Zero Dark Ethanol
Wall Street Journal, by Editorial    Original Article
Posted By: StormCnter- 1/29/2013 12:07:30 PM     Post Reply
Ethanol is one of the only products in history that Congress subsidizes and mandates at the same time. That sounds pretty generous. Yet now a federal court has ruled the Environmental Protection Agency is illegally giving the lobby extra benefits that Congress never intended. That takes some work. On Friday the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals found that the EPA had abused the law with "an unreasonable exercise of agency discretion," and it vacated the 2012 cellulosic ethanol mandate. The 2007 Bush-Pelosi energy bill required blending fuels that can allegedly be made from switchgrass or farm waste into the gasoline supply,

CHRIS MATTHEWS: People that believe in border protection, who believe you can stop somebody from coming into this country by higher towers, or more drones, or more people working there, I think are right-wingers or idiots. If you want to work and you´re looking for a job, you´re going to come to America, Congresswoman. You´re going to come in here and you´re going to find a way in, whether you have to take a boat, an airplane, or swim. Whatever you have to do, you´re going to get here. And my question is, are we going to have a

With record numbers of college graduates underemployed in jobs that don’t actually require degrees, economists are joking that even aspiring janitors may soon have to get master’s degrees to compete for jobs. A study released Monday by the Center for College Affordability and Productivity found that 37 percent of employed graduates didn’t need to attend college at all to successfully perform their current jobs. Boston Scientific is cutting up to 1,000 more jobs as it deals with a new medical device tax from the U.S. health care overhaul, limited growth prospects in certain markets and pressure to cut prices on its products in other countries. Still, the Natick, Mass., company´s shares jumped Tuesday after the maker of pacemakers and heart stents reported fourth-quarter results and a 2013 profit forecast that exceeded Wall Street expectations. In a push to trim costs, Boston Scientific Corp. plans to cut 900 to 1,000 jobs this year, which will include layoffs as well as the elimination

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced Tuesday he will not be sticking around for President Barack Obama’s second term. The former Republican congressman informed department employees of his decision in an email. He said he had told the president he would be leaving. “I plan to stay on until my successor is confirmed to ensure a smooth transition for the Department and all the important work we still have to do,” said LaHood, who represented Illinois in the House for seven terms. LaHood called the post “the best job I’ve ever had” and said he was proud of the “significant”

On Monday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Fox News contributors Jonah Goldberg and Charles Krauthammer discussed the media’s recent handling of President Barack Obama, with Goldberg specifically trashing CBS News for its Sunday night “60 Minutes” interview with the president. “It was a grotesque embarrassment for CBS News,” Goldberg said. “I think that this is the People magazine-ification of ‘60 Minutes,’ which historically was the news program that politicians were supposed to be most scared of. It is inconceivable that any of the journalists at Fox — if they had

Senate Majority Whip Richard J. Durbin, D-Ill., said Monday that so far, he has not counted a single Democratic “no” vote on the question of whether former Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel should be confirmed as Defense secretary. Hagel, whose nomination has drawn fire from his fellow Republicans, is scheduled to appear before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday for his hearing. Though the session with the panel is expected to be testy, Hagel will likely clear that hurdle before facing a 60-vote threshold in the full Senate. But even Republican aides are quietly conceding he is likely to get

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has approved Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) as the 68th secretary of state, by a unanimous voice vote. The full Senate will vote on Kerry’s nomination later today. The unanimous vote is not much of a surprise; Kerry sailed through his four-hour confirmation hearing. As Anne Gearan wrote: Kerry outlined no grand agenda for the next four years. The closest he got to a foreign policy mission statement was the observation that “more than ever, foreign policy is economic policy.”

Cairo - The head of the Egyptian military warned political conflict could lead to the collapse of the state and said protecting the Suez Canal was one of the main objectives of the army deployment to nearby cities shaken by violence. Protesters defied a curfew in towns along the Suez Canal overnight, attacking police stations after President Mohamed Morsi imposed emergency rule to end days of clashes that have killed at least 52 people. The remarks of General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who is also defense minister, were published on the official Facebook page of the army spokesman.

WASHINGTON, DC — President Obama may know he doesn´t have the authority to directly destroy the gun industry in the US, but that’s not stopping him and his fellow community activists, some of whom are in high political positions. Obama’s latest attack is a coordinated effort among the federal agencies he controls, plus his big-city mayors, and it is set up to treat legitimate American businesses as if they were proponents of apartheid. Obama & Company are forcing “their” agencies to divest their holdings in firearms and ammunition manufacturers. Some, like Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel,

WASHINGTON, DC — On Sunday evening, January 27, Steve Kroft embarrassed himself, CBS, 60 Minutes, and the American media in general with an historically sycophantic interview of President Barack Obama and outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. When Obama and Clinton were offstage, Kroft did refer to the Benghazi fiasco as “the biggest diplomatic disaster of this administration,” but the questions he asked them on camera were prefaced with comments like, “You had a very long day [at the hearings]. Also, how is your health?” Kroft introduced other questions with remarks like,

The recent decision by outgoing Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta to allow women to serve in front-line combat units is fraught with problems, and no one in the administration or at the Department of Defense seems to be considering them. First of all, it is important to understand that the nature of warfare has changed substantially in the last couple of decades. Linear battlefields with clearly defined front lines and rear areas are no longer the norm and are unlikely to re-emerge in future warfare. Furthermore, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)

CBS News reporter Steve Kroft has been deemed President Obama´s "Go-to Interviewer." Appearing on CNN´s Piers Morgan Tonight he divulged why the President likes him so much: "(Obama) knows that we’re not going to play ‘gotcha’ with him, that we’re not going to go out of our way to make him look bad or stupid.” "Gotcha" apparently, is a euphemism for "asking hard questions." In fact, we searched our database here at Breitbart and can´t find one challenging or tough question Mr. Kroft has ever asked President Obama.

President Obama either signed conservatism´s death warrant last week, with his second inaugural´s theme of entitlements forever, climate wars forever, and equality forever, or he sent the liberal Army Group A heading for the Caucasus. But don´t worry liberals: the Sixth Army will take care of Reagangrad. Meanwhile conservatives are starting to organize for 2016: people like Governor Bobby Jindal (R-LA). Stop fussing about inside the Beltway government, he told the Republican National Committee: focus on the big picture of growth and opportunity.

President Barack Obama is set to reject the key compromise at the heart of a bipartisan deal on immigration reform announced by eight Senators yesterday. The president, who will deliver an address later today in Las Vegas, NV outlining his own immigration ideas, is reported to oppose linking a “path to citizenship” for illegal immigrants, a Democrat demand, to stronger law enforcement and better border security, a Republican demand. The president will apparently argue that the administration has met reasonable goals on enforcing current immigration legislation, and that additional security will merely create new obstacles to legalizing

Former Clinton labor secretary turned MSNBC contributor Robert Reich has a truly nutty solution for America´s current economic woes. Writing at the perilously liberal Huffington Post Tuesday, Reich called for some of the top employers in the nation to unionize. "Almost a quarter of all jobs in America now pay wages below the poverty line for a family of four," wrote Reich. "The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates 7 out of 10 growth occupations over the next decade will be low-wage -- like serving customers at big-box retailers and fast-food chains." "Wealthy Americans," he continued,
