Fox News Host Mike Huckabee moved Fox & Friends host Gretchen Carlson to tears on Monday in a discussion about God and religion in the wake of the mass murder in Connecticut on Friday. After saying that no one “should be surprised” by the attack because schools have become a place free of religion, Huckabee softened his tone. He said that Americans should no longer be ashamed of their belief in a higher power and turn to morality before the tragedy rather than after. Multiple media sources are reporting that South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley will indeed name Rep. Tim Scott to be the next senator from South Carolina. Scott will serve for two years, and then presumably run in a special election in 2014. If reelected, he would serve an additional two years (the remaining two years of the six-year term Jim DeMint was elected to in 2010) and then potentially run again for a full-six year term in 2016.
They called their plan "9-11(2)." Yes, the Twin Towers came down on that date. But even more significant to these terrorists, 9-11 would mark the seventh anniversary of al Qaeda´s last attack in Jordan. On Sept. 11, 2005, suicide bombers hit three hotels in Amman, Jordan, killing 60 and injuring over 100 more. This year, the terrorists hope to top that bloody tally. One prime target: the U.S. embassy. (Snip) Fortunately, the Jordanian intelligence service uncovered the plot, arresting 11. That´s how it´s supposed to work. The host-country stops the bad guys before they get near the diplomatic gates.
Does the Republican Party want to remain relevant? Or are they willing to be cast, by the not so subtle scorched earth tactics of Barack Obama, the Democrats and the mainstream media, into permanent second class status, and eventual oblivion? The only political weapon, but a potentially powerful one, the Republicans have is control of the House of Representatives. The Speaker of the House thus becomes, by default, the national spokesman and face of the Party. This person is the one sitting alone across the table
From the former Soviet Republic of Georgia comes news of an extraordinary betrayal by the Obama Administration. As Obama continues to abandon freedom in his support of Muslim Brotherhood and Sharia revolutions and regimes in Egypt and elsewhere, he has taken behind-the-scenes steps to further the international isolation of Israel, the only democracy in that Middle East. Just before the November 29 United Nations vote granting non-member state observer status, the U.S. ambassador to Georgia, Richard Norland, an Obama appointee, met with Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili
Police investigators have put together a chilling timeline of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre that left 20 children and six adults dead in the second deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. Investigators believe Adam Lanza, the killer, began last Friday by murdering his mother, with whom he lived, by firing two shots to her head while she was sleeping in her bed. According to a timeline put together by the Hartford Courant, Lanza then went to Sandy Hook Elementary School and forced his way into the building by firing "a half-dozen thunderous rounds
The president flew to Connecticut to represent the nation in offering comfort to the town and survivors of the mass shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School killing 26.[Snip]"Can we say that we’re truly doing enough to give all the children of this country the chance they deserve to live out their lives in happiness and with purpose?” Obama answered No.
The mother of Newtown school massacre gunman Adam Lanza was a survivalist who was stockpiling food because she thought the world economy was on the verge of collapse. Nancy Lanza began hoarding food and water because she feared that the onging financial crisis was going to bring about the end of civilized society. She reportedly became ´obsessed´ with guns and taught Adam how to shoot, but on Friday in a grim twist he blasted her to death while she laid in her own bed. Law enforcement sources told the Hartford Courant that
Resentment of the rich trumps all else in liberalism, and we are defending against a multi-front class war. President Obama is using a shotgun approach to redistribute your wealth, with multiple attacks on your income, property, savings, and cost of living. These coordinated attacks started after the 2008 election and are now set to hit critical mass in his second term. You may be hearing about the automatic tax increases in the fiscal cliff, plus additional tax increases President Obama is negotiating with Speaker Boehner. But you won´t hear much about liberalism´s most powerful,
In the wake of Friday´s unspeakable tragedy, it is hard to imagine that anyone would be smiling in Newtown, Connecticut. But when the President visited the small New England town where a crazed gunman took 27 innocent lives, he managed to lift the hearts and spirits of some grieving families, who took brief solace in his mere presence. In one emotional meeting, a heart-broken President embraced Robbie Parker, father-to-father, over the senseless death of his six-year-old daughter Emilie. But it was smiles all around when he gathered her younger sisters and some other
The young man who killed 20 children and six adults at a Connecticut elementary school Friday suffered from a condition where he could literally feel no pain, according to a faculty member at his old high school. Richard Novia, the advisor for the tech club at Newton High, said that if Adam Lanza cut or hurt himself, "he would not know it or feel it." Novia´s words are the latest from a series of former acquaintances of Lanza´s to paint him as bright but obviously troubled.
Watauga County mountain man Eustace Conway’s passion for teaching primitive living came to a sudden halt in October when local government officials shut down his operation, citing safety and health concerns. [snip] But he also has become entangled in a maze of modern-day rules and codes that both make no sense and cannot be applied consistently within the primitive environment he is working to preserve.
