Rep. Trey Radel (R-Fla.) said Wednesday that "all options should be on the table" when asked about the possibility of Republicans initiating impeachment proceedings against President Obama. In an interview with Florida political website The Shark Tank, the freshman lawmaker was asked about the possibility of impeaching the president for executive overreach. Citizens "have completely lost our checks and balances in this country," he said. "The Congress needs to hold the president accountable for the decisions that he’s making right now, and that´s why, again, I would say that all options should be on the table.”

Two former and controversial political figures are now in the 1st Congressional District race, though one is a bigger surprise than the other. As expected, two-term Gov. Mark Sanford will formally join the field today by issuing a press statement confirming that he will go after the seat he held for three terms previously, beginning in the 1990s. The move will be his first ballot test among Republicans and other voters since the final months of his term as governor were overshadowed by his affair with an Argentine woman, now his fiancee. Meanwhile, former Dorchester County Sheriff Ray Nash also Headline corrected by staff

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) appeared on a local Reno program with Jim Rogers and former Nevada first lady Dawn Gibbons to talk about Reid´s time spent with President Obama. After several minutes of Reid and Rogers fawning over President Obama´s academic credentials, the Senator lamented how much the Tea Party "has damaged" Congress. Reid then shared that a moving picture signed by President Obama and given to him has brought him to tears more than once.

Sales of erotic books have surged in the wake of E.L. James’ Fifty Shades success, but does Marie Calloway’s forthcoming Tyrant Books release What Purpose Did I Serve in Your Life cross a line? For printer Sterling Pierce, the answer is apparently yes. Gearing up for a June publication, Tyrant publisher Giancarlo DiTrapano this week received word that the printer has refused to print review copies of the book. In a brief note, which DiTrapano shared online, the printer said that “due to the content, we are going to have to pass on printing this book.”

It’s not your business model that sucks; it’s you that sucks. -- Andrew Breitbart Just as we saw last week at the New York Times and Time Magazine, the mainstream media´s pro-Obama chickens are finally coming home to roost. The media sold its soul to elect Barack Obama and then re-sold it to re-elect him. This, even though his economic policies have been a stone cold disaster. But now, in a fit of extremely satisfying karma, Reuters has joined the membership of high -profile, left-wing news outlets announcing a series of layoffs. Once source told Talking Biz News,

Paul Krugman, a liberal economist and New York Times columnist, said increased government spending is key to economic recovery. During an interview on Friday on “Moyers & Company,” on PBS, Bill Moyers asked, “And you argue that this could actually be solved in two years?” Krugman, a Nobel prize winner, answered that it was a matter for more government spending. “That´s right, and that´s not a number plucked out of thin air,” Krugman said. “That´s a guess at how long it would take to get a serious spending program going, and we could actually make a

West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin fears a full-court-press from the media on gun control, according to the leader of a gun-rights group who met with him Tuesday afternoon in his Charleston, W.Va. office. Writing on Facebook, West Virginia Citizens Defense League president Keith Morgan described Manchin’s reaction when he contended that Congress would not renew a federal-level “assault weapons ban” or create new limits on the capacity of ammunition magazines. Jerusalem - Long-strained ties between Benjamin Netanyahu and Barack Obama sprang to the fore of Israel´s election campaign on Wednesday after the U.S. president was quoted as criticizing the prime minister´s character. Less than a week before a January 22 ballot that opinion polls predict the right-wing Netanyahu will win easily, Israeli media highlighted a U.S. commentator´s column on Obama and questioned whether the Democratic president was trying to sway the vote. Netanyahu´s office declined comment on Tuesday´s unsourced column by Bloomberg´s Jeffrey Goldberg, which described Obama as frustrated at West Bank settlement building that has deepened Israel´s diplomatic

The killing of Osama bin Laden was touted as the beginning of the end of Al Qaeda (the term "war on terror" having long since been abandoned). Yet as the nation´s capital prepares for President Barack Obama´s second inauguration, Al Qaeda is opening new fronts, including ground assaults on French forces in Mali and, today, the kidnapping of foreign workers at a natural gas facility in Algeria, which borders Mali to the north. French troops are preparing to fight Islamist guerillas in northern Mali, which has been turned into a virtual Al Qaeda state following the

In the days before Barack Obama’s first inauguration in 2009, Washington’s hotels were not only sold out but had been sold out for weeks. Rooms weren’t available at any price. On January 18, 2009, the Washington Post reported that “all but 400 or so of the District’s 29,000 hotel rooms were booked.” Finding one of those 400 rooms was a daunting challenge — and even they were gone by Inauguration Day. Now, as Obama prepares for his second inauguration amid lessened hope and enthusiasm for his presidency, it’s easy to find a room.

