Beijing - China and Japan engaged on Friday in a fresh round of invective over military movements near a disputed group of uninhabited islands, fuelling tension that for months has bedeviled relations between the Asian powers. An increasingly muscular China has been repeatedly at odds with others in the region over rival claims to small clusters of islands, most recently with fellow economic giant Japan which accused a Chinese navy vessel of locking radar normally used to aim weapons on a Japanese naval ship in the East China Sea. China´s Defence Ministry rejected Japan´s complaint about the radar,

And they say golf is a relaxing sport. You may have a hard time selling that notion to Chris Berman – and Condoleezza Rice´s gallery victim - at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am´s opening round Thursday. Berman, the long-time ESPN anchor famous for his catch phrases and nicknames, had a less-than-memorable experience at one greenside sand trap where he spent so much time in the sand trying to chip his way out of the bunker that he should have pulled up a beach chair and ordered a couple of cold adult beverages of his choice.

Think voter fraud doesn´t exist? Think it doesn´t matter in states like, oh I don´t know...Ohio? Think again. More from John Fund: The Hamilton County Board of Elections is investigating 19 possible cases of alleged voter fraud that occurred when Ohio was a focal point of the 2012 presidential election. A total of 19 voters and nine witnesses are part of the probe. Democrat Melowese Richardson has been an official poll worker for the last quarter century and registered thousands of people to vote last year. She candidly admitted to Cincinnati’s Channel 9 this week that she voted twice

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Friday he fully supports President Obama’s position on carrying out drone strikes on American citizens abroad who are affiliated with terror groups. “I fully support targeted operations that have been carried out,” King said. “I think the president has done the right thing.” King suggested the operations are a necessity of war, and the the issue has been overblown. “I’m not trying to minimize this, but I think there’s been a lot of liberal hand-wringing going on,” he said. King cited the Civil War, noting that the soldiers who

Congress will hear from an illegal immigrant activist and an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent prohibited from arresting him. The agent testified last week that officers routinely face disciplinary action for making arrests because “ICE’s mission now is to identify aliens and release them,” according to ICE supervisors. “As a general rule, if ICE agents or officers are on duty in a public place and witness a violation of an immigration law, they are prohibited from making arrests and from asking questions under threat of disciplinary action,” ICE union head Chris Crane told the House Judiciary Committee,

American Legion National Commander James E. Koutz criticized President Barack Obama’s proposal for immigration reform, calling it a “bad sequel” to the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. “‘A bad sequel’ is how American Legion National Commander James E. Koutz described President Obama’s proposal to grant amnesty to people who are in the United States illegally,” according to an American Legion press release from Jan. 30. “Whether it’s called ‘Pathway to Citizenship’ or some other euphemism, it’s still amnesty,” said Koutz. “It didn’t work when President Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control

Federal agents arrested a California man this morning in a terror sting after he allegedly tried to detonate a car bomb at an Oakland bank as part of a Taliban plot. The FBI said the explosive device that Matthew Aaron Llaneza, 28, of San Jose tried to use was not operable and posed no threat, and that Llaneza´s Taliban contact was actually an undercover agent. According to authorities, in November Llaneza met with a man he believed was linked to the Taliban and the mujahideen in Afghanistan.

President Obama is poised to sign off on a new internal review of U.S. nuclear weapons strategy that would reduce the arsenal by one-third, resulting in billions in savings to the Pentagon and Energy Department. The recommended reductions were included in a draft version of a classified decision directive compiled by top defense and national security officials inside the White House, according to a report by the Center for Public Integrity issued Friday. While the president has yet to officially approve the directive, including the recommended one-third cut to the nuclear arsenal, sources tell CPI Obama has

The White House warned Friday that allowing the $85 billion sequester to happen would devastate the economy and disrupt the everyday lives of millions of people. In a move intended to intensify pressure on Congress to prevent looming spending cuts set for March 1, White House officials told reporters the cuts would hamper law enforcement, hurt federal education programs, withhold mental health services and furlough thousands of workers. The officials also said there would be nothing they could do to soften the pain if the sequester happens.

A federal advisory committee appointed by the Obama administration to produce a report on climate change says that if Earth’s climate were still “primarily controlled by natural factors”—rather than by man-made global warming—then the next ice age would occur within the next 1,500 years. But now, because of humans, the committee says, the next ice age has been "delayed indefinitely." “Confirmation of what are called Milankovich cycles (cyclical changes in the Earth’s orbit that explain the onset and ending of ice ages) led

Dr. Carson often criticized Obamacare and government intrusion in healthcare while President Obama sat in the audience. Dr. Carson encouraged a program where newborn babies are given health savings account as an alternative to Obamacare. (Snip)DR. CARSON: Here´s my solution: When a person is born, give him a birth certificate, an electronic medical record, and a health savings account to which money can be contributed -- pretax -- from the time you´re born ´til the time you die.

The Atlantic Council on Friday released a list of its foreign donors after Republicans demanded the financial information from Defense secretary nominee Chuck Hagel, who is chairman of the think tank. The Atlantic Council’s president and CEO sent a seven-page letter to Hagel Friday that included the list of foreign corporations, governments and government entities that fund the organization. The list includes roughly 100 corporations and 15 foreign governments, as well as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The amount of funding from each entity is not listed. It’s unclear whether the information will satisfy Republican demands.

