The UN General Assembly approved a resolution on Monday by a vote of 174-6 that would require Israel to open its nuclear program to inspection “without further delay.” The only countries voting against it were the U.S., Canada, Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Palau. And the animus toward Israel doesn’t stop there; the UN also wants to convene a meeting to ban nuclear weapons from the Middle East, which would leave Israel vastly outnumbered and essentially helpless against the Islamic hordes wishing to eradicate it. There was supposed to be a similar meeting this month in Helsinki,

Instead of negotiating with Congressional leaders to avert the fiscal cliff, President Barack Obama visited a Northern Virginia family for a photo op on Thursday and reiterated that he would not sign any deal that did not raise taxes on families with incomes above $250,000. According to The Hill, Obama said that everyone will have to “share in some sacrifice,” and, “it starts with folks who are in the best position to sacrifice." “Just to be clear, I´m not going to sign any package that somehow prevents the top rate from going up,

Rep. Jeb Hensarling — the incoming chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services — told Rep. Walter Jones earlier this week that he was “offended” by the House leadership’s decision to purge several Republicans from their committee positions without even notifying them. Jones relayed that conversation in an interview that aired Thursday night on WTKF’s “Viewpoints” radio program in eastern North Carolina. Speaking to host Lockwood Phillips, Jones described how he discovered he had been kicked off the financial services committee and the reaction he received from Hensarling. “I will tell you that yesterday the incoming

The New York Times Cairo bureau chief David K. Kirkpatrick insists that the Muslim Brotherhood is a “moderate, regular old political force,” despite Muslim Brotherhood-backed Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi’s recent power grab and the Islamist organization’s radical views. Kirkpatrick called into Hugh Hewitt’s radio show Wednesday from Egypt as the Brotherhood’s supporters battled opponents who feared a return to dictatorship on the streets of Cairo. When asked by Hewitt whether the Muslim Brotherhood and Morsi, a former top ideological enforcer in the movement, were consolidating power

On Sean Hannity‘s show tonight, Juan Williams and David Limbaugh faced off over the fiscal cliff negotiations and who is being more inflexible and unwilling to compromise. Limbaugh and Hannity said President Obama is being the more stubborn one, while Williams found it amazing that anyone could think the Republicans are being anything but inflexible on the deal. (Snip) Limbaugh criticized Obama for posturing rather than negotiating, saying that the “real fiscal cliff is national bankruptcy” and the first cliff is “preferable” to accepting any deal offered by the president. After much (much, much) ado, the day is upon us: the day David Axelrod slashed his ‘stache on TV. The Obama adviser headed over to Morning Joe on Friday to make good on his promise to shave off his mustache of 40 years after hitting $1 million in donations for epilepsy research. Axelrod thanked those who donated, particularly those who couldn’t afford to write big checks, but still gave what they could — and spoke briefly about the notes he received from those who have also dealt with epilepsy. “There are people who have lost a lot

For Egypt´s Muslim Brotherhood-dominated government, more battle tanks and jet fighters are on their way from the United States. Cairo’s military link to Washington has remained intact, meaning the U.S. will continue to modernize the biggest military in Africa – even as President Mohammed Morsi has decreed near-absolute power for himself and his supporters and opponents battle outside his palace. Analysts say Egypt’s military buildup presents risks for Washington – and Israel – with the growing influence of the Brotherhood, whose overriding goal is to establish Shariah, or Islamic, law worldwide.

Many motorists don´t know it, but it´s likely that every time they get behind the wheel, there´s a snitch along for the ride. In the next few days, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is expected to propose long-delayed regulations requiring auto manufacturers to include event data recorders — better known as "black boxes" — in all new cars and light trucks. But the agency is behind the curve. Automakers have been quietly tucking the devices, which automatically record the actions of drivers and the responses of their vehicles in a continuous information loop, into most new cars for years.

