President Obama and the Department of Homeland Security care more about “special interests” in the Democratic campaign base than the lives of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, the ICE union boss told Congress today. “Death or serious injury to ICE officers and agents appears more acceptable to ICE, DHS, and Administration leadership, than the public complaints that would be lodged by special interest groups representing illegal aliens,” Chris Crane, president of the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement 118, told the House Judiciary Committee this afternoon. Crane based that statement on the way government policies handcuff the ICE

Dick Morris will no longer be serving as a contributor at Fox News, a spokesperson for the network told TheWrap. Morris´ contract had recently expired, and Fox will not be renewing it, the spokesperson said. Morris, a former adviser to President Bill Clinton who later turned into a harsh critic for the Clintons, had been a longtime contributor to Fox, but has not appeared on the cable network in recent months. (Snip) But while Morris may no longer be a presence on Fox News´ airwaves, he isn´t disappearing from television news --

Murders, aggravated assaults, and robberies involving guns have risen dramatically in Massachusetts since the state passed a comprehensive package of gun laws in 1998, the Boston Globe reports. The escalating nationwide gun control debate has posed a variety of reasons for increased crime in stricter states and cities: On the one hand, gun rights groups argue that restricting law-abiding citizens from arming themselves give criminals an advantage. On the other, gun-control advocates argue that strict laws in one state mean nothing if its adjoining state is lax on guns.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said sea level readings indicated a tsunami was generated that may be destructive near the epicenter. The U.S. Geological Survey said the 8.0-magnitude quake struck Wednesday 81 kilometers (50 miles) west of Lata, in the Solomon Islands, at a depth of 5.8 kilometers (3.6 miles.) Sonia Sotomayor appeared on “The Colbert Report” Monday night to talk about her new memoir, “My Beloved World,” but she stumbled upon an interesting confession in the process: She claims to be an independent. Citing her history, Comedy Central funnyman Stephen Colbert asked the Supreme Court justice, “Why aren’t you a Republican if you believe in self-reliance?” “How do you know I’m not?” Justice Sotomayor responded. “Because Obama appointed you,” the host shot back, gaining laughter

White House homeland security adviser John O. Brennan is expected to face tough, new questions about the U.S. use of drones to target Americans suspected of terrorism, when he appears Thursday before a Senate committee considering his nomination to serve as CIA director. A newly revealed government memo makes clear just how broad the legal justification is for the targeted killings — which are the Obama administration’s signature counter-terrorism program. The memo has rekindled concern on Capitol Hill about the program, with many Democrats questioning

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor outlined a list of policy prescriptions on Tuesday designed to "make life work" for Americans. The Virginia Republican filled his speech at the American Enterprise Institute with agenda items related to the fiscal battles being fought on Capitol Hill. And he focused much of his address on families, referencing words such as family 27 times, parents 25 times, children 20 times and kids 11 times. Other policy items Cantor discussed include granting more visas to highly skilled workers; creating a breakdown of college cost for students and parents;

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated Tuesday that President Obama´s signature healthcare law will cost about $1.3 trillion over the next 10 years. The figure represents a slight increase since August, when the nonpartisan budget office estimated that the law would cost about $1.17 trillion before 2022. Tuesday´s total incorporated 2023, and budget analysts wrote that last August´s estimate "remains essentially unchanged." The CBO has concluded that healthcare reform, in spite of its price tag, will ultimately reduce the deficit because of revenue-raisers within the bill.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Tuesday dodged a question about whether he favors a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens. At a Capitol Hill press conference, a reporter asked Boehner, “Do you personally believe there should be a path to citizenship like [Senator Marco] Rubio (R-Fl.) described in his bill?” Boehner responded, “I think this is very difficult part of any of these bills. And I’m going to just encourage members on both sides of the Capitol and both parties to continue to try to come to some resolution of that issue.”

Jeb Bush Tuesday agreed to appear at the upcoming CPAC convention, long considered the first step to running for president. The American Conservative Union said that Bush will address the 40th annual Conservative Political Action Conference scheduled for March 14-16 in National Harbor, Md., on the Washington beltway. It’s no accident that the fight over multibillion-dollar cuts to every government agency sounds a lot like cuts hitting one agency — the Pentagon. The reason: It hasn’t been a fair fight. Top officials at three domestic agencies say they were instructed by the White House not to talk about the looming sequester cuts unless their talking points were first cleared by the Office of Management and Budget. The direction from the White House so infuriated Senate Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Barbara Mikulski that she’s planning a hearing next Thursday to give domestic agencies a chance to make their case

Donald Trump, the outspoken critic of establishment Republicans, Tuesday blasted GOP efforts to clear the way for 11 million illegal immigrants to become U.S. citizens, mocking the party for thinking that its bipartisan effort will boost Hispanic support. "The Republicans will not get one vote from those 11 million people," he said. "I don´t care what they do, they can do whatever they want, they can be ´compassionate,´ they can be everything. Those 11 million are voting against and that´s another 11 million votes more

