Homeless heir to Huguette Clark´s
$19M fortune found dead in Wyoming
New York Post, by Jeane MacIntosh    Original Article
Posted By: abuela10- 12/31/2012 9:03:51 AM     Post Reply
He could have been a $19 million hobo. The twisted saga of reclusive New York railroad heiress Huguette Clark took another bizarre turn yesterday when a long-lost heir — described as a transient man who potentially stood to get a whopping piece of her massive fortune — turned up dead under a Wyoming train overpass, authorities said. The body of Timothy Henry Gray, 60, was found by kids sledding near a Union Pacific Railroad span in the small town of Evanston, police there said yesterday. The “homeless” Gray, who was wearing a light jacket in 10-degree weather, died of hypothermia.

Let’s Give Up on the Constitution

AS the nation teeters at the edge of fiscal chaos, observers are reaching the conclusion that the American system of government is broken. But almost no one blames the culprit: our insistence on obedience to the Constitution, with all its archaic, idiosyncratic and downright evil provisions. Consider, for example, the assertion by the Senate minority leader last week that the House could not take up a plan by Senate Democrats to extend tax cuts on households making $250,000 or less because the Constitution requires that revenue measures originate in the lower chamber. Why should anyone care?

Why Is Obama Caving on Taxes?
New York Magazine, by Jonathan Chait    Original Article

The discouraging thing about the “fiscal cliff” negotiations is not that they have gone into the eleventh hour, or that they may go into the new year, or even that they won’t resolve the long-term budget deficit. It’s that President Obama has retreated on his hard line on taxes. In the months before the election, and in the weeks after his victory, Obama had a clear position: The Bush tax cuts for income over $250,000 were ending. He would not sign any extension, and if Republicans refused to extend tax cuts for income below that level,

MOPTI, Mali- Deep inside caves, in remote desert bases, in the escarpments and cliff faces of northern Mali, Islamic fighters are burrowing into the earth, erecting a formidable set of defenses to protect what has essentially become al-Qaida´s new country. They have used the bulldozers, earth movers and Caterpillar machines left behind by fleeing construction crews to dig what residents and local officials describe as an elaborate network of tunnels, trenches, shafts and ramparts. In just one case, inside a cave large enough to drive trucks into, they have stored up to 100 drums of gasoline,

"Dwell on the past, lose an eye...." Russian Proverb. When we consider the specter of Islam ascending, the Left is truly conflicted.(snip)The Left´s moral and cultural relativism, coupled with its ideological investment in "Contra-Americana," has irrevocably demolished its powers of judgment. That´s why feminist organizations are strangely subdued over acid tossed in little girl´s faces for going to school in Afghanistan or in the blatant misogyny inherent in Shar´ia law.

You´ve got to hand it to bloviating Brit Piers Morgan. While he got most of the facts wrong in his recent targeting of the Second Amendment, it hasn´t stopped him from moving on to even more formidable targets. Such as the Bible. He says the book is "inherently flawed" -- and needs to be amended.

In December, there were five federal court decisions relating to ObamaCare. Chances are, however, that you will have heard about only one of them. If you do a web search for recent news stories on Hobby Lobby, whose long-shot request for a Supreme Court injunction against the HHS contraception mandate was denied last week, you will get thousands of hits. (Snip) Why have the media made such a big deal of the Hobby Lobby ruling while virtually ignoring the other December decisions? The answer is obvious. That the Obama Justice Department batted one-for-five in December is not to be advertised.

The Washington Post has apologized for asking Redskins fans to burn couches at the end of Sunday’s game and send their videos to the news outlet. A writer for the Post Sports twitter handle wrote on Friday: ‘If you light your couch on fire after the Redskins and Cowboys on Sunday night, do us a favor and send us the video?’ Later that afternoon, they offered an apology, saying that it was interpreted as ‘condoning irresponsible behavior. We encourage fans to act responsibly.’ Furniture burning following a Redskins game is a tradition among the Washington team’s most devoted fans.

Twenty twelve sure was Obama’s year.[Snip] Despite being hampered by high unemployment and a sex-obsessed Democratic Party that oh-so wants to be invited to the Playboy Mansion, he managed to become something that in post-war history is relatively rare: a two term Democrat. Well done, sir. While Obama sits in the White House watching video mash ups of election night to the tune of The Only Way Is Up, for the losers the end of the year is an opportunity to remember the bad times. Here are a few of the things the Prez did, or didn’t do, in 2012.

Long before Erika Menendez was charged with pushing a stranger to his death under an oncoming train at a Queens elevated station, she had years of contact with New York City’s mental health and law enforcement establishments. She was treated by the psychiatric staffs of at least two city hospitals, and caseworkers visited her family home in Queens to provide further help. She was also arrested at least three times, according to the police, twice after violent confrontations.

Blood clots like Clinton’s can be minor,

Blood clots like the one that Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is being treated for following her recent concussion can occur for a host of reasons. How serious a clot is depends on where it is and why it formed. A Clinton aide would not say where hers is located. WHAT THEY ARE: Blood pools and thickens into a clot after an injury or because of a heart problem, clogged arteries or other condition. Clots also can break off and travel to another part of the body.

A scathing Senate committee report on the Benghazi terrorist attack faults the State Department for failing to adequately respond to mounting security threats in the lead-up to the assault. The report says the facility was woefully under-protected at a time when the region, according to a top department official, was "flashing red" -- yet security was not improved, and nobody recommended the compound be shut down. The report, produced by the Senate homeland security committee and obtained by Fox News, follows the release of a State Department-commissioned review earlier in the month. Both are highly critical of the department.

It is as inevitable as the rising of the sun; the Left, when thwarted in their quest for power, suggests the use of lethal force to compel those who disagree. There is a nauseating litany of murders done by our betters in their pursuit of the Benthamite vision of "the greatest good for the most people" -- which in their minds equates to collectivization and socialism. You have Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Margaret Sanger, Mao Tse Tung, Pol Pot. Now we can add one more name to the list: Professor Richard Parncutt, Musicologist at Graz University in Austria.

Look closely at the end-of-the-year lists of 2012’s top news stories. What’s missing? The 11-year-old war in Afghanistan and American-led counterterrorism efforts around the world. The Pew Research Center’s weekly polling on the public’s interest in news stories showed such a low level of interest that the overseas conflicts didn’t make the organization’s list of the year’s top 15 stories. Nor did the Afghan war come up often when The Associated Press conducted its annual poll of editors and news directors in the United States. The only overseas stories voted to be the year’s top news stories
