A Facebook error on Thursday caused major disruption to some of the top visited news websites. Internet users, who were logged into their Facebook accounts, were unable to connect to popular web destinations including CNN, Huffington Post, Washington Post and Gawker. When users tried to visit those websites, the landing page would appear for just a moment before they were re-directed to a Facebook page with an error message.
