Media Bias: CBS´ "60 Minutes" just out-lapdogged its 1992 Bill and Hillary Clinton Gennifer Flowers scandal interview. The "news magazine" on Sunday became a "Hillary in 2016" campaign brochure. What better friend have the Clintons ever had than Steve Kroft? Slick Willie was the lackluster governor of the Deep South´s least populous state, booed off the podium of the 1988 Democratic convention in Atlanta, when Arkansas state employee Gennifer Flowers presented audiotape evidence of a 12-year affair during his 1992 run for his party´s presidential nod, not long after Clinton won less than 3% in the Iowa caucuses.

A Pennsylvania woman has appealed to the state Supreme Court in her suit against a home seller and real estate agent who failed to disclose that a murder-suicide had taken place in the home she purchased. When Janet Milliken, 59, moved from California after her husband died, she had hoped to start a new life with her two teenage children in Pennsylvania near her family. She bought a home in Thornton, Pa., for $610,000 in June 2007. She learned a few weeks after she moved in from a next-door neighbor that a murder-suicide had occurred the year before

First, on a personal note: Thank you, thank you and thank you, Mary Elizabeth Williams! What a glorious service you’ve done the pro-life cause. I know, that’s not what you intended. But that’s precisely what you’ve accomplished. Did I say thank you? In her jaw-dropping article, “So what if abortion ends life?” Williams – a mainstream, though uncharacteristically honest pro-abort scribe for Salon.com – has inexplicably broken from the Orwellian left’s ministerial script.

San Diego - Tiger Woods is a winner again at Torrey Pines, and the only question Monday was how long it would take him to finish. Woods stretched his lead to eight shots in the Farmers Insurance Open before losing his focus and his patience during a painfully slow finish by the group ahead. Despite dropping four shots over the last five holes, he still managed an even-par 72 for a four-shot victory on the course where he has won more than any other in his pro career. He won the tournament for the seventh time,

In his inaugural address on January 21, President Obama invoked great ideals of human dignity, equality, and most especially “progress” to justify his second-term agenda, a cornerstone of which will be a crusade to limit humanity’s use of carbon. In fact, nothing could be more antithetical to the goal of advancing the human condition than restricting carbon consumption.

The United States Marine Corps is set to shed more than 20,000 active duty positions in the coming years and have already commenced a process meant to force some senior officers into an early retirement. The Marines are on course to cut around 4,000 positions a year through 2017, decreasing the total number of Marines to 182,100 from its peak last year of 202,100, according to a major scale-down order that was quietly issued last year. The reduction in forces could leave the elite fighting force underprepared to battle multiple regional threats, particularly those in the Middle East,

On the January 25 broadcast of MSNBC’s The Cycle, 9/11 Truther and liberal commentator Touré Neblett “thank[ed] God” that abortion was there to save him from unwanted fatherhood with a girlfriend who was "just not the one." "[I]n some ways that choice saved my life," the MSNBC host insisted in his closing commentary, seemingly remorseless for how that choice cost an innocent human being his or her life. Noting that last Tuesday marked 40 years since the Supreme Court´s ruling in Roe v. Wade, Touré argued that there’s “something undeniably misogynist about

RUSH: Obama said to the New Republic he´d get a lot more done without Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. The rest of the media´s in the tank. Everybody else has fallen in line. There is no opposition other than Fox News and Limbaugh. The way it works, and what this all boils down to, the Republicans, I mean, everybody knows they want to get along with Democrats. Everybody knows they want to socialize. They want their lives to have meaning, but Limbaugh is the one standing in the way ´cause what happens?

The news that Fox News Channel has decided against renewing Sarah Palin’s contract means that the former Alaska governor’s time in the national spotlight is, at least for the moment, over. In truth, Palin had largely disappeared from the political conversation once it became clear she wouldn’t be running for president in 2012. But, now that she is officially gone — without the Fox News platform or an elected office, it’s hard to see how she continues to get attention — it’s worth revisiting (or maybe visiting) what she meant to the political world.

WASHINGTON--We spent part of the weekend at the National Review Institute Summit. Less than a week into Barack Obama´s second term, you wouldn´t expect a conservative conclave in the capital to be a cheery affair, and this one lived up to expectations. Slate´s Dave Weigel reports that NRI summits are always like this: National Review has only held two other post-election summits—they save ´em for real debacles. In 1993, William F. Buckley gathered 1,000 conservatives in the nearby Mayflower Hotel, to vent and strategize about the threat of Bill Clinton.

Mattera approaches Bloomberg and asks, “In the spirit of gun control, will you disarm your entire security team?” Bloomberg’s reply: “Uh, you, we’ll get right back to you.” “Why can you defend yourself but not the majority of Americans?”

