A Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft headed back to Terminal E at Logan International Airport after a fuel leak today — the second major problem in as many days on the troubled Tokyo route. The venting of the fuel has stopped from the Japan Airlines flight headed to Tokyo, said Massport spokesman Matthew Brelis, adding the plane, carrying 178 passengers, had taxied out to depart when the leak occurred. Crews are still trying to determine what caused the leak, which is believed to have come from one of the plane’s wings, Brelis said. Nobody on board was injured.

Now that Egypt’s Mohamed Morsi has settled the constitutional issues facing his country, he can turn his attention to the truly pressing problems of the Arab Spring state. Would that be religious tolerance, economic growth, and the pursuit of peace in the region? Er … not exactly. In an exclusive interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer last night, Morsi urged Barack Obama to free Omar Abdel-Rahman, better known as the Blind Sheikh, currently serving a life sentence in a maximum-security federal prison in North Carolina for his involvement

"What about home schooling? You know, it´s not just for scary religious people any more." That´s a line from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and it should strike fear into the hearts, not of vampires, but of public-school administrators everywhere. The fact is, Americans across the country -- but especially in large, urban school systems -- are voting with their feet and abandoning traditional public schools, to the point that teachers are facing layoffs. Some are going to charter schools, which are still public but are run more flexibly. Some are leaving for private schools. But many others are going

Abuja—Senate President, David Mark, has told proponents of same sex marriage to bury their dreams as such acts would not be allowed to infiltrate the Nigerian culture. He said the bill prohibiting the act was already in place, declaring that people found to have violated the law risked 14 years imprisonment. In a statement from Mr. Paul Mumeh, his Chief Press Secretary, weekend, Senator Mark told Catholic faithful and guests at the civic reception in honour of Cardinal John Onaiyean in Abuja, that it was a criminal offence for any one to indulge in such an act.

Katherine Webb sent broadcasters drooling and viewers tweeting their admiration after she cheered for McCarron as his team swiftly defeated Notre Dame to win the BCS National Championship. In the first quarter of the game, the ESPN cameras panned to 23-year-old reigning Miss Alabama, who was sitting with McCarron´s mother, and the sportscasters immediately perked up. ´I´m telling you, you quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women,´ 73-year-old

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has adopted a new term for gun control, “gun violence prevention,” in hopes that the euphemism will make it easier to marshal public opinion in favor of new gun laws as well as other policies designed to prevent shootings. “If we come out of the Newtown experience and all we do is talk about it and not have a result,” Pelosi told The New York Times, “that would be a dereliction of duty on the part of us in public office. People have grown less optimistic about the direction of the U.S. economy, according to a Gallup poll released Tuesday. "As lawmakers in Washington strained to finalize a deal to avert the fiscal cliff, Americans became less confident in the economy. And their confidence remains lower even after Congress passed and President Obama signed into law a bill that successfully staved off the fiscal cliff," a poll analysis said. "Now that the deal is done, it is possible that Americans will start to feel better about the economy in the days and weeks ahead. However, lingering concerns

Delivered March 4, 1933 -I am certain that my fellow Americans expect that on my induction into the Presidency I will address them with a candor and a decision which the present situation of our Nation impels. This is preeminently the time to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly. Nor need we shrink from honestly facing conditions in our country today. This great Nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and will prosper. So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself --

Freshman Rep. Tom Cotton, a veteran of two wars and with a pair of Harvard degrees, got a pleasant surprise last year that helped him win a very competitive Republican primary — and then a very easy general election. It was a FedEx envelope full of checks that he didn’t ask for, from a group he hardly knew — the Club for Growth. Tucked inside that envelope and several to come were $300,000 in checks from Club members, enough to help lift the 35-year-old former Army captain from obscurity — and 47 percentage points down

Should President Obama be willing to print a $1 trillion platinum coin if Republicans try to force America into default? Yes, absolutely. He will, after all, be faced with a choice between two alternatives: one that’s silly but benign, the other that’s equally silly but both vile and disastrous. The decision should be obvious. For those new to this, here’s the story. First of all, we have the weird and destructive institution of the debt ceiling; this lets Congress approve tax and spending bills that imply a large budget deficit — tax

The mysterious and mythical giant squid has never been spotted alive in the deep sea -- until now. A team from Japan´s National Science Museum has captured footage of a giant squid in its natural habitat: nearly a third of a mile below the surface of the ocean. It is the first such video of its kind. Giant squids, which can grow up to 60 feet in length, have been found dead on beaches and photographed in the ocean and -- more often -- on the surface. But scientists have never seen video of the strange creature below the waves

Ali Harzi, 26, was one of the few known suspects in custody the case, which has been beset by problems stemming from the weakness of the Libyan government and the power of militias in the country - some of whom may have even been involved in the attack. Outrageous claims made by a professor who specializes in conspiracy theories are set to provoke grieving family by saying that the Sandy Hook massacre may not have happened at all. James Tracy, a tenured history professor at Florida Atlantic University, wrote a lengthy post on his personal blog saying that the shooting that left 20 children and six teachers dead may not have happened the way that it is widely believed, if it happened at all. Backed solely by the erroneous early reports filed during the midst of the horrendous incident, Mr Tracy ´s claim

During his late, lamented campaign, Mitt Romney opined: It’s the economy, and we’re not stupid. Well, maybe. But the economy is a lot of people, millions of them actually, from the assembly line worker to the CEO, and has a surprising way of righting itself despite a plethora of bad policies. Capitalism is a mighty motor; economies rebound when you least expect them to. Not so with foreign policy. It’s in the hands of one man — the president. Yes, Congress has the right to declare war, blah blah. History has shown us again and again who