Though Adam Lanza may have committed one of the most heinous crimes in history, had he survived his rampage and been convicted in court, he would not have been sentenced to death. In April of 2012, Gov. Dannel Malloy (D) and the Democrat-led Connecticut legislature repealed the death penalty on a party-line vote. The law replaced capital punishment with life in prison, without the possibility of parole. A Quinnipiac poll released on April 25th, indicated that, while Connecticut voters supported the death penalty in general, 62% - 30%, they were evenly divided
WASHINGTON — The long-awaited independent report on the killing of the US ambassador to Libya and three other Americans will be presented to the State Department today, according to reports. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton created the Advisory Review Board to investigate the Sept. 11 attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, which killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
Elections have consequences. So suck it up and own it, America. America decided on Nov. 6. More than 121 million of us voted, and more than 62 million cast their ballots for the incumbent, President Obama. While some liberal political pundits like Rachel Maddow and Al Sharpton wrongly claim the president has a “mandate” (he doesn’t, he won just 51 percent of the vote and 48 percent of America voted against him), they are correct when they assert, as they have repeatedly since Election Day, that “elections have consequences.” (Snip)The consequences of the 2012 election are coming
What if there is nobody or nothing to blame for Adam Lanza´s heinous acts? Other than Lanza, of course. What if school security and the school psychiatrist kept an eye on Lanza since his freshman year? The Wall Street Journal has a compelling narrative about the red flags addressed. What if he had a form of autism that has little or no link to violent behavior? Lanza may have had Asperger´s syndrome but, even so, that is not a cause. What if it´s too simple to lay the massacre at the feet of the gun lobby?
An Indiana man is counting his Christmas blessings after a fortuitous reunion with his long-lost pet pooch--stolen an astounding five years earlier. Bandit, a now-10-year-old shih tzu, was discovered by New Castle Animal Control as a stray in the eponymous Indiana town in late November. ´This is my little buddy,´ said the man, identified only as ´Mike,´ after the tearful meeting with his pet. ´I’ve been missing him for five years.´ Bandit was reunited with Mike through the aid of a ´Home Again´ microchip embedded under the dog´s skin and containing info about his original owner.
Not long into his freshman year, Adam Lanza caught the attention of Newtown High School staff members, who assigned him a high-school psychologist, while teachers, counselors and security officers helped monitor the skinny, socially awkward teen, according to a former school official.A high-school yearbook photo shows Adam Lanza, third from the right, as part of the technology club.Their fear wasn´t that he was dangerous. "It was completely the opposite," said Richard J. Novia, the director of security at Newtown School District at the time in 2007. "At that point in his life, he posed no threat to anyone else.
The tight-knit community of Newtown, Connecticut is numb in the aftermath of the heart-wrenching massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary school on Friday when a gunman killed 20 young students, all aged six and seven, in addition to six adults. As families mourn the lives that were cut short in this unspeakable horror, an extremist group has announced they plan to congregate at the scene of the tragedy and offer praise to God for ´executing his judgement´--an unthinkable act amidst the sorrow overwhelming the quiet town. A member from the Westboro Baptist Church, an unaffiliated religious group that self-identifies as
The largest school massacre in American history occurred in Bath Township, Michigan in 1927.[Snip] As fire trucks arrived to put out the flames, an explosion went off in the north wing of the school building. A witness said, “After the first shock I thought for a moment I was blind. When it came the air seemed to be full of children and flying desks and books. Children were tossed high in the air; some were catapulted out of the building.” Kehoe had been planning the slaughter for months, slowly secreting dynamite and pyrotol in the basement. As rescuers rushed
Among the gifts Nancy Pelosi brings to the House of Representatives is her ability to draw a hearty guffaw from the most jaded observer of American politics. This talent for comedy was on display last Wednesday when she told a group of toadeaters disguised as journalists that she belongs to the anti-corruption party. The Orwellian absurdity of the claim, combined with her trademark vapid expression, was enough to make a cat laugh. I do, however, wish C-SPAN would flash some sort of warning on the screen when the former Speaker is about to deliver one of these howlers.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis, the 1988 Democratic presidential nominee, may be headed back to the political spotlight as he’s considered a likely interim replacement for Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.). President Obama is set to tap Kerry to succeed Hillary Clinton as secretary of State, according to media reports. This means Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) needs to find someone to fill Kerry’s seat until a special election can be held in the late spring or early summer. Dukakis, who is 79, has remained politically active. He campaigned for Sen.-elect Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) this fall and teaches at Northeastern University.
On Election Day, the American people voted for the antithesis of change: They voted for the status quo of more government, more giveaway programs, less freedom and less individuality. In this election, the Republican Party should have had an easier time convincing Americans that they would be better off if we changed course. Tangled up in embarrassing statements about rape and abortion and notably silent on immigration, the electorate chose what they knew over what they perceived incorrectly as closed-minded and out of touch. This allowed the radical left to use fear tactics
Some of my recent articles addressing the Benghazi consulate debacle have quoted Senator John McCain comparing it with another White House scandal. To whit: “It is the worst cover-up or incompetence I have ever observed in my life. Somebody the other day said to me, this is as bad as Watergate, but nobody died in Watergate.” That association with presidential misdeeds leading to impeachment provoked contentious reader responses, some offended by the connection, and others in agreement.
NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Pupils from Sandy Hook Elementary School will return to classes at a former school building about 15 minutes away and may never go back to the school where a gunman killed 20 first-graders and six teachers and administrators. Work crews descended on the former Chalk Hill Middle School in Monroe on Sunday morning to make it ready for pupils by Wednesday, although no date has been set for the children to resume classes, Monroe Police Lt. Brian McCauley said. The two-story building sits along a winding, wooded road next to a new middle school and an elementary school.
