Newark Mayor Cory Booker, a noted rising star in the Democratic Party, may soon be living on food stamps. Booker has not fallen on hard times but, rather, has taken on a challenge to experience life enrolled into the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamp program. The mayor — who interacts frequently with his Twitter followers — challenged one of his followers, @MWadeNC, to join him in the challenge of living on food stamps, after the tweeter, who bills herself as an “Army Veteran, Army Daughter, Army Wife … fighting against any and all forms of socialism Headline resplit by staff.

Some brave thinkers recognize that beneath the intrigue surrounding the Benghazi tragedy lie the traces of something much larger and far more dangerous. Frank Gaffney and the Center for Security Policy hosted a panel on November 13, 2012 to discuss "Benghazi: US Foreign Policy and the Threat of Sharia Doctrine." Guest panelists included Dr. Andrew Bostom, Diana West, and Stephen Coughlin. The event was taped in its entirety and is available here.

I didn´t know Jane Fonda was still around either. But sure enough, the soon-to-be-75 actress, left-wing activist, fitness fanatic and general flake is not only sitting up and taking solid food -- health food by the look of her, she doesn´t have enough fat on her to make a candle -- has just received another award. Something called the L.A. Press Club has bestowed its annual "Visionary Award" on Hanoi Jane. Why? I wondered that too. The club explains that the award is bestowed on someone in the entertainment industry (is Jane still entertaining?)

Chicago - Feeling the pinch of the sluggish economic recovery, many Americans setting out on the nation´s annual Thanksgiving migration had to sacrifice summer vacations, rely on relatives for airfare or scour the Web for travel deals to ensure they made it home. It´s not just tight family finances making travel tough. Airlines struggling to save on jet fuel and other expenses have cut the number of flights, leading to a jump in airfares. Those hitting the roads face high gas prices and rising tolls. Now, with talk of the nation sliding off a "fiscal cliff" come January, many travelers said

It is a sad irony at this time when Thanksgiving Day is being celebrated in America, that one of the things Americans had to be most thankful about – their liberty – is going away. It is not simply in danger of going away, as it was throughout the last century and over the last thirteen years; it is on its way out. Through propaganda, education, disinformation, indoctrination, and imposed ignorance, the political left has succeeded in subverting a segment of the American population sufficient to ensure their political power in perpetuity.

Boston - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration took 684 days to issue a warning letter after uncovering serious issues at the pharmacy at the center of the deadly U.S. meningitis outbreak, newly released documents showed. The New England Compounding Center (NECC) chastised the FDA for taking so long, telling the agency its response time was nearly 18 months longer than the FDA´s average response, according to letters released by a Freedom of Information Act request from Reuters. Since the FDA´s December 2006 warning letter to NECC, both sides have come under intense scrutiny. State and federal regulators, including the FDA,

Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly is still defending his controversial post-election remarks about the entitlement state, and now he’s getting an assist from conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer. O’Reilly has been taking plenty of heat for saying President Barack Obama re-election was proof that the American electorate deviated from traditional values and now has a sense of entitlement. The Washington Post editorial board later took issue with O’Reilly’s remarks, and he fired back on Monday O’Reilly sought out an explanation for the criticism from syndicated Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer, who explained to O’Reilly the modern Democratic Party

“I think we are all aware that we have some urgent business to do,” President Obama said last Friday as congressional leaders sat down with him to discuss a deal to avoid the fast-approaching “fiscal cliff.” From a political standpoint, the conventional Washington wisdom is that it is more urgent for Republicans to make a deal than Democrats. Republicans can no longer say they are waiting for increased bargaining leverage that will come after winning the November election, gaining control of the Senate and the White House. That game is over and

On Twitter yesterday, some of my conservative friends beat me up for writing about Marco Rubio’s comments to GQ about the Earth’s age. Their point was that it was a silly question (it was.) And that it was feeding a liberal meme (it is.) But the notion that this means we should ignore it is also silly.(snip)And so, this is a strategy. Like Sarah Palin in 2008, Democrats view Marco Rubio as a major threat — not just for one or two elections — but someone who could undermine their advantage