First Lutheran Church of Carson School is closing midsemester amid reports that two boys received oral sex from a 5-year-old girl on school grounds, according to KABC-TV. Attorney Greg Owen, who is representing some of the children´s families, said the sexual acts took place at nap time, at a school playground and at an outside bathroom. "It all boils down to a lack of supervision," Owen told ABC News. "There were times when teachers would let aides

In November 2011, President Obama lamented that “some in Congress are trying to undo these automatic spending cuts” that were part of that August’s deal to raise the debt limit. “My message to them is simple: No. I will veto any effort to get rid of those automatic spending cuts to domestic and defense spending. There will be no easy off ramps on this one.” Now, it’s Obama who is looking for an off ramp. With the automatic spending cuts about to go into effect, the Associated Press reports, “President Barack Obama will ask Congress to

SAN DIEGO — U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano toured the Mexico border Monday to trumpet increased enforcement as she campaigned for an overhaul of immigration laws. The former Arizona governor highlighted "incredible" spending on border enforcement, 40-year lows in "illegal immigration numbers" and relatively low violent crime rates in major border cities like San Diego and El Paso, Texas. "What we have seen now compared to 20 years ago is like the difference between a rocket ship and a horse and buggy," Napolitano said at a news conference after a helicopter tour. As Iran teetered on the brink of revolution, the Carter administration transferred approximately 70 F-14 fighter jets to the Iranian air force. At the time, the F-14 was perhaps the top platform in the U.S. Air Force, a plane upon which a generation of American air defense rested. It is ironic that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Air Force is today the only country that actively uses the F-14, although some U.S. National Guard units do also occasionally fly the plane. Alas, President Obama appears determined to repeat Jimmy Carter’s mistakes. Giving Turkey the F-35

Representative Tom Cole (R., Okla.) earned himself a lot of MSNBC appearances last year when he broke ranks with his party and urged them to accept President Obama’s tax demands by letting the Bush-era tax rates expire on incomes above $250,000. Obama did not get everything he wanted in the fiscal-cliff deal, but he ended up with a $600 billion tax increase. Now, he’s back for more. The president announced today a proposal to temporarily delay the looming sequester — $1 trillion worth of automatic spending cuts, half of which would come from the defense budget

So, as NBC News’ Michael Isikoff reports, according to an Obama/Holder Justice Department memo, it’s okay for the U.S. government to authorize the extrajudicial killing of American citizens who are believed to be senior operational leaders of al-Qaeda, even if there’s no intelligence that they’re involved in an active plot against the U.S. According to Jay Carney, such killing is “legal, ethical, and wise.” On the other hand, it’s inarguably torture and a war crime to waterboard a non-citizen who’s the confirmed No. 2 leader of al-Qaeda and who actually planned the most horrific terrorist attack in American history. LOS ANGELES — President Obama took the day off on Super Bowl Sunday. Nobody should fault him for this. Super Bowl Sunday is a day for Americans to relax. President Obama has every right to kick back, pop open a cold one, and enjoy some football. The Super Bowl is so ingrained in American culture that there is an official movement to have the following Monday declared a national holiday. Most Americans would be fine with giving Obama and themselves Monday off to unwind. Even presidents deserve relaxation time. The problem is that

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., said on Tuesday that the children of illegal immigrants should be granted a path to citizenship, providing a clue about how the GOP-controlled House may tackle immigration reform this year. "A good place to start is with the kids," Cantor said during his speech at the American Enterprise Institute. "One of the great founding principles of our country was that children would not be punished for the mistakes of their parents. It is time to provide an opportunity for legal residence and citizenship for those who were brought to this

One of the world´s most fashionable cities can no longer skirt the issue -- ladies want to wear pants, too. France’s Minister of Women’s Rights, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, repealed last week an over 200-year-old law in Paris that said police could arrest women for dressing like men, The Telegraph reports. "This ordinance is incompatible with the principles of equality between women and men, which are listed in the constitution, and in France's European commitments,” Vallaud-Belkacem said in a statement. The law, which has been unenforced in recent years,

Canadian Chris Hadfield snapped the astonishing images over the past few days to give space fans an insight into the incredible views enjoyed from 250 miles above the planet´s surface. Although he has no direct internet connection on the space station, the astronaut has been sending the images back via Nasa to his son Evan, who is maintaining Twitter and Google+ accounts for his many followers on Earth.

See, I Told You So," because it used to be somewhat unique. Now it´s not difficult at all. It is important, however. I do, when relevant, like to remind you of things that you´ve heard in the past on this program that you may have forgotten, things that I´ve said. Here´s a story that leads into my point.

A seven-year-old boy from Colorado has been suspended from school after he lobbed an imaginary grenade on the playground while pretending to be a hero soldier. Alex Evans, of Loveland, said he was playing a make-believe game called ´rescue the world´ during recess at Mary Blair Elementary School, which resulted in his removal from class after officials said he broke a key rule. The second-grader explained that he tossed an imaginary grenade into a box containing made-up forces of evil, and made the sound ´pshhh´ to indicate that the explosive had detonated.
