A U.S. congressman is complaining that the Pentagon has ignored his inquiries into whether the U.S. is helping facilitate the movement of arms from Libya to the Syrian opposition. (Snip) Sources told Fox News last week that the movement of arms from Libya to support Syrian fighters is well-known in Benghazi and began almost immediately after the fall of Muammar Qaddafi. Following a report in Britain´s Sunday Times that the Obama administration was facilitating that movement, State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland flatly denied the charge. "It was a false report," she said. Nuland later added: "We are providing nonlethal assistance.

Israel is trying to increase its intelligence gathering efforts vis-à-vis Iran and is now using Eritrea to that effect, a new report by Stratfor Global Intelligence said Tuesday. According to the strategy consultancy firm, Eritrea, which sits on the eastern shore of the Red Sea, has become an arena of operations for both Israel and Iran, as both are trying to bolster their influence on the Horn of Africa. "In exchange for resources, possibly including modest amounts of cash and weapons, Eritrea has exhibited a willingness to become a base of support for Middle Eastern powers," Stratfor said.

Washington - US missile-warning systems detected the launch of a North Korean rocket on Tuesday, and initial indications are that the missile deployed an object that appeared to achieve orbit, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, said. The launch was detected at 7:49 p.m. EST (0049 GMT Wednesday) and the rocket was tracked on a southerly course, with the first stage falling into the Yellow Sea and the second stage falling into the Philippine Sea. "Initial indications are that the missile deployed an object that appeared to achieve orbit," NORAD said in a statement.

Official claims military exports are a result of significant advances in avionic technology leading to drone manufacturing. Iran’s Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology said on Monday that the Islamic Republic is exporting its domestically made drones and UAV technologies to a number of countries including Syria and Venezuela. (Snip) Hajizadeh also claimed that Iran has made great strides in UAV development, boasting that the Ayoub drone Hezbollah flew over Israeli airspace earlier this year was in fact a decade-old Iranian model. It appears that the world is witnessing a portentous geopolitical upheaval and transformation in the Greater Middle East, the ultimate amalgamation of a new “United States of Islam.” Miscalculation over the use of chemical weapons in a last ditch effort to save the Syrian regime could be a tactical blunder and horrendous mistake. Unless Damascus ceases and desists from playing chemical solitaire with Tehran, it has already sealed its own tragic fate. There is no denying the fact that Iran is pulling the strings and that its fingerprints are all over in the escalating Syrian conflict.

U.S. President Barack Obama plans to soon propose to Iran that it negotiate directly with the Americans about its nuclear program, Channel 10 News reported on Tuesday. The report, which cited a senior American official, said that Obama´s move was made without any coordination or consultation with Israel. According to the report, the Americans probably will allow a period of four to five months for negotiations with Tehran. If the talks fail, they may then resort to the military option. As well, Obama is planning to set preconditions for contacts with the Islamic Republic,

Live video from a drone flying over the U.S. Consulate during the Sept. 11 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, was monitored at a Defense Department facility, but was not fed to the White House, senior officials say. The Obama administration has declined to respond to media requests for details about who was watching the live video, but a senior defense official told The Washington Times that “the surveillance aircraft captured footage of events on the ground” and “it wasn’t available that night at the White House.” The officials said the “overhead footage

Michigan enacted far-reaching legislation Tuesday that threatens to cripple the power of organized labor in a state that was a hub of union might during the heyday of the nation’s industrial dominance. As thousands of angry union members shouted their opposition outside the state Capitol in Lansing, the Republican-controlled legislature completed work on two measures to ban unions from requiring workers to pay membership dues. Gov. Rick Snyder (R) then signed them into law Tuesday evening. The “right to work” effort illustrates the power of Republicans to use state legislative majorities won in 2010

The president says right-to-work laws mean "the right to work for less money." So how does he explain the fact that incomes are up in RTW states while forced unionism is a proven job killer? Campaigning Monday in Michigan as it stood poised to become the nation´s 24th right-to-work state, President Obama spoke the exact opposite of the truth to union workers at a Daimler Detroit Diesel plant in the birthplace of organized labor. "What we shouldn´t be doing," he told the small crowd, "is trying to take away your rights to bargain for better wages

Just like a scene out of "Antiques Roadshow," a woman in Hartford, Conn., turned in an old rifle to her local police station´s gun buy-back, only to discover the gun was worth anywhere from $20,000 to $25,000. The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, inherited the gun from her father who had brought it home with him from Europe as a memento from World War II. The two officers conducting the gun buy-back, who are resident gun experts for the Hartford Police Department, informed the owner she was in possession of a Nazi Assault Rifle, the first of its kind, that dates back to 1944. The gun is called a Sturmgewehr 44, literally meaning "storm rifle," and is the first "modern assault rifle ever made Link repaired and text added by Staff

The National Rifle Association just won a major court case in Chicago, providing a huge victory for Second Amendment proponents and gun owners. Illinois is one of the most anti-gun states in America. Its hostility toward the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is demonstrated in a state law that forbids the carrying of firearms outside the home. There are narrow exceptions for classes of persons such as police officers, or under restrictions that keep the firearm from being readily usable, such as being kept unloaded in a locked case. Authorities reported the gunman was ´neutralized´ after the Clackamas Town Center was placed on lock-down with all entrances blocked as police and SWAT teams searched the stores. Clackamas County Sheriff´s spokesman James Rhodes confirmed to reporters that the unidentified gunman murdered two people and wounded several others before committing suicide. A Fox News contributor was punched in the face during a pro-union protest Tuesday in Michigan, one of a series of confrontations between union demonstrators and opponents on the day the state Legislature approved so-called "right to work" legislation that unions oppose. Another protester can be seen later in the video punching Crowder in the face before being restrained by another man. They were trying to tear down the tent and people were trying to pull them off. “This guy tripped over a tent peg and then got up and hit me."

WASHINGTON -As the clock ticks toward a tax hike on all Americans in 20 days, President Obama predicted Republicans would join Democrats to extend current rates for 98 percent of earners before the end of the year. "I´m pretty confident that Republicans would not hold middle class taxes hostage to trying to protect tax cuts for high-income individuals," Obama said today in an exclusive interview with ABC News´ Barbara Walters. "I don´t think they´ll do that," he said of Republicans forcing tax-rate increases for families earning $250,000 a year or less.

Washington - President Barack Obama says the U.S. now recognizes Syria´s main opposition group as the "legitimate representative" of the country´s people. Obama says the Syrian Opposition Council is now "inclusive enough" to be granted greater legitimacy in the international community. The president says that level of recognition comes with responsibility, including making sure the group organizes itself effectively and is committed to a political transition that respects the rights of women and minorities. The move paves the way for greater U.S. support as the group seeks the ouster of Syrian

The chairman of President Barack Obama’s job council has endorsed China’s style of crony capitalism, saying “state-run communism may not be your cup of tea, but their government works.” Jeff Immelt is the dual-hatted chairman of the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, and of General Electric, a huge company with businesses in many domestic and international sectors, including China. He used a Dec. 10 television interview to suggest that China’s type of state-run capitalism has been great for business while lamenting the state of the American economy.

WASHINGTON- Some of the best Republican arguments against President Barack Obama´s proposals to avoid a "fiscal cliff" come from the president himself, in comments he made months or years before his re-election. Stung by the GOP´s midterm election gains in 2010, Obama took stands that differ from his current positions on raising tax rates, adjusting Social Security and other topics now dominating Washington as a Dec. 31 deadline nears. Sometimes gleefully, Republicans throw Obama´s old words back at him. They portray him as inconsistent at best, insincere at worst. The strategy has limits, however. Elections make a difference.