How the left is living on the fumes of California’s great wealth, which they inherited, and then squandered. ? What causes a culture to lose faith in its future? ? President Obama and Congressional Democrats have gone to great lengths to defend embattled U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice’s role in the aftermath of the 9-11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Ms. Rice’s defenders claim that her initial public assessment that the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi was a spontaneous protest in reaction to a supposed Anti-Islam film on YouTube was based on bad intelligence. Congressional hearings have revealed that the CIA, under its former director David Petraeus, knew through intelligence on the ground and from assets overhead that this planned attack was

President Obama´s signature healthcare law has to be on the table for cuts as Congress tried to negotiate a deal to avoid the "fiscal cliff," House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) wrote in an op-ed. "We can’t afford it, and we can’t afford to leave it intact," Boehner wrote in the Cincinnati Enquirer. "That’s why I’ve been clear that the law has to stay on the table as both parties discuss ways to solve our nation’s massive debt challenge." Republicans have already made clear that they hope to go after the law´s insurance subsidies in upcoming debt talks.

Vice President Biden’s ex-chief of staff and a former Democratic leader in the Senate are among the names being touted for the second-most-powerful job in Washington. White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew presently holds that title as the gatekeeper to the Oval Office, but he is widely expected to move on — either as the successor to Timothy Geithner as Treasury secretary or back to the private sector. If Lew leaves, Obama’s choice in replacing him will send loud signals to the rest of Washington about how the president plans to deal with Congress and

I´ve been hoping that the race card would be played out by now but sadly, it isn´t. Yesterday on America Live with Megyn Kelly, liberal Alan Colmes said Republicans shouldn´t be criticizing Susan Rice because she´s a black woman. Colmes argued that the optics of Republicans "attacking minorities" don´t look so good. "I just don´t think it is wise for Republicans on the heels of the election to pick as their first target an African-American woman, a very accomplished one just by a purely political, strategic standpoint." “The first thing they do after an election is to

During a Fox News segment on the ongoing fight over whether nudists should be allowed to walk the streets of San Francisco, The Five co-host Bob Beckel gave a rather colorful explanation for why people become nudists in their adult life. The remarks came after co-host Dana Perino asked the table: “What happened to these people as children that they don’t want to wear any clothes?” Andrea Tantaros said the nudists are “desperate for attention.” "Most of them were gang banged probably,” Beckel chimed in. The two-shot camera showed Perino wincing in shock.

BOCA GRANDE, Fla. — During this time of Thanksgiving, it is altogether fitting and appropriate that we stop to give thanks for one of our most important and cherished freedoms in America: our freedom of the press. Without the vigorous and unflinching watchdogs of truth and justice, where would we be today? This freedom is why after eight months of hiding from the confrontational reporters who follow him most closely, President Obama finally got smoked out of the West Wing and was shamed into appearing before the demanding press a week after he secured re-election.

In a striking blow for the environmental left, the International Energy Agency has released a report detailing how the United States is on track to outpace Saudi Arabia in oil production. This surely puts the Obama administration in a bind concerning its green energy monomania that has dominated their energy policy for the past four years. This finding shows that the United States can be energy independent, and we have the resources to do so. However, the boot of government is trying to centralize and

Diplomacy: So amid all the colorful and flirty photos from President Obama´s first tour of Southeast Asia, what did he actually accomplish? As usual, he served himself politically in what was largely a Potemkin mission abroad. It was obvious enough from the rubelike gaffes that the president hasn´t been particularly interested or attentive to the affairs of Thailand, Burma or Cambodia as he made his first trip since his re-election. It was pretty much all style over substance. In his tour of Burma, billed as an historic first visit since Burma´s 2007 move to democracy,

San Francisco supervisors approved a much-publicized nudity ban Tuesday. The vote was close, but 6 to 5 was enough for the ban to pass. It will need a second reading and another approval majority vote before it becomes final. The issue was sparked by a group of dedicated nudists in the city´s Castro District, where shopkeepers, parents, and proponents of decency say they had had enough. The ban says people can´t show "genitals, perineum or anal region" in public. Supervisor Scott Wiener is the legislation´s sponsor. Violations of the ban would risk a $100 fine,

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released long-awaited proposed regulations outlining which types of health care services insurance companies must offer and which pre-existing conditions they can take into account when adjusting premiums. Days after it extended the deadline for states to decide if they will establish an insurance exchange, HHS issued proposed regulations outlining what the Obamacare law calls Essential Health Benefits – the package of health care services insurance companies must provide in order to be allowed to sell their product on the exchanges. The EHB regulation is important,