Wall Street Journal columnist Daniel Henninger appeared on Fox & Friends on Friday where he warned that presidents who do not preside over growing economies in their second terms tend not to be recalled favorably by posterity. Henninger said he thought that President Barack Obama’s legacy ‘would be ashes’ if his second term is characterized by consistently low economic growth. Henninger expressed dismay over the state of the negotiations on the fiscal cliff, and said it was disturbing that he thought negotiations were “nowhere.” He went on to list the ways in which Obama has been

Fox News commentator Dana Perino suggested during a live broadcast that female victims of domestic violence should ´make better decisions´ to avoid getting hurt. Perino made the remark during a discussion on the murder-suicide of NFL player Jovan Belcher, who shot and killed his girlfriend before turning a gun on himself. For months prior to the shooting, the couple had been having problems and police had previously been called to their home as a result. Fox commentators were discussing the implications of the crime and whether laws governing gun rights should be reexamined in the aftermath.

Pictures and calendars featuring half-naked women will be stripped from U.S. Air Force work spaces and public areas under a widespread inspection to stamp out sexual assault in the armed forces. Commanders and supervisors in all active, reserve and Air National Guard units have 10 days to complete the sweep for pin-up images or materials reminiscent of the all-male military from 20 or 30 years ago. Air Force chief General Mark Welsh said having a culture where such objectification of women is tolerated may be contributing to reports of sexual assault increasing to more than 700 this year

After 30 years, The New York Times has admitted that Reaganomics worked. The inadvertent revelation comes in a November 29th article by Binyamin Appelbaum chronicling the steadily falling tax burden Americans have experienced since the 1980s. AEI columnist James Pethokoukis notes that the heart of The Times´ article is that in 2010 Americans "paid far less in total taxes -- federal, state and local -- than they would have paid 30 years ago." Pethokoukis points out that some tax hike advocates think this means that America´s tax burden is too low and time has come for a hike.

As you may have noticed in recent months, President Obama´s Mideast foreign policies are not going so well. In Libya, Obama pushed out brutal but cooperative dictator Moammar Gadhafi. The country turned lawless. On 9/11, terrorists not reacting to an obscure anti-Islam video sacked the Benghazi consulate, killing four Americans. [Snip] Here´s Thursday´s full read-out of Obama´s phone call to Morsi. See if you too are struck by this one-sided "conversation."

Four-year-old Gavyn Pope asked for the oven for Christmas and his 13-year-old sister, McKenna Pope, was “disappointed that all the Easy-Bake Ovens were pink and purple with images of girls on the boxes,” states a press release issued by Change.org. Michigan Republicans touched off a firestorm Thursday with an abrupt push to pass right-to-work legislation, in what would be a blow to organized labor in the home of the U.S. auto industry. Right-to-work legislation prohibits unions from forcing workers to pay union dues. Unions and their Democratic allies adamantly oppose these laws -- but with little warning, Michigan Republicans on Thursday laid the groundwork to, in a matter of days, make their state the 24th with right-to-work legislation. "This is all about taking care of the hard-working workers in Michigan, being pro-worker and giving them freedom to make choices,"

On Dec. 7, 1941, when Japanese planes attacked Pearl Harbor, I was working as a reporter for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. After a week of war, I wrote a story directed at Hawaii’s women; I thought it would be useful for them to know what I had seen. It might help prepare them for what lay ahead. But my editors thought the graphic content would be too upsetting for readers and decided not to run my article. It appears here for the first time. For seven ghastly, confused days, we have been at war.

Hoping that the recent murder of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya won´t be forgotten, the Senate has approved a measure to add 1,000 more U.S. Marines to embassy security forces, drawing cheers from the diplomatic corps. The extra Marines would nearly double the size of the security force of 1,200 stationed in 130 countries. Susan Johnson, president of the American Foreign Service Association, said, "Increasing the Embassy Marine Security Guard program is going to benefit many of our embassies and consulates that have had to find a balance between security needs and what resources, including Marines, are available."

Barack Hussein Obama had such a good time reciting the presidential oath of office twice last time, that he´s decided to do it twice twice. What really sticks out from that cold sunny inaugural day in 2009, of course, was the size of Aretha Franklin´s hat, which needed special FAA clearance to ascend Capitol Hill. But many also remember the about-to-be president and the already-Chief Justice of the Supreme Court muffing the oath.