In 2008, I was a 21-year old college junior and first-time voter. At the time, I had an opportunity to shake then-Sen. Barack Obama’s hand as he marched out from the student center at Georgia Tech, my college, to address a packed crowd in downtown Atlanta. Sparked by this encounter and riding the anti-Bush bandwagon, I checked my ballot box for Mr. Obama on Election Day, and optimistically began to look for the hope and change he promised. Little has improved since then, and the experience left a sour taste in my mouth toward democracy.

State Of The Union: President Obama says his State of the Union speech will be "focused on job creation." Seems as though we´ve heard this song before from Obama. And we already know how it ends. In a preview of his State of the Union speech to Democrats, Obama promised that after four years of historically weak economic growth and an unemployment rate that´s been stuck at or near 8% since he took office, he´s going to turn his attention to job growth. But he´s made the same promise many times over the past four years.

Catholic adoption agencies have been forced to close their doors in Illinois, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C., because their religious beliefs about marriage were deemed unacceptable by their jurisdictions. A graduate student in Michigan was expelled from a counseling program because her religious beliefs about marriage were deemed unacceptable by school officials. Christian pharmacists in Illinois were told to find other professions because their religious beliefs regarding when life begins were deemed unacceptable by the state. Private business owners are facing enormous fines because their beliefs about when life begins have been deemed unacceptable by the federal government.

Staring at a another debt ceiling crisis, the president´s punishing the one credit rating agency that dared downgrade U.S. debt in the last crisis. And Wall Street analysts say the timing´s no coincidence. Just weeks away from the next debt-limit showdown, the Justice Department filed a whopping $5 billion lawsuit against Standard & Poor´s for alleged fraud. The case appears weak, but the message it sends S&P and the other independent rating agencies is clear: Don´t downgrade anymore. "It´s a foregone conclusion that no more downgrades will be coming," said Euro Pacific Capital CEO

Sen. Rand Paul will deliver what´s being billed as the official tea party response to President Obama´s State of the Union address on Tuesday, the Tea Party Express announced Friday afternoon — putting yet another top 2016 GOP presidential contender head-to-head with Mr. Obama. Republican Party officials picked Sen. Marco Rubio, Florida Republican and another potential 2016 presidential hopeful, to give the official Republican response, so elevating Mr. Paul, Kentucky Republican, to the tea party response will show several contrasts. The fired Los Angeles Police officer and ex-U.S. Navy reservist terrorizing Southern California, allegedly killing three and wounding three, is no Adam Lanza of the unspeakable Newtown infamy, no Jared Lee Loughner, who allegedly murdered a judge and maimed a congresswoman in Arizona, no James Eagan Holmes, whom officials say murdered 12 and injured another 58 moviegoers in

Senate majority leader Harry Reid helped set the precedent for looking into foreign backers when, in 2002, he demanded that Henry Kissinger reveal the source of his funders before serving on the 9/11 Commission. Kissinger refused to release his own documents, and therefore did not serve on the commission. It´s relevant now because Chuck Hagel, who has been nominated as secretary of defense, is not fully disclosing his own foreign financial dealings. This, despite the fact that more than half the Republicans in the Senate sent a letter asking him to do so before they could

Security: The deaths of four Americans in Libya may be old news, but the president who failed to protect them remains in office. A Senate hearing has shown just how bad the negligence was. It´s an uphill battle keeping the public focused on any story more than a few days old. But Republican senators did their best Thursday to draw attention to the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. The story continues to reveal much about Barack Obama´s leadership and priorities.

We’re a day late to it but here it is, by popular demand, for your evening enjoyment. The Blaze says the response they’ve gotten to the vid is among the most enthusiastic for any clip in the history of the site. The Wall Street Journal, upon viewing it, declared “Ben Carson for president.” He’ll be on Hannity’s show tonight to elaborate on the themes, but if you’re unfamiliar with the man, you can get a taste of his many accomplishments here. I wonder why a guy who can light up an audience like this hasn’t considered political office.

What you see below is a copy of a May 26, 2005 letter from Senators Christopher Dodd and Joe Biden encouraging a no vote on cloture for the nomination of John Bolton. Senate Democrats (including Senators Obama, Biden, Clinton, and Kerry) twice voted en bloc against cloture on the Bolton nomination, preventing his confirmation as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. They did so because they were denied certain information they deemed necessary to judge Bolton´s fitness for the position, and therefore acted "to protect the Senate´s constitutional power to advise and consent to nominations."

When Osama bin Laden was killed, President Obama and his top officials huddled before a video screen in the White House, releasing a photo depicting how deeply involved the commander-in-chief was. When video from a drone showed terrorists attacking the American legation in Bengahzi, Mr. Obama discussed the matter in the Oval Office with Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and General Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, for 20 minutes. They then returned to the Pentagon. Mr. Obama never talked to them again, not while Ambassador Stevens was missing, not when