The pilot who crashed his helicopter into a newly-built tower in central London, killing himself and a second person on the street below, was today named as experienced aviator Pete Barnes. He had requested to divert via Heathrow air traffic control and land at Battersea Heliport, due to bad weather conditions, when the helicopter hit a construction crane at the top of the tower near Vauxhall Bridge at 8am. Mr Barnes, 50, who flew a helicopter for James Bond film Die Another Day and had been an air ambulance pilot, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Liberals booed God at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte last year after skittish party officials reinserted a mention of him in the platform. Nothing has changed since then. The latest secularist push of the party is to remove God from the inauguration. Prominent liberals are questioning the use of the Bible for the presidential oath and the use of prayers in the ceremony. They have already made some progress in their demands. In 2009, Obama upset them by selecting vaguely conservative pastor Rick Warren to deliver the invocation. But this year Obama has chosen a

Pennsylvania gun owners threatened to boycott the state´s largest hunting and fishing expo Tuesday after organizers announced that they would ban the display and sale of assault rifles at this year´s show. Reed Exhibitions, a British-based company that runs the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg each February, notified vendors of the change in policy over the last several days, a company representative confirmed to The Inquirer. The presence of so-called assault weapons and high-capacity magazines might have served as "a distraction" from other aspects of the event in the wake of the recent school shootings

Politics: President Obama threatened Social Security checks would be delayed if Congress didn´t play ball on the debt ceiling. Once again, he turned pensions into a political football. There are ways to stop this. Americans should know: Social Security payments won´t be affected by debt-ceiling talks, and Obama knows it. Still, it´s not as if the Social Security system is healthy. In a Page 1 story Monday, IBD´s Jed Graham reported that 2013 marks the first year new Social Security retirees will outlive the trust fund. Their benefits will be slashed 25% as the system goes bust in 2033.

This from the technical chartists at RBS, for those who like entrails and soothsaying. [Snip][ Wall Street is at a key juncture. If the S&P does not push through this line, it is likely to break down for a while. They predict a reversal. There are plenty of triggers. The US is going into a Triple Witching Month in March: the federal government shutdown, the debt-ceiling, and the spending cuts from sequester. A nasty brew. On the other hand, look at the US money supply in this chart from Paul Ashworth at Capital Economics:

Despite Obama´s promise to cut unnecessary regulations, his administration issued $236.7 billion in new rules in 2012. According to a report by the American Action Forum, headed by former Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Holtz-Eakin, the direct costs of the regulations force American businesses to waste 87 million man-hours to fill out regulatory paperwork. Adding Obama´s 2012 regulatory costs to that of the rest of his first term adds up to a total of $518 billion in new costs forced onto an already anemic economic recovery. This onslaught of new regulations comes even after Obama was

If you’re into good government, the advantage of having wealthy Senators or cabinet members is that they might be less likely to position themselves for a big K Street cashout afterwards. The disadvantage: wealthy people have many, large, diverse investments, thus creating many conflicts of interest. Senator and Secretary of State nominee John Kerry, for instance, owns shares in a Canadian company standing to profit from construction of the Keystone Pipeline, in many green-energy companies that could profit from global climate-change agreements, and in Brazilian oil giant Petrobras, which receives U.S. subsidies. What does one do when confronted with the mandatory task of negotiating a deal with someone who is demonstrably dishonest, driven solely by ego and only interested in embarrassing you? You don´t negotiate with them. You place your best offer offer on the table and walk away leaving the decision to accept or refuse in the hands of your adversary. The Republicans in the House are now in that circumstance regarding raising the debt ceiling.

The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg has an eye-opening piece for Bloomberg that reveals in stark terms what President Obama really thinks of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as Israel itself. As The Telegraph’s Middle East correspondent Robert Tait reports: The damning assessment of the Israeli prime minister, relayed by senior White House officials to an American journalist, Jeffrey Goldberg, is the most graphic sign yet of the toxic relationship between the two men, who have clashed continually over the stalled Middle East peace process.
