President Obama honors Rosa Parks

President Obama loves to insert himself in other people’s biographies. He also loves to honor people, most recently Neil Armstrong and Vice President Biden, with pictures of himself. All. About. Him. His laser-like focus never wavers from his own image. And the narcissism continues: To honor the 57th anniversary of the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus, President Obama paid homage with a picture of himself.

Football is embarrassingly tone deaf. Jovan Belcher, a starting linebacker for the Chiefs, murdered the mother of his child shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday. He hopped in his car, drove to the Kansas City Chiefs practice facility, thanked Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli — and shot himself in the head in front of his coach and general manager around 8:10 a.m.

MEXICO CITY - The presidents of Colombia and Nicaragua on Saturday both said they hoped to avoid war and use dialogue instead to solve a dispute over a recent U.N. court ruling that shifted some of Colombia´s resource-rich water to the Central America country. The Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ) earlier this month shocked Colombia by giving a large expanse of its fishing and potentially oil rich maritime territory to Nicaragua while handing some disputed islands to Colombia in a binding ruling. Nicaragua´s economic exclusion zone in the Caribbean was expanded by the ruling,

Bangalore - Driven by China and India and seemingly unaffected by an economic slowdown, global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions will reach a record high in 2012, according to new figures made public on Sunday. Emissions from the burning of fossil fuels - mainly the use of coal to generate electricity - will rise to a record 35.6 billion tonnes, a 58% rise above 1990 levels, said a study released by the Global Carbon Project, a partnership of scientists established in 2001 to create a knowledge base about global warming. The latest warning - in a slew of dire reports since November

President Obama today is golfing at Andrews Air Force Base with Bill Clinton, U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk and Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe, according to the White House press office. The outing seems to be part thank you to Clinton – who campaigned heavily for the president – and part strategy session for McAuliffe, who is personally close to Clinton. This is the 107th time Obama has been golfing as president and the 15th time this year. After avoiding the fairways during a reelection campaign that portrayed him as a warrior for the middle class, Obama has returned to golf

Why do some atheists embarrass themselves year after year trying to eradicate Christmas from American culture? Why do they make themselves societal hemorrhoids during this hallowed season? Is it because they are crusaders for equality, secularism’s saviors and humanism’s heroes? I’m sure that’s what they tell themselves when they’re pouting on their couches all alone on Christmas Eve after every single one of their friends has dumped them for being a rabid jackass.

The ever-increasing culture of entitlement was correctly identified by Mitt Romney as a leading factor in the Democrats´ victory. However, running in parallel is another culture on the rise -- one far less well-identified, which bodes ominously not only for the GOP´s future prospects, but, more importantly, for the democratic process itself.(snip)Pseudo-idealism is a term coined by the Australian biologist Jeremy Griffith to describe apparently charitable behavior that on scrutiny is revealed as selfish, because the giver is engaging in it only so that he or she can feel good about him- or herself.

The 2012 presidential election victory (by fact, by fraud, or by both) will be America’s decision of the current millennium. The nation is now divided. Not between or among the classes promoted by the Democrats who have routinely sorted groups by race, income, wealth, digital access, and a thousand other sub-classes in their unending search for victims to label, save, and subjugate. No, not talking about all those. Because there are only two classes now: “Christians” and “Romans”.

The special election to replace former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. will be held April 9. Gov. Pat Quinn signed legislation today to approve the date. Jackson resigned last month citing his health and acknowledging he´s under federal investigation. Quinn had a 115-day window to set an election. But he wanted the Jackson contest to coincide with municipal elections already planned for April 9 so he had to seek lawmaker approval to change the timeline. Lawmakers approved legislation for the date change. Quinn says the move saves taxpayer money.

I mean, you know, just inevitably gonna be a little political theater in this context,” Geithner said, when asked whether Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell laughed after hearing President Obama’s plan to avert the fiscal cliff.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Demoralized Republicans arrived in Boston Wednesday night for a rare moment in American politics: They came to learn from Democrats. Barack Obama´s campaign schooled Mitt Romney’s in November, something of which the Republicans who gathered at the quadrennial, off-the-record Harvard Institute of Politics Campaign Managers Conference were intensely aware. And while the proceedings of the event are under embargo until the institute releases audio transcripts of the proceedings, some participants shared their reactions.