After losing a bruising presidential campaign, most aides take a vacation. A few nervous nellies begin looking for work with other politicians. But Bay Buchanan, a top Mitt Romney lieutenant who´s been involved in politics ever since serving as treasurer of Ronald Reagan´s 1980 campaign, saw last November´s loss as a signal to get out of presidential politics. "It was so tough. It was brutal," she said of the loss to President Obama. "I think it´s the toughest because we really expected to win it," added Buchanan, a former Treasurer of the United States who also ran her brother Pat´s

Many, many thoughts crossed my mind as Richard Blanco finished reading his inaugural poem at President Obama’s swearing-in last week. Well, I guess it could have been worse was not one of them. But now I know: It could have been worse. Blanco called his poem “One Today.” The theme was the same as the president’s address: unity and how we’re really one big happy country when you get right down to it. Like so many ambitious, patriotic poems, “One Today” provided a panoramic ride on the Walt Whitman GoodTime Land o’ The Free Tour-mobile®.

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba — Two Sept. 11 defendants delayed the start of their hearing Monday at Guantanamo when they refused to respond to questions from their judge in the case. Defense lawyers didn´t say what prompted the silent protest by self-proclaimed terrorist mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and one of five co-defendants at the military tribunal on the US base in Cuba. Mohammed refused to say whether he approved the hiring of another attorney for him. Fellow defendant Walid bin Attash refused to say why he wanted a military lawyer removed from his team.

Argentina and Iran have formed an extrajudicial “Truth Commission” to probe the 1994 bombing of a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, which Iran and its client terror group Hezbollah have long been suspected of orchestrating. Several Iranian officials are currently wanted by Interpol in connection to the bombing, which killed 85 and injured hundreds more. The commission will be made up of five jointly chosen jurists. It will review evidence against the Iranians on the Interpol red notice list and send its findings to the international police organization.

How big of an Obama lapdog is Andrea Mitchell? Even bigger than ardent Obama fan Chris Hughes. The Facebook co-founder, who bought the New Republic last year, recently scored an interview with President Obama that has been criticized for its generally soft questioning. But during an appearance on Mitchell´s MSNBC show today, even Hughes was more candid about the prez than Mitchell. When it came to the President´s statement during the interview that at Camp David "we do skeet shooting all the time," Mitchell claimed "he didn´t say that he was skeet shooting, but

Sixteen people in five states including, Arizona, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin have been sickened by a strain of Salmonella Typhimurium linked to ground beef, The Center for Disease control and Prevention reported. The CDC associated the source of illness to ground beef distributed by two Michigan retailers. Both, Jouni Meats and Gab Halal Foods, issued recalls of 500 and 550 pounds of ground beef respectively at the end of last week, the USDA reported. Seven of the confirmed illnesses occurred after people had a raw beef dish called kibbeh at a Michigan restaurant.

The first soldier to survive after losing all four limbs in the Iraq war has received a double-arm transplant. Brendan Marrocco had the operation on Dec. 18 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, his father said Monday. The 26-year-old Marrocco, who is from New York City, was injured by a roadside bomb in 2009. He also received bone marrow from the same dead donor who supplied his new arms. That novel approach is aimed at helping his body accept the new limbs with minimal medication to prevent rejection. Source name must be spelled out.

Normally these Downton Abbey recaps are peppered with jokes and a generous helping of wry asides about the Dowager Countess’s wry asides. Under other circumstances, this week’s would be, too. If things had turned out differently, this installment would be dominated by a dissertation on the latest developments in the unceasingly dull Mr. Bates Murder Mystery (update: the pie did it!); lots of wink-wink, nudge-nudge banter about how Thomas’s relationship with Hot Jimmy the Footman has made “winding the clocks” my new favorite sexual euphemism; an analysis of Edith’s new role as the founder of the 1920s-British-high-society-old-media version of Jezebel; Headline resplit by staff.

With rising opposition to the Muslim Brotherhood in light of the leadership of President Mohamed Morsy, who hails from the group, opponents consistently voice one criticism: that young Brothers are mindless followers of the orders of their leaders and of the supreme guide, the highest authority within the group. Brotherhood youth fend off this criticism by saying their support of the leaders is a measure of organization that people outside the group don’t understand, but that is key to its success and continuity. “The organization is above ideas and above people ... that’s the secret of its success,”

The Boy Scouts of America, one of the nation’s largest private youth organizations, is actively considering an end to its decades-long policy of banning gay scouts or scout leaders, according to scouting officials and outsiders familiar with internal discussions. If adopted by the organization’s board of directors, it would represent a profound change on an issue that has been highly controversial -- one that even went to the US Supreme Court. The new policy, now under discussion, would eliminate the ban from the national organization’s rules, leaving local sponsoring organizations free to decide
