrams of the station outlining their murderous designs. Yet the plot, thank Allah, never made it past the planning stage.

Hey, Oscar: We saw your boob last night. His name is Seth MacFarlane. MacFarlane’s tone-deaf, unfunny, sexist, puerile, straight-from-the-ninth-grade-locker-room “We Saw Your Boobs” routine about nekkid actresses was lower than a cockroach’s pedicure. Charlize Theron’s pained reaction shot (which was part of the act, but fitting anyway) spoke for the world: Several of the actresses MacFarlane mocked were shown in rape scenes. Jennifer Lawrence, you weren’t the first to fall on your face last night. And the burst bathroom pipe backstage wasn’t the only thing stinking up the place.

Betances is the top-shelf race hustler who receives your hard-earned tax dollars to go inside federal agencies in Washington, D.C., and teach government workers that America is a racist country. Judicial Watch obtained records of one of his looney talks at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. There are almost 40 featured speakers at next month’s Conservative Political Action Conference, but one of the most popular Republican governors in the country has yet to receive an invite. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is “not being invited” to CPAC, according to a source close to the event who was not authorized to speak publicly. The source would not answer why Christie, who is widely thought to be interested in the 2016 presidential race, would not be invited to the confab of conservative activists. WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama and his officials are doing their best to drum up public concern over the shock wave of spending cuts that could strike the government in just days. So it´s a good time to be alert for sky-is-falling hype. Over the last week or so, administration officials have come forward with a grim compendium of jobs to be lost, services to be denied or delayed, military defenses to be let down and important operations to be disrupted. Obama´s new chief of staff, Denis McDonough, spoke of a "devastating list of horribles."
