The chairman of President Barack Obama’s job council has endorsed China’s style of crony capitalism, saying “state-run communism may not be your cup of tea, but their government works.” Jeff Immelt is the dual-hatted chairman of the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, and of General Electric, a huge company with businesses in many domestic and international sectors, including China. He used a Dec. 10 television interview to suggest that China’s type of state-run capitalism has been great for business while lamenting the state of the American economy.

The first four jets are to be delivered beginning Jan. 22, a source at the naval air base in Fort Worth, where the planes have been undergoing testing, told FoxNews.com.

Police released a picture Tuesday of the suspect wanted for shooting a man on a busy midtown street — taken just as he pulled out a handgun and fired. The brazen gunman, wearing a black hoodie and khakis, fired the fatal shot as Brandon Woodard was text messaging on his phone while walking on a rain-slicked W. 58th St. about 2 p.m. Monday. “The shooter walked up behind him and shot him at close range,” said Paul Browne, the NYPD’s top spokesman. “He just walked up, shot him and walked away.” Cops also released footage from a surveillance camera

GOP throws Obama´s old

WASHINGTON- Some of the best Republican arguments against President Barack Obama´s proposals to avoid a "fiscal cliff" come from the president himself, in comments he made months or years before his re-election. Stung by the GOP´s midterm election gains in 2010, Obama took stands that differ from his current positions on raising tax rates, adjusting Social Security and other topics now dominating Washington as a Dec. 31 deadline nears. Sometimes gleefully, Republicans throw Obama´s old words back at him. They portray him as inconsistent at best, insincere at worst. The strategy has limits, however. Elections make a difference.

A newly discovered lizard that went extinct during prehistoric times now shares a name with President Barack Obama. A new study by Yale researcher Nicholas Longrich published Monday has found that 85 percent of lizard and snake species, long thought to have survived an asteroid blast that wiped out dinosaurs some 65 million years ago, went extinct at the same time. Among the casualties was a foot-long lizard that lived in Montana, that Longrich has named "The Obamadon." The Obamadon was probably a foot long, with these tall, slender teeth it used to eat insects and plant matter,

Seventy-five percent of the new revenue pulled in by President Barack Obama´s "fiscal cliff" plan would go toward new spending, not toward deficit reduction, the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee contends. Here´s a chart, detailing how money from the new tax hikes would be distributed: (Snip for graphic)According to the minority side of the Senate Budget Committee, $1.2 trillion of the proposed $1.6 trillion in tax hikes would go toward new spending, while only $400 billion would go toward deficit reduction. At a recent exhibition against Maria Sharapova in Brazil, the former world No. 1 stuffed courtside towels down her kit to replicate the body of the curvaceous Grand Slam champion. But now the 22-year-old Dane, whose boyfriend golfer Rory McIlroy was in the crowd, has now been accused of racism by some observers.

Scientists may have finally solved the puzzle of what makes a person gay, and how it is passed from parents to their children. A group of scientists suggested Tuesday that homosexuals get that trait from their opposite-sex parents: A lesbian will almost always get the trait from her father, while a gay man will get the trait from his mother. The hereditary link of homosexuality has long been established, but scientists knew it was not a strictly genetic link, because there are many pairs of identical twins who have differing sexualities.

CARACAS - After rising from bus driver to union leader to vice president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro could soon be at the helm of the South American OPEC nation if a third bout of cancer pulls President Hugo Chavez out of office. Anointed as the former soldier´s successor, Maduro is the most popular of Chavez´s inner circle and the most qualified to carry on his oil-financed socialism. Maduro, who is seen as a moderate who has developed alliances around the world during six years as foreign minister, would assume power if Chavez has to step aside.

Let´s be fair. Present federal spending levels is damaging to future generations. It steals from those that are coming after us and also shaves value from the currency. Let us be fair to future generations and those who hold dollars. Let´s be fair. People who are taking money from the Social Security fund under the guise of being disabled, when they are not, are essentially stealing the money from the people who obediently paid into Social Security. Let´s be fair. Those who paid in to the fund should not be subject to fraudulent

The arrival of the San Francisco set off a big celebration in the city - a parade up Market Street, a solemn Mass at St. Mary´s cathedral to honor those who died, and a ceremony honoring the heroes of the big naval battle off the Solomon Islands and Guadalcanal. "It was a great day," said Johnny Johnson, who was aboard the San Francisco in the battle and served on the ship

Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist joined the Democratic Party with trademark panache, posting a picture of himself brandishing the signed paperwork on Twitter--from a White House Christmas party. Florida newspapers reported that President Obama responded to the news with a fist pump. That was Friday. Two days later, the newly elected chairman of the Democratic Governors Association said that Crist was “certainly high on the list” of recruits for the 2014 governor’s race. Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin also called Crist “an incredibly capable leader ... a great governor … and a very strong candidate,” although he said he wasn’t ruling out other potential candidates.

He said police were positioned around the Capitol trying to keep people away from the building when one demonstrator grabbed a trooper and tried to pull her into the crowd. As protests against Michigan’s right-to-work laws swelled, pro-union Democrat legislator Douglas Geiss took to the state House floor – and Twitter – to promise violence. “We are going to undo 100 years of labor relations,” said Geiss. “And there will be blood. We will relive the Battle of the Overpass.” The Battle of the Overpass was a 1937 clash between the United Auto Workers and security troops for the Ford Motor Company, in which dozens of union activists were beaten up. It has long been considered one of the worst examples of corporate-stooge union busting.

"Not just a slow moving, advancing rise of sea level, but a really big flood that then stayed ... The land that went under stayed under."

Oh good grief. Peter Singer has embraced Aubrey de Gray’s quest to defeat human aging. For those who don’t know, de Gray–who looks like a long-lost member of ZZ Top–believes that his research is so important that it should be funded ahead of providing healthcare for destitute Africans. Indeed, I saw him give a wild-eyed speech in which he explicitly compared under funding his work to a terrorist blowing up a car. Singer first questions whether depriving people of needed healthcare now in the (vain, in both senses of the word,
